3.7 Bottle. Clear light yellow pour with a white head. Sour lemon bouquet. Mild lemon and citrus highlights Some florally lowlights. Average body and mouthfeel.
3.3 Reviewed from notes: pours a cloudy/hazy straw yellow with white head. Funk, oak, vanilla, and some tartness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes tart and dry.
3.7 Bottle @ DLD. Tart funky lemon, woodruff/vanilla aroma. Cloudy straw gold with a moderate white head. Light body, moderate carbonation. Very tasty.
3.9 750 ml bottle thanks to errl. Pours a clear yellow with a fizzy white head of foam. The aroma has nice citrus notes like lemon zest and oranges, but there’s also a musty, earthy quality coming through. The taste is not really sour, but it’s on the verge of it. Maybe just a touch tart, but more musty would be how I describe it. Medium body with medium to high carbonation. It was a nice way to break up the heavy beers we had opened so far.
3.7 Bottle, 75cl. Thanks Sølve. It pours a hazy unclear orange colored body and a small white head. The aroma is pretty lovely, wonderfully funky, with orange peel, pine cones and black pepper. Equally lovely flavor, a nice bitterness chiming in. Some yeast, lots of oranges and pine cones.Dry, effervescent and medium bodied. Lasting finish. Sure a refreshing and tasteful one, hope to see it again. 140329
4.2 I love beer! My ratings are too high. But this one earned it!! Organic greatness. Beautiful smell! Great sour taste! Jester King is solid!
3.8 Bottle pour cloudy yellow. Nose sour and tart some floral. Taste similar to nose tart frontand mild funk. Fairly smooth mouth. Vanilla and oak late.
4.0 750ml bottle thanks to Errl! Pours cloudy orange with a very thin bubbly head, low carbonation. Nose is musty woody orange peel and peach. Taste is tart orange, apple, peach, earthy wood, some subtle dusty spice. Finish is tart dry citrus and barrel. Tasty!
3.8 Bottle 750ml. Pours golden with medium off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of bretts, apricots, fruits. Taste is of acidity, fruits, herbs, bretts, cucumbers. Palate: Light body. Almost watery. Low carbonation. Overall: Good!
3.9 Bottle (750 ml). From SlovakSniper, thanks! Hazy golden with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is mainly of brettanomyces along with plenty of fruits (apricots, citrus), nice funk, light tartness and floral presence. Taste is very fruity with brettanomyces, leather, wood, nice tartness, minty notes and a light floral presence. No alcohol feeling here, it’s drinking like a 4% abv beer. Light body. Low carbonation. Dry finish. Heavily drinkable despite the lack of carbonation (a little more could really help). Enticing aroma. Good use of the brettanomyces. Another good one from Jester King!
(Rating #5411)
3.8 Pours a sienna orange color with a touch of gaseous bubbles rising to the top. The nose is funky barrel fruit, apricot, nectarine mango and even a touch of acidic cranberry and orange zest. The palate follows the nose with lots off fruit soaked funky barrels notes, some doughy malt presence and a trace of leathery wood on the finish.
3.6 750ml bottle from IPB. Clear yellow with very small head. Nose great citrusy tartness with horsey brett notes. Woody tannic notes with very light acetic notes. Light tropical fruits bretty notes. Some honey on nose as well. Taste brett with citrusy notes. Tannic wood on the finish. Very soft carbonation maybe a bit too soft for the style. Finish light alcohol and light spices. Overall fairly nice brett profile with nice acidity and tartness. Palate could be improved a bit. Fairly astringent finish.
3.1 @borefts 2012 sick sour! but in the end it more sweet tones are beginning to shine through... is this a saison??
3.8 750 ml bottle poured a clear gold with a lingering ring of white foam. Aromas of straw, barnyard funk, lemon zest, yeast and white pepper. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of straw, barnyard funk and lemon zest with a smooth dry lingering funky lemon finish.
3.7 Keg@CBC2013 Slightly hazy yellow, small white head. Tart, spicey (is it coriander?) aroma, some grapes. Light to medium-bodied. Tart, citric, mouthwatering. Long citric tart aftertaste. Very interesting.
3.7 Pretty tasty beer. Light hoppiness and some spicy yeast esters. Mild tartness and a bit oc a lactic presence. I get a little spicy hoppiness. Funky and nice.
3.8 Good finisher for the. Tasting, saison flavors, some Brett, sweet and malty, pretty good stuff
3.8 Pour on tap at GABF, hazy yellow pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of big lemon, tart fruits, hints of grass, slight spice and yeasty notes, hints of oak, vanilla in there, touch of funky tones come through as well. Taste is a mix of tart fruit, lemon, slight grassy and spicy tone into some white fruits, some cracker, biscuit, touch of oak, finishing bitter, slightly tart.
4.2 bottle shared by mathieuc, many thanks bro! pours hazy golden orange with a nice off-white cap, good retention and strong lacing. fresh pils and lightly toasted malts, fruitiness-plenty, bursting tart fruits conveyed by light acidity and alcohol - apricots, oranges, lemons, spices, bit of dust, gently acetic, but also lactic - nice acidic profile, woodsy, very light earthy notes. bright carbonation, light body - oily, lightly acidic and herbal-grassy finish. awesome.
4.1 Pours a clear golden (at first) with a low white head that leaves great lacing. Aroma is funky, woody, fresh. When I say fresh, I mean menthol fresh and maybe even a touch of balsam fir. Nice hoppy notes here and there. Taste is lightly tart, fruity with a nice and light barrel touch. Some lemony notes. Carbonation is bright and this beer goes down way too easy. Great!
3.9 My Bottom Line: Tart fruitiness tends to dominate this Barrel-Aged Saison, laying out zesty, citrusy notes over biting brettanomyces and blooming flowers. Further Personal Perceptions: -A sheet of foam settles atop the cloudy amber-hued blond. -The cuddly natural carbonation makes for smooth drinking. -The nose is rather wooden, with a few vanilla edges. -The rusticity is subtle compared to the important acidity. Bottle.
Carbonation moyenne-faible, corps moyen.
3.8 750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of tart and funkiness, some pale and caramel malts, a little fruit, and some very light spices. Flavor the same with a little more funk than crisp, tartness. Average texture. A good beer, but it could be more refined.
3.7 750mL bottle, shared with Lizardville Staff. really not keen on this one, maybe it needed more time to get funky in the bottle, but as of now its kind of a mildly tart beer, which I enjoyed its easy to drink mild hints of oak, no real saison charm.. solid beer though just because its easy to drink and enjoy.
3.8 750ml bottle, slight cloudy amber hue, with a bubbly white head, mild yeasty, fruity, light brett funky, woody, dusty sour nose, with a juicy lemon, musty white grape, rhubarb tartness accent, and a mild sour green apple, wheat, pale, pilsener sour mash note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice sour, yeasty, bretty, wet hay, dusty wheat, pale, toasted malt character, with some light vanilla, musty white grape, white wine tannin, lemon juice sourness flavours, with a faint yogurt lacticness, oak vanilla, flowery leafy hop undertone, leading towards a yeasty funkiness, lemon sourness, vanilla oakiness, white wine dryness finish.
3.8 Sampled during CBC 2013. Golden orange pour with a nice off-white head. Light aroma, a hint of oaky vanilla, tartness, doughy pale malts, some lemon and grapefruit. Good flavor - more tartness mixed with oak, brett, lemon and other citrus. Tasty!
3.8 Bottle, poured a clear hazy yellow color with aromas of light funk, some citrus, dough, and light wine. Flavors follow suit, not overly sour, tart citrus, and a dry finish.
