Jackie O's Mystic Mama

Jackie O's Mystic Mama

This is that big sticky hop elixir that I have always wanted to brew. Columbus and Warrior hops lend an assertive bitterness. Amarillo, Simcoe, and Centennial hops give this beer tons of great flavors of grapefruit, tangerines, and pine needles. A big dry hop addition of Amarillo and Simcoe give Mystic Mama a nose to stand up to the flavor.

3.7 Gold pour. Thin fine foam. Even lace. Hoppy taste. Wheat flavor. Wheat palate.
3.1 Honey and clementine nose. Cloudy amber, thick sticky head, abundant sediment wisps and fine solids. Oranges and grass. Medium body, easy carbonation.
3.9 Can from Corti Bros. Pours brassy gold with a creamy foamy white head. Aroma of pine/resin and mixed citrus. Med plus body. Flavor is very hoppy, somewhat resiny, and has citrus that includes grapefruit pith. Supporting malt is detectable with effort. This is not harsh, but very bitter nonetheless. Excellent.
3.6 Poured from 12 oz. can. Hazy yellow with a large off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pine other citrus and dry grass. Taste of grapefruit, pine, lemon, resin, floral hops and grass. Medium body and medium carbonation. Very hoppy and exceptionally bitter. An interesting aggressive IPA. Good, but this would be far from my favorite hop blend.
3.6 Can. Golden beer with a big cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma with light summer fruit. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light tropical fruit. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine linger.
3.5 12 oz can. Hazy light golden color with a big fluffy white head. Sweet citrus and grassy aroma. Bitter and soapy. Pine, grapefruit, honey, and orange juice. Pretty good and enjoyable. Dry. Not great or very interesting.
3.5 Pint at The Winking Lizard in Copley Ohio. Smell the hops. Deep yellow in color with little head and white head with this draft. Taste the citrus hops Hoppy aftertastes and decent for the style. Cheers!
3.8 Can from BrewDog Brum ...and I would say fair enough. Clean and clear essence of IPA, this is how it should be done.
3.7 Keg at BD Bingoham, 02/08/19. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is pine needle, bitter orange, caramel, grapefruit. Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, pine, melon, mango, tropical fruits, toasted malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness. Decent well rounded old skool leaning IPA.
3.8 Keg, Brewdog Leicester. Hazy golden with a white head. Pithy citrus with spicy grass and pine. Nutty. Earthy and herbal. Pithy grapefruit. Stone fruit. Dry finish. Very good.
3.5 355ml Dose. Klar und golden mit mittelgroßer Schaumkrone. Trocken hopfig. Blumiges Aroma. Ordentlicher Körper. Feinherber, leicht anhaltender Abgang.
3.8 32oz crowler pours with a slightly hazy deep gold body that supports a thin near white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up grapefruit, citrus nuanced mint and slightly under ripe cantaloupe. The taste delivers bitter grapefruit and onion hop dankness as well as a thin layer of bitter floral hops. Alongside the bitterness are thin streams of juicy grapefruit and clementine and cantaloupe. A third facet of the experience is the modestly herbal and faintly mint character that's going on in here somewhere. Nice IPA.
3.5 Aroma of pink grapefruit and pine. Pours clear golden. Taste is medium sweet to bitter. Palate is medium bodied oily texture soft carbonation and a bitter finish. Overall, good enough.
3.7 On tap at Hops & Pie poured a clear yellow with a lasting creamy white head. Aromas of straw, pine, earthiness and a hint if citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, earthiness and pine with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.
3.8 $2.10 can, Wine Warehouse. Pours pale gold with a soft yellowish head. Aroma is pine, pot, grapefruit peel. Flavor is pine, lemon juice and peel, pot. Good flavor - tastes like a cleaning product but in a good way.
3.6 Rerate 2-27-19, Conf 4-21-23 CBC Prev 3.9 Tap Hops & Pie 11-6-14
3.8 tap, rated last summer - Pours hazy light gold with a lingering white head that laces well. There's a pleasant tropical fruit led aroma. The flavor is moderately bitter with a solid malt balance and tropical fruit notes. It's medium bodied and very good.
3.6 Can from Mount Juliet beer Company poured into my trusty TN pumpkin mug. Just a nice solid IPA with medium bitterness. Good mix of citrus and pine bitterness. Not overly dank or bitter. Pleasant.
3.3 Draught at Ginger Man, 12/7/18. Lightly hazy, lemon-golden with a fluffy white head showing modest retention. Nose is quite intensely citric. Hmmm, was hoping for a NE IPA, but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case. Cracker malts lie behind it with no other real malt character to balance the big pine-grapefruit-pineapple character. The pineapple and meyer lemon help add some levity and tropical character, but it's dangerously heavy on the citrus and pine. In the mouth it's very dry, with tight carbonation and a good cleanliness. Snappy, crackery malts do nothing to help balance the heavy grapefruit-lemon character. Light peach, pine and pineapple sit on the finish with moderate-to-high bitterness. Substantial texture and it's clean, but just way too much bitterness and dull citrus character for me.
3.8 Draft somewhere in northern Indiana. Straw yellow, ~clear body, medium tight white head. Fruity, clean body with citrus and citrus peel, lemon, and a muddled modestly bitter finish. Delicate maltiness. The complexity really shines after the beer warms up a bit. Very nice IPA.
3.8 Fresh can from Craft Brewed. Glad to Jackie O's down here in Nashville now. Pours a relatively clear deep gold with some copper highlights. A punch of tropical fruit upon opening with grapefruit standing out as it warms. Some kiwi and peach in there as well. Clean and crisp on the palate, with just the right amount of malt for a midwestern styled IPA. Toffee, toasted bready malt, pine, dank and citrus notes on the palate as well. Medium bitterness with toffee malt and citrus on the finish. Just a solid all-around beer.
3.8 On tap Columbus Hilton bar
4.2 Holy shot smells like weed. Clear straw pour. Aroma is weed. Taste is funky weed, citrus and grain. Like it.
3.5 On tap at Choice City. Light golden pour. Aroma is bitter citrus hops. Taste follows, a little more bitter than I'd like. Pretty good.
4.6 2017 rating. A nice hop forward offering that assaults the tongue quickly and aggressively before falling off pleasantly.
4.3 Can purchased in Cleveland, 1.5 months old. Aroma is pine needle with citrus assertiveness. Amazing head that keeps giving and perfect clarity. Mouthfeel is solid and chewy. Very nice for the abv. Spot on exactly. Taste is citurs with a fading pine. It all works together in beauty.
3.9 (En fût à la source): Pizza Port style IPA avec l'aspect collant mais souple avec une cohérente combinaison ananas/gazon.
3.6 Tap at Choice City. Clear gold pour with a white head. Pine and citrus, lively carbonation and bright hop bite. Good stuff.
3.7 Draft at Cork City. Mostly clear gold, nice white head and frothy lace. Resiny hop, some pine, citrus rind, and a little vegetation. Drinks fairly bitter. Nice mouthfeel, moderate carbonation.
3.9 12oz can from Vintage Estate in Boardman - the place for all things Jackie O. Lighter than IPA pour. Off-white head with coats of lace. Nice citrus tangy tropical fruit nose. Tangy taste with tropical and citrus fruits. Quite bittersweet and tangy. Solid tangy and tasty. 14.2
