Ithaca Apricot Wheat

Ithaca Apricot Wheat

An easy-drinking wheat beer is light in color and body...perfect for the warmer weather. In crafting this fine ale, we add many pounds of real apricot fruit to create a "secondary fermentation." This creates a gentle wheat beer with just a hint of apricot flavor in the finish. A very drinkable, mildly fruity ale.

2.5 Nice seasonal beer. Pours golden hazy color. Aroma is heavy fruit. Taste is fruity, medium sour + fruity. Overall a good summer sessional beer.
4.0 on tap at Marley’s Brewpub in Bloomsburg - great apricot aroma and flavor. Light and refreshing. An excellent summer beer.
3.1 Hazy , yellow color ; small , white head. Wheat , apricots and yeast in the aroma. Taste is similar , though presence of apricots is not so noticeable . Rather dry , with hint of bitterness .
1.9 Pours a clear gold. Has a strong fruit and wheat aroma. Has a strong fruit, wheat and grain taste. A dry and sweet aftertaste.
3.0 If you like the fruits in your beer this is good. It’s a heavy fruit and not subtle to me. Tap
2.6 Bottle->shaker. Hazy pale gold with thick frothy white head. Aroma and taste are strong apricot, wheat, grains. Nope.
2.7 Bottle (12 oz) bought @ Rouses Point Beer Emporium. No idea how old it is. Appearance: Clear pale yellow/golden with a medium quickly disappearing white head and little lacing. Aroma: Gummy peaches mostly with light herbal notes and not much else. Taste: Not very tasty. Mild gummy peach and light wheat acidity. Other than, there isn’t much more. Palate: Light body. Medium carbonation. Really watery. Bland finish. Overall: Very disappointing beer from Ithaca. Aroma is quite artificial despite real fruits being used. Bland and watery.
3.4 On tap at Ward 8 Pale orange color with a long lasting head. Overpowering apricot aroma and flavor. Kind of like a beer cooler, but it kind of worked.
2.9 For what this is, it’s really good. I am not a fan of these sort of ham fisted fruit brews but this is head and shoulders above most of its ilk--not that that makes for an especially great beer. This is cloudy orange in color with a small white head. This claims to have "just a hint of apricot flavor in the finish" and that may well be true but the nose is fairly well bathed in and dripping with apricot flavor. It is a bit heavy handed but not altogether unpleasant. This is just a touch sweet and really pretty bland except for the apricot flavor. It’s medium bodied w/ moderate carbonation and finishes pretty clean. I’d imagine I could slug a few of these back right from the bottle if I so desired and enjoy them well enough but from a glass the apricot does get to cloy after a while.
2.9 Rating from March 2014...Straw color...off white head....pretty basic looking for a wheat.....a nice whiff of apricot and dried apricots.....sweet flavor up front, this almost seems like a fruit beer, then its wheat.....some zing mid-palate....its good --goes down easy, would be nice with some sunshine!
2.7 Clear light golden, minimal white head. Strong apricot fruit nose, light hay. Sweet, slight hint of bitterness. Light body, reasonably carbonated. Fine.
3.0 12oz bottle from Weilands. Yellow gold pour with thin bright white. Aroma of apricot and wheat - as advertised. Tastes are wheat, yeast, sweet artificial apricot. Not a lot else going on - little watery.
2.7 Apricot smell and taste but the taste is artificial....buttery taste on the beer...very fake
3.5 On tap at Beer Authority New York September 2013. I find with Apricot beers that the apricot is usually hard to detect and this one was no different.
3.1 Transfer from BA review on 9-10-12 Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – Served a yellow-golden colored brew with a haze and a thin white head. The head faded fast to leave a light film on the top of the brew. Smell – The aroma is super sweet with tons of apricot, peach and even a little bit of sugar candy aroma. Taste – The taste of the beer is relatively constant through the whole taste experience. It is a flavor of wheat mixed with strong flavors of apricot and some peach. In the beginning of the taste is on the more sour side, where at the end of the taste it sweetens up a bit. In the end, a light citrus hop comes to the taste as well helping to balance out the semi-sweet apricot and wheat taste that are left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather light with a carbonation level that is slightly higher then average. Overall – Ah… It is an OK beer, but somewhat one dimensional and a bit to sour up front. Not one I would go to with real occasion.
