Jester King Boxer's Revenge

Jester King Boxer's Revenge

Boxer’s Revenge is inspired by the hearty “stock ales” or “provision ales” produced by some of iconic farmhouse breweries located along the Franco-Belgian border and named in honor of the stalwart workhorse in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. It combines delicate notes of tropical fruit, citrus and spice from the primary French farmhouse yeast with tart, rustic, earthy notes from the Brettanomyces. A final dry-hopping with fresh Cascade and Centennial hops adds yet another layer of depth and complexity.

4.0 Bottled 750ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Unclear orange coloured, medium sized white head, tart, slight citric and woody nose. Sweetish yeasty, citrusy, fruity and tartish with light notes of wood in the finish. Enjoyable and well done.
4.4 Bottle, blend #9, 03.22.17, 9.5%. Color: Hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma: Fruity sourish, funk. Taste: Complex combination of citrus and tropical fruity notes, moderate to medium sour, subtle spicy and floral notes, funky yeast and earthy and wood hints. Moderate bitter, light to moderate sweet. Dry mouthfeel. Long lasting very nice funky and fruity finish. Superb Wild Ale, very well balanced flavours.
3.9 There is some sourness, but it is not overwhelming. There is some brett and a bit of a woody character. There is a bit of leather, white wine, and fruitiness to it.
4.2 On tap at OMBF 2018, Krakow. Hazy orange with white head. Funk, barrel, horseblanket, some fruit, citrus, some sweetness, nice medium sourness. Medium bodied.
4.0 Keg at the hanging bat, possibly not this beer? Pours deep amber orange, nose is funk, citrus, beeswax, taste is juicy, funky, oak. 3.8 Keg at the hanging bat. Pours Orange, nose is funk, oak, citrus, taste is quite tart, juicy, sweet, fruity, oak, funk. 4
4.1 On tap. Pours a dull copper with light head. Aromas of mashed fruit, pineapple, and sweet malts. Flavors of malty pineapple upside down cake - really - lots of cooked sweet pineapple, brown sugar and doughy malts. Ok some earthy Brett and copper as well. Most excellent.
3.6 A glass at Bells and Whistles shared with Sunshine. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet with some sweet caramel, bread, and light mushroom notes. Similar taste with lots of bread notes. Bread bomb, but it's ok.
3.4 Draught, Bells & Whistles. Has a bit of haze, light tan. Just a thin head. On the nose, this has some alcohol, some malt stickiness, just a touch of brett and wood. On the palate, the alcohol sort of barges in and clutters the place up. It's still got some nice tartness and brett, and the wood character is quite nice, but the base isn't working out for me. I think more like the Gale's Prize Old Ale interpretation of the concept is more the sort of thing I'd love, but taking this on its own the alcohol is just a bit too strong and messes with the balance - still good and Jester Kingy, but yeah.
4.3 OMBF 2018. Genialny, niesamowicie złożony aromat - masa kwachu, masa stajni, masa konia. Mnóstwo cytryny i dębiny. Alkoholu zero, nic. Petarda, mój nr 1 festiwalu.
4.2 (OMBF 2018) Barwa złota, piana biała. Aromat intesnywny, żółte owoce, lekkie tropiki ze słodkimi tropikami, na drugim palnie nuty dzikie, wioskowe. W smaku wytrawne, cytrynowo kwaśne, żółte owoce, tropiki, cierpki, drewniany finisz, z posmakiem wanilii.

3.6 (on tap) Aroma:horse blanket, leather, funk, apple skin, Taste: lightly sour, sweet, flavour of malt, peaches and leather. Palate: medium body, quite boozy, medium carbonation. Overall: Decent one, yet booz is detectable
3.8 One More Beer Festival, Krakow 2018. Quite sweet, moderately sour, lots of overripe fruits.
3.9 Pite na One More Beer Festival. Piana trwała, zdobi szkło. W aromacie praca dzikich drożdży, białe owoce, derka, siano. W smaku wytrawne, kwas w stronę mocnego, lekko octowy finisz imho. Robi spore wrażenie, bardzo dobre.

3.5 One More Beer Festival 2018. Kwaśne, owocowe, lekko dzikie, średnie, trochę nijakie,
4.3 OMBF2.
4.1 OMBF2018. Bardzo fajna dzikość, taka stajenna nie skórzana. Znakomita gładka, kremowa tekstura, pestkowa cierpkość i piękna wanilia.
3.6 Pours golden yellow with small head. Aroma: funk, citrus, honey, lavemder. Taste: tart and funky, citrussy, with a dry finnish.
4.0 A 1 pint 9.4 fl. oz. bottle, blend #9, bottled on 22nd March 2017. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. It was a hazy golden copper colour with a two finger white head that had good retention and left some nice lacing. Aromas were funky, tart, oak, hay with some light tropical fruit, mostly apricot. Tastes tart, funky, tropical peach and apricot, citrus lemon, oak, hay and a light earthiness. Dry, medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, nice funk and fruit aromas and flavours. Although ABV is quite high, it still goes down really easy.
2.9 Draft. A- Caramel, malty, mild funk, raisins. A- Brown color, clear liquid, white head. T- Mild caramel, malty, bland. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- A bit unimpressed here. A bit watery and bland. There was a touch of funk to it and loads of malty caramel. Didn't drink like 10% but wasn't very complex either.
4.0 Schön fruchtig in der Nase - im Trunk sauer, ländlich urtümlich, kernig, Äpfel, Vergorenes, Federweißer, mittig trocken, leicht alkoholisch. Dennoch verdammt gute Drinkability. Langer fruchtiger Nachhall. Fantastisch.
3.5 75 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy golden with a white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are citrus, tart, and funk - with a slightly tart finish.
3.9 750ml bottle. Tropical fruit aroma with notes of grapefruit citrus, Brett funk, oak and barnyard. Pours cloudy golden-orange colored with a thin white head that has some retention and good lacing. Starts with tropical fruit and grapefruit citrus flavors as well as a lively mouthfeel. Finishes dry and tart with barnyard, Brett funk and oak flavors. Really nice.

3.4 Shared 750 ml. bottle poured to a snifter showing a hazed, orangey color, with a modest layer of bubbly, soft white foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was light yeasty funk, some oaky tannins, earthiness, straw, slight piss, and esters as citrus & pit fruit. The taste was somewhat similar, medium bodied, very tart & tangy, dry, with low effervescence, but a puckering presence and some alcohol to make up for it.
3.8 Blend #9 bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a pretty copper with two fingers of foam that lingers. Earthy brett aromas with hay, some light dried pineapple and oak. Tart on the palate, with some cherry and vinegar flavors. Clean and crisp, with a medium to medium strong tartness throughout. More brett, horseblanket and dried fruit notes on the finish. Warming alcohol present as well.
3.8 750ml bottle brought by bananabi11. Shared by all. 2016 vintage. Excited to try my first Jester King! Hazy ipa pour. Big berry. Big sour. Funk. Definite wild yeast presence. Oak. Very sour. A touch of sweet tarts. So tangy tart and strongly wild. Medium bodied or a bit more. Some alcohol presence. The blend is good. Finishes strongly sour tart. 4 Wow! Strong. Certainly wild. Flavorful. 14.1
4.1 Pours a deep golden brown from the bottle with bubbly white head that dissipates to leave light lace. Aroma of nice lactic acidity and earthy brett funk, a touch of citrus in the middle, and nice piney hop notes on the end. Taste follows, like the biggest and best sour/funky IPA you have ever had. The booze is well hidden, tasty for sure.
