Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Black Maple
Imperial porter brewed with maple syrup and aged in bourbon barrels.
Black Maple was first brewed as a one-off batch designed to explore the capabilities of our brewhouse. After its long rest in bourbon barrels, Black Maple quickly became a perennial favorite. Now brewed every year in summer, Black Maple features a diverse grist of barley, wheat, chocolate malt, caramel malt, and a pinch of smoked salt. Locally harvested maple syrup, added late in the boil, adds earthy complexities to this lavish imperial porter.

Bottle 375ml shared at Kultainen Apina. A black beer with beige head. Roasted malts, bourbon, honey, alcohol, vanilla, maple cyrup, dried fruits. Full body, oily texture.
375ml bottle. Dry, heavy and slightly sweetish with some bourbon, maple, vanilla and coffee. Smooth and quite balanced, not as over the top as I feared it would be.
Bottle from a friend. Black color, beige head. Bitter taste with roasted malts, bourbon, oak, chocolate, nuts and coffee. Bitter finish with roasted malts, chocolate, nuts, coffee, bourbon, oak and dark fruits. Very nice imperial stout.
Bottle. Color black with medium head. Aroma malt, roasted, alcohol, bourbon, some honey. Taste sweet, malt, bourbon, some chocolate, some vanilla, alcohol.
The aroma is packed with bourbon, maple, dried fruits and malt. The color is pitch black. The taste is packed with bourbon, maple, dried fruits, malt, chocolate, coffee, roasted coffee beans and roasted malt. A nice beer!
MBCC 2017 Red session. Black body with a small beige head. Aroma of maple, bourbon, roast and chocolate. Taste is thick dark fruity with maple and hazelnut, vanilla, warm bourbon notes. Sweet roasted finish. A very enjoyable maple stout.
Bottle at home. Very dark brown pour, foamy beige bubbles. Intense mocha, praline, butterscotch, maple nose topped off by vanilla, boozy bourbon notes, some vinous red fruit, cola. Lingers nicely. Prickly mouthfeel, medium-high carbonation, big taste notes but lacks some body.

375mml. bottle. Shared with the RB Crew on the 09/05/2018 at "Himmeriget", Copenhagen. Dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma of bourbon barrels, dark chocolate, maple syrup and roasted malts. Taste is bourbon barrels, vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Warm, caramelish and harsh finish. Next one please!!
Bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, maple, vanilla. Taste is chocolate, maple, extreme. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. A bit too harsh.
Aromat: świetny, czekolada, syrop klonowy, wanilia, karmel, rodzynki, delikatny bourbon. Wszystko dobrze zbalansowane tworzy świetną całość. Świetna beczka w aromacie.
Wygląd: czarne, smoliste, z kremową, drobnopęcherzykową, niewielką pianką która szybko zanika.
Smak: zaskoczenie że takie wytrawne bo oczekiwałem na uderzenie słodyczy a tu wszystko jest zrównoważone i świetnie stonowane. Mocna beczka, bourbon, wanilia, karmel, czekolada, nuty drewna, syrop klonowy dobrze wpasowany, nieprzegięty i niczego nie zagłusza. Mogło by być nieco bardziej intensywne bo jest trochę neutralne no i ciało mogło by być większe.
Odczucie: ciało ponad średnią, wysycenie niskie, gładkie, alkohol ułożony, na finiszu chyba głównie drzewne nuty.
Całość: fajne, bardzo wyważone piwko, subtelne, bez szaleństw, z bardzo dobrą beczką i umiarkowanym dodatkiem syropu klonowego. Jak dla mnie mogło by być agresywniejsze i słodsze ale i tak jest bardzo dobrze. 8/4/7/4/15

Aroma: pure maple, vanilla, sweet coffee.
Appearance: black color, small head.
Taste: sweet, flavour of maple, vanila, walnuts
Palate: medium to full body, low carbonation.
Overall: MAPLE OVERLOAD, bit too one-dimensional to my taste tho.
Obfita, ale sycząca piana, prawie czarna barwa z brązowymi refleksami. W aromacie orzechy laskowe, kokos, wanilia, czekolada, niedojrzałe orzechy włoskie. W smaku słodkie, dominuje syrop klonowy, czekolada, kokos, bourbon i wanilina. Niska, palona goryczka, średnie wysycenie, dość rzadkie w odbiorze.
Ogólnie to raczej słabsze z beczkowych piw od Jackie O's, głównie z uwagi na wątłe body, sporą alkoholowość i obcą nutę zielonej skórki włoskich orzechów...

Fajny profil beczki, #teamslodyczka, wanilia, tego maple to jakos bez szalenstw, ciut przyprawowe, niestety znow ciala niezaduzo. 4.1? 4.0?
Blackish brown colour with very small head going to the sides of the glass and disappear. Aroma had Bourbon, wood, dark roasted malts, smoked note, sweetness as well, dunno about the maple. Taste has roasted malts, dark chocolate, molasses, after taste has smoked, almost ash. Very light body for 12 ABV beer, almost no carbonation. A bit harsh, so not my favorite.
375 ml bottle (12,1% abv).
Pours black color with a small beige head. Very strong bourbon on the nose with lots of vanilla, toasted malts, licorice, faint honey, chocolate. Flavor is super sweet with vanilla and chocolate, tingling bourbon and alcohol notes, toasted malty, faint cocoa, some licorice and subtle spice notes on the finish. Very lovely bourbon overdose slow sipper, the alcohol gets slightly too strong towards the end though.

Keg (12.5%) at Man in The Moon, Stockholm. Black with small beige head. Rich aroma of vanilla and maple syrup. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Treacle and licorice, vanilla and maple syrup. Mild black pepper finish.
Pours dark with nice reddish glints, small head. Incredibly strong barrel, woody, vanilla, dark fruits, also maple. Sweet, ashy, for me lack of heavier counter, cocoa for example. Also could have more body. Nevertheless, nice porter BA.

Maple vanilla borbon aroma with the sweet roasted malt. Really rich and smooth and delicious. Balanced and well made.
In smells so nice. It is a blend of great woody-vanilla barrel with the maple dash. The flavor is a bit disappointing as it is boozy and kind of flat.
From tap at MBCC 17. Black color with beige head. Malty aroma, chocolate, licorice, maple, wood, bourbon, vanilla. Heavy sweet and light bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
From Jackie O’s and aged in my old basement for over a year. Hardly any head with some quick bubbles that leave a creamy, thin, beige ring. Color is black with a fair amount of debris falling to the bottom. No lace. Big black licorice qualities, bourbon, molasses, brown sugar, raisin sweetness and light nuttiness. Just shy of a full bodied mouthfeel and a little bourbon heat in the finish. I was actually hoping for more distinguished maple syrup flavors.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, small dark broen colored head that disappears virtually instantly. Aroma is malts, maple, bourbon. Taste malts, bourbon, maple again as is to be expected, sweet, some sweet raisins and brown sugar. Medium body, a bit thin texture, soft carbonation. Nice.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, vanilla, oak, chocolate, cocoa and caramel. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate, oak, vanilla, cocoa and caraeml. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Sample @ MBCC 2017. Aromas of bread, maple, chocolate, licorice. Taste has maple, dark chocolate, bready malty notes, vanilla.
