1.8 Bottle into pils glass, because why not. Bubbly clear golden color with tad off-white head. Aroma notes of pale malt sweetness, crackery, faint straw, tad grass and even fainter fruity esters. Taste adds corn, metallic and light graininess. Light body, heavy carbonation, crisp, with clean finish. Aroma seems tad promising, pretty weak after that. Another boring pale lager down the hatch!
1.0 Location: 16 oz purchased at PNC park Appearance: Light golden. fizzy white head of white bubbles Nose: crisp light cracker malt. Sharp hay hops. Taste: Lightly sweet with a faint hop bitterness Body: thin and fluid. Watery. Parting thoughts: A typical pale yellow boring lager beer. had to, though I was in Pittsburgh.
2.4 Bottle. Aroma of hay, grass. Poured clear golden thin white head. Medium sweet taste. Very thin texture and very light watery body. Finishes with light sweetness and hints of hop. Very clean finish. Overall not much too it, even for a pale lager.
1.9 Pours clear light golden with a thick and frothy eggshell head that says hello and quickly exits. Aroma is crisp and malty, typical and uninspiring. Typical flavor presents malty and weak fruity tones. Mouthfeel lacks fizz and body, but at least it is distinguishable from water. Well, it’s another rating.
0.9 It is what it is. Not very good at all. At least it's not made in steel cans anymore.
2.1 Bottle pours golden, white fizzy head. Typical adjunct pittsburgh piss. Metal, corn, slightly sweet, light body.
2.0 Pours gold with a medium white head. Aroma is corn and grass. Taste is sweet with a very faint bitterness. Light bodied.
1.2 Scuzz Twittly said it best when he crooned: "Iron City is shitty and the town smells like a turd/when you see black and gold just flip em the bird". It’s true. and who am I to disagree with Scuzz? No muy amigo, avoid this, like you avoid sobriety. Head to the warm loving embrace of Blatz....which is ALL that is right in this world. It is what it is....and shall be....or not.
2.1 Pours a transparent straw yellow color with a creamy white head. Aroma of corn, bread, and not much else. Corn malt flavor with some skunk, and grain. Meh, but it could have been so much worse.
2.5 From a can. Clear golden color with small head. Aroma of some grain and corn. Tastes like steel city and Mon river water. Not bad but not good. Average carbonation. Slight metal. Gotta support the Yinzer beer.
1.4 Can - Light and watery taste. A slight bite but not from hops. More malt flavor but not sweet either.
1.8 Bottle from Binny’s in Schaumburg, IL. Clear pale gold pour with a small white head. Corn, very light, mild carbonation. Exceedingly dull, but not offensive either.
2.6 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma-Grain is the predominant scent, I could not detect anything else. Appearance- This beer is a clear yellow with a white head Taste- Strong flavor of corn and malt, not terrible but not world class Palate- Medium bodied with a lot of carbonation Overall- barely average to me, but I am not from the local area for this brew. I hear this is held in reverence in Pittsburgh.
1.6 It is what it is, typical adjunct lager. Corn malts, slightly sweet, hops are nonapparent, pretty blah. But hey, i was in Pittsburgh.
1.8 From a stylish olde frothinggslish can. Yellow pour white head. Sweet corn and sugar aroma. Flavor is sweet and bland. In the up side wet cardboard associated with this style at times is minimal. Lingering sweet corn.
1.5 "From family back east after that best of the worst list came out. Pretty bad, but not the worst, macro corn and generic malty sweetness with little in the way of hops or anything else interesting. Refreshing ice cold on a hot day, but not good."
2.7 Transfer from BA review on 4-29-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a medium golden color with a billowy white head. The head had a surprising amount of retention but eventually faded to give only a very light amount of lacing. Smell – Corn and lighter caramel aromas are the heaviest (although still rather light). There is a very light metallic aroma mixed in as well. Taste – A sweeter corn and a decent bready malt flavor meet the tongue. There is a little bit of caramel that works its way in toward the middle of the taste, hiding some of the corn. A bit of the corn works its way back in and the caramel, corn and malt take the taste to the end. Mouthfeel – Lighter bodied with a medium level of carbonation. Very average for a lager and very fitting for the style. Overall – Mostly an average American adjunct lager but possibly a slight bit above average as its flavors are a bit on the more potent and easy drinking side.
1.8 If yinz headen down the local bar to watch big ben beat up on dem browns this is the beer to drink.
1.5 The pride of Pittsburgh. The best thing to come out of Pittsburgh since sliced bread. Average lager, not much taste flavor or aroma, good for steelers Sunday.
2.2 Bottle: Pours clear gold with a short white head. Scent is apple, grain malt. Sweet...fruit and barley malt flavor, corn. Nothing wrong with this at all...a plain old American Lager...not bad for what it is.
3.4 Aroma: Bread, grass, slightly nutty Appearance: Golden with a slight head that dissipates quickly Taste: Nit much going on, taste like a typical pilsner or lager Palate: Smooth with a a slight bitter after taste Overall: Taste like a typical beer. Not much going on but would prefer this over Budweiser or Coors. I’ve got to say this was batter than I expected based on other peoples ratings. Would drink it again but there is so much more out there I haven’t tried yet.
2.4 most indistinct beer I’ve ever had. run of the mill. really nothing interesting. alcohol.
1.7 Can from backlog. Pours yellow. White head. Nose and taste of corn, light metal and grain. Light bodied. Watery.
3.0 Not bad. Very much like a Yuengling Light. I like the branding. Mustache and monocle on one side of the can, and a Bowie and 3 buttons on the other. If you stack 2 cans you can make a Frothingslosh Man. Also has witty saying on cans like, "Includes free liquid inside." 3 different color cans. Considering price point ($13 for 30 cans) very good.
1.8 12oz bottle (old notes)-Pours a clear golden with a white head. Aroma of corn, sweetness, and pale lager aromas. Taste of the same. This light bodied brew is nothing to write home about.
2.5 12oz bottle. Didn’t pour it, straight out of the bottle, son! Not terrible actually! A great bad beer. Clean, decent palate, yeah it’s korny, but so what? It doesn’t offend, and that’s enough. Like Drinking American history.
1.9 New Beer Distributors, NY can ($1.75): Pours pale gold with a small white head. Aroma is grain, and your basic pale lager smells. Taste is rather inoffensive, but there are a few off-putting notes in here. Mostly just watery and bland, of course. I was expecting it to be worse.
1.9 Better than Coors and Budweiser but not as good as Pabst or Miller. I rated this on the can but I like I much better in a freezing cold bottle in a punk rock dive bar for a dollar a pop.
0.6 Can. One of the worst beers I have ever had, reminiscent of rotten bananas soaking in tap water.
2.8 16 June 2013, bottle. Light yellow, clear, some steady bubbles. Nose is lemon and straw, slightly sweet. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Sweet, slight lemon bitterness, perfumey.
