Jack's Abby Framinghammer - Barrel Aged

Bourbon Barrel Aged.
Big, bold, black and barrel aged. A lengthy conditioning period in bourbon barrels creates a silky smooth chocolatey mouth feel enhanced by the use of oats and brown sugar. Noticeable sweetness gets balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. Additional flavors include bourbon, vanilla and oak.

3.7 Melasa, palony karmel, alkholowa nuta bourbonu. Ciało niezbyt gęste, suszone owoce, alkohol lekko rozgrzewajacy.
4.1 Dark brown color. Very thin , beige head. Roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate and some bread in the aroma. Moderately sweet and surprisingly easy to drink.
3.7 500mL bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is smoke, bourbon, caramel, and some brown sugar. Taste is caramel, bourbon, chocolate, brown sugar, smoke, and a little oak. Light booziness. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Slick, smooth mouthfeel.
4.3 500ml bottle, 2018 vintage. Rich roasted malt aroma with notes of bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate and brown sugar. Pours inky black with a thin mocha brown head that has some retention and excellent lacing. Starts with roasted malt, brown sugar and dark chocolate as well as having a silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes very smooth with bourbon, vanilla and oak flavors. Delicious and decadent porter.
3.7 Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that lingers. Roasted coffee, whiskey and prune aromas as it warms. More dried fruit, roasted chocolate malt, cacao nib and dried oak whisky notes. Lingering roasty bitterness, cacao and whisky with a touch of vanilla.
3.7 Black hue in the glass under a thin light tan head. Rich dark aroma that’s gently earthy and smokey, light bit of wood, maybe a hint of whiskey. Smooth dark flavor that’s roasty and earthy, bit of black malt, hint of scotch and oak.
4.0 On tap at Hops & Pie (Bourbon Barrel Aged). Black appearance with a tan head. Aroma of cocoa, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, mild oak and light bourbon barrel complexities. Similar flavor, rich, dark and complex and a nice bittersweet balance. Medium to full body with soft carbonation, a creamy feel and a smooth finish. 3.95
4.2 Pours barely translucent chocolate with a fair buff head. Aroma yields bourbon, woody, roast malt and caramel tones. Flavor delivers bourbon, roast malt, catamel, woody, and subtle spice notes. Flavor offers good body and peppy fizz. Get framinghammered - but please call a ride if ya do.
3.9 8n tap at Hops and Pie poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, cocoa, licorice and dried fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bourbon, oak, dark chocolate and light dried fruit with a smooth dry lingering chocolate bourbon finish.
4.0 4/21/2018 (1 pint .9 fl oz bottle): Lovely aroma of bourbon whiskey and creme brulee; dark brown color with a thin off-white crown; really great bourbon flavors without being in your face all over the place, vanilla, char, hints of dark chocolate, warming finish; medium body, smooth, slightly creamy; damn fine beer, I really enjoyed this one with my BEERster breakfast.
3.7 Tap at Jack's Abby, Framingham. Colour is dark brown with very small slightly brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Dark chocolate, coffee, some bourbon, some vanilla and roasted malts.
4.3 Growler purchased from tap at Beer Cave in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Pours black with brown highlights, no head or lacing. Aroma: dark dried fruits, molasses, both faint. Flavor: Molasses, dark chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, figs, dates, raisins. prunes, coconut, vanilla, char, bourbon. Mouthfeel: full-bodied, silky smooth texture, boozy warmth at the finish.
4.0 Pours dark, dark brown with medium, dense head. Aroma is caramel, bourbon and roast. Taste is brown sugar, toffee and bourbon. Finish is smooth bourbon, with a very slight burn. An excellent barrel-aged porter.
(Rating #7935)
3.8 500 ml from that shop in Boston. Dark pour with rich notes of chocolate and a bit of barrel. I'd like more bourbon barrel to it. But nice.
