3.5 Draught from a sample plate at the brewery in Ardmore on May 1, 2016. Listed at 5.0% ABV and 40 IBU. Clear dark brown color, tan head with lacing. Malty, grainy, slight roasted taste. Roasted, grainy aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Roasted, grainy scent. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5
4.6 Truly solid porter with good roasty notes and minor sweet syrup. If gladly drink his all the time.
3.5 On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear cola brown with a thin tan head. Coffee, chocolate and roast on the nose. Medium bodied, lots of roast, chocolate coffee and cocoa bitterness. Finishes with lingering cocoa bitterness.
3.3 I’m having a hard time remembering this beer, since it’s been a few years, but I do remember it having a pretty robust flavor and a rich color. I also remember enjoying it, so that’s good too.
3.5 On tap at the Maple Shade brewpub. A brown, almost clear beer topped by a light beige head. The aroma has coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, quite balanced. There’s some bitterness and sweetness in the flavor, but it’s mostly roasted malts giving you chocolate and coffee. Smooth, dry and full to medium bodied and with a lasting finish. A nice beer, but more a brown ale than a porter I think. 150623
3.4 Draught @ Iron Hill, Maple Shade, NJ Pours dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long chocolate, coffee and caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.4 On tap at the brewpub in Media, PA. Pours with a red-brown body that has excllent clarity and highlights. Minimal head yet decent lacing. Very good bitter-sweet balance. No sour or other off notes. Light smoke in the finish and aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation.
3.6 Well this is an impressive porter from an impressive northeast USA brew-pub chain that sadly does not seem to be expanding in the direction of South Carolina. For a recent lunch outing I had a very positive visit to Iron Hill; along with delicious food, I enjoyed this, their standard line-up porter. Poured a solid ruby brown color, good frothy head. Smelled strong and fresh of coffee and earthy hops, taste was likewise a well balanced tasty porter stronger on the coffee side of the porter spectrum, while featuring a malty body and subtle bitter hops. Some chocolate malt in the background. Finished clean and smooth, although the mouthfeel struck me as thinner and weak, but very drinkable. Only real disappointment was that this was the only beer I got to sample at Iron Hill, I hope to visit again and try more!
3.4 Draught at Chestnut Hill location. Poured opaque nut brown with a small tan head. Aroma of nutty and roasty malt with a touch of coffee. Body is medium-to-full and lightly oily. Roasted coffee flavor with a light nuttiness underneath. The roasty note lingers pleasantly in the finish.
2.3 Maj 2014. Choklad och lakrits i den tämligen lilla doften. Samma komposition går igen i smaken. Ligger även med en lite syrlig karaktär. Blaskig och tunn, tyvärr. Eftersmaken är i det närmaste obefintlig.
4.1 On tap at Iron Hill Vorhees. Appearance: Deep opaque chestnut with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma: The aroma is complex with nuts, brown sugar, chocolate, roasted malts and a dash of smoke. Taste: Clean intro, slightly nutty. Mid taste picks up some chocolate with roast and caramel. Finish lingers lightly of smoke. Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated. Overall: Great porter, really drinkable. This is on par with the greats. Very affordable.

3.6 Had this at the lancaster pub. probably the best beer out of all the samples. Nice dark look. Very good tasting mild and friendly roasty effetcs. Smell is just good old plain mildly burnt wood. Never over the top. Yes, an overall really good beer, very enjoyable. Nicely done.