3.4 Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks solid; a slightly cloudy lighter gold with white lacing. Smells pleasant; apricots and mild wheat. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Better than I expected, and better than its scores indicate IMO.
3.4 Draft: nice hazy slightly orange-yellow with a big white head. Aromas are big fruit smells... Definitely apricot, but more too... Flowery. Taste us very nice... Apricot, if course, and some breadiness... Very surprised that thus is as enjoyable as it is.
3.5 On tap at Dutch’s. Mostly hazy yellow golden color. Good thin white head. Leaves decent, kind of loose splotches of lace. Nice big apricot and creme aroma. Some light cheese cake -type fruitiness, maybe a hint of strawberry? Very interesting, tasty fruit aroma. Light to medium body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. Crisp and easy drinking with a lightly dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, light dry finish. Not sugary or syrupy or over sweet or anything. Pretty tasty, refreshing fruit-wheat beer. Much better than expected.
3.2 Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Tom L. Pours yellow with a medium head, aroma of apricot tea, apricot, flavor of apricot tea, a bit artificial, slightly bitter towards the end, medium bodied.
3.0 12oz bottle from Wegman’s, Buffalo, NY. Straw coloured with a ring of white head; apricot aroma; and apricot taste, and pleasantly dry with a floury body; and a tart clean finish.
2.8 Really fruity aroma. Sweet taste not much wheat coming through in the beer. Light body. Not bad.
2.7 Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Tom L. Slightly hazy blonde. Big apricot aroma. Sweetish flavor, wheaty, with light graininess, apricot and a slightly bitterish husky finish. Light-bodied, kinda watery.
2.8 Fruity apricot sweet aroma. Cloudy yellow color. Flavor is sticky sweet fruity, not unpleasant, if you are looking for a wine cooler made from natural craft ingredients you may enjoy this. Not for me.
3.4 Bottle. Nose is heavy, syrupy apricot, I’m surprised by how real and jammy is smells instead of artificial or Jolly Rancher’d. Pours hazy deep golden with above-avg carb and a white head that’s gone in two shakes of a tail feather. Taste is somewhat dry, has a bready finish, very low bitterness. Full, crisp, heavy body. Base ale is a little weak, though the wheat aspect is fine, just want a little malt and perhaps a smidgen more cleanliness. Mild low levels of sweetness and tartness are really appreciated here, and with the pure strain of apricot going, has a chance to really be something special to a lot of people.
2.4 This is an odd one. Pours opaque blonde, and its aromas are sweet and fruity. There is little carbonation and no head or lacing. Hints of grapefruit, lemon, honey, and apricot make for a very sweet, very mediocre beer. Would never buy again.
2.7 Draft. Hazy straw color, small white edge head. Aroma of light citrus. Taste has a bit of apricot.
3.2 Draft at Milk Boy. Cloudy straw pour with a slight foamy head. Pungent apricot off the nose. Some bright notres. Apricot dominates but a nice full flavorfull spread dominates. Bright wheat notes. Worth trying.
3.1 A: Golden Straw Hue, Passes Most Light, White Head Ring, Some Lacing S: Apricot, Light Wheat T: Apricot, Light Wheat M: Average Carbonation, Light Bodied, Mildly Tart Overall, its somewhat light on nose and flavor for the style.
3.1 It’s not as bad as you think. Smell apricot, lemon. Come in light yellow. Taste light apricot, somewhat acidity and slimy. Just alright, easy lady beer.
2.7 Bottle. Clear gold with a nice 1 finger off white head. Aroma is peach syrup and slightly floral. Taste is apricot, wheat, lager yeast and some unpleasant breadiness that I can't quite put my finger on. Thin fizzy palate. Not wonderful.