3.9 My Bottom Line: Cocoa, tobacco and roasted cereals coalesce in this cushy Barrel-Aged Baltic-style Porter. Further Personal Perceptions: -A veil of foam covers the blackness. -Bourbon barrel flavors are discreet, for once. -Alcohol is very well hidden. -Earthiness is found within as well. This is rather complex. Bottle.
4.6 Bottle from AJ's Beer Warehouse. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate.
3.8 RBSG 17. Pours a pitch black color with a medium tan head. A big whiskey nose. Roast, vanilla, caramel, sugary hot barrel. Big whiskey, nice palate.
3.5 Bottle from Steve at RBSG. Near black pour, tiny ring of head. Mild boozy aroma, whiskey notes. Maple syrup, molasses. A bit of heat, lingering bitterness.
3.8 Black pour with a thin ring of off white head ... aroma of vanilla, light nuts, bourbon, roasted malts, chocolate and some dark fruity yeast along with oak .... taste is of nuts, nougat, vanilla, bourbon, roasted malts, chocolate and dark fruity yeast .... has a bit of a coconut to it ..... has a bit of slick and oily mouthfeel .... abv hidden well .... aroma is not overwhelming, but this drinks really well .... finish is bitter with lots of nougat, nuts, vanilla and oak .... good stuff
4.3 Aroma of brown sugar, malt, lactose, oak and bourbon. Getting a lot of heat from the bourbon but it’s smooth like damn good bourbon. A level of creamy malt, spice, cocoa and burnt oak. Incredibly smooth and delicious. Wow.
4.0 500mL bottle. Who would know it’s barrel aged, particularly bourbon. Light smoke and fume. Earthy clean lager. Light chocolate. Super drinkable.
3.9 Dark black in color... Aroma of dark malts, coffee, vanilla... flavor is coffee, dark nutty malts, vanilla, chocolate... solid
4.2 Ar: Cocoa and dark caramels; treacle, cherry, and black pepper, all at medium-low intensity; a bit of hay. Ap: Deep brown, opaque; medium-large tan head with very good retention, leaving a web of foam as it subsides but retaining a thick, frothy cap of medium and small bubbles. T: Licorice, bourbon, and tar up front; rich dark chocolate and raisins, some rum spice; black currant and treacle; bitterness is medium, very herbal; medium sweetness throughout. P: Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation; finish is medium-dry. O: Absolutely spectacular; one of the best bourbon-barrel-aged beers I’ve had; all of the classic Baltic porter flavors--dark caramel, dried red fruits, and chocolate--mingle beautifully with the rich, spicy flavor of the bourbon.
3.8 Opaque black with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Roasty, smoke, vanilla, charred wood, and bourbon in the finish.
4.0 16.9 oz. bottle. Poured dark brown with a short lived off white head. No lace. Strong bourbon aroma with secondary chocolate, vanilla and oak tannin. Semi sweetness on the flavor. Everything in the nose is also present on the tongue. Pick up a hint of the brown sugar the label mentions. Bourbon notes keep the chocolate and caramel from being to sweet. Oats give the body smoothness. Medium bodied. This was nice!
4.4 From the .5 liter bottle with no date that I can see. It pours a deep dark brown to near black with a moderate tan head that fades. The Bourbon barrel aging is most evident in the aroma along with roasted dark malts, sweet dark bread, and a low to no hop profile. But if you are looking for some barrel-aged sensation you will not be disappointed with this one. The body is smooth and around medium. The sweet roasted dark malts can be found more so in the taste along with that slightly boozy barrel aging sensation that sticks with the palate from start to finish. And yet it maintains the sweetness of a good Porter. Nice job Jack’s Abby.
3.9 Bottle via IP trade. Poured a medium to slightly fuller density of pitch black under an average sized tight foamy beige head. Aroma is a bit off. Light sour dark cherry notes are beginning to creep in over the dry dark chocolate and light woody bourbon. As the beer warms the sour disappears and some roasted coconut comes out. Flavor is very dry chocolate, light vanilla bourbon, wood, burnt toast, earthy. Fuller body, starts off syrupy but eventually it turns into an almost harsh dryness on the end. Nice once the sourness disappears.
