3.804.05.2013, tap @ CBC:
Frisk lett fruktig lukt med preg av lys malt, masse humle, sitrusskal, brett, appelsin, høy, gras. Frisk lett tørr smak med preg av lys malt, masse humle, sitrusskal, syregras, sitrus, høy,gras, litt brett. Middels bitterhet som set litt. God.
3.9Bottle from Proof. Light hazy gold pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma of yeast funkiness, sourdough, lemon rind, light white peppercorn spice and citrus. Flavor is similar with more zesty citrus, funk and yeast spice. Palate is nice bubbling as to it and hoppy citrus in the finish. Very solid.
3.4.750 ml. bottle. Batch #9/10, Apr 2013. Pours a medium, well retained white head, with some lacing, over a slightly hazy (bottle conditioned) orange gold (SRM 5) body....nose is light citrus with lemon, orange tones, cereal, earth, hints of barnyard funk, hints of hop spice.....taste is light citrus, with hints of sweetness initially, bits of funk, finishing dry with a moderate slightly harsh bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation low with a clean acid finish. This falls nicely into the Belgian Blond Ale style. It is nicely balanced, has good complexity in both aroma and flavor. The bitterness on the finish is ever so slightly harsh, but this beer is 9 months old and hops will evolve in that time. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

3.8Dry, fruity (mostly citrus) with a little spice. Nice tart and sour finish. A great example for this style of beer.
4.0Bottle @ a recent bottle share... Poured mildly cloudy yellowish with a medium forming head. This was great. Mouthfeel was just right. Hoppy and floral without being too bitter. Nice yeast and citrus notes going too. Tropical fruits, earthy and grassy.
3.5750 ml. bottle. Pour a somewhat cloudy golden orange with a nice white head. Aroma of citrus, floral, and spice. Taste is lemon, floral, yeast, malt, and spice. Interesting.
3.4Bottle. Pale yellow with fine white head. Lively mouthfeel, thin watery mouthfeel. Some tart and funky notes. Finish is tart and has saline like bitterness.
3.7Bottle (750 ml). From SlovakSniper, thanks! Hazy golden with a huge mostly lasting white head and some lacing. Aroma is of farmhouse yeast, light acidic presence/citus, noble hops, fruity notes and grassy. Taste is of citrus, farmhouse character, spices with a sharp bitter finish. Light/medium body, but there’s something lacking (Belgiumness? cereals?). Moderate/good carbonation. Dry finish. Good rustic Belgian Ale. With a couple refinements to the palate, this one could become really good! Drinkable.
4.1Nez: doux, fruit jaune, quelque esthers
bouche, un peu acide, funky, doux, poivré consistant, très complexe
Une bière vraiment haut de gamme qui ressemble à une Orval du futur!
3.0Bottled sample from specks in San Antonio. Very bubbly. Dry. A bit spicy. Decent Belgian ale
3.5750ml bottle. Hazy light orange with an off white head. Musty herbal hops, some hay, grass, yeast, dry lemon rind, dry; moderate carbonation, mild body, hidden and quiet bitterness on the finish with some booze and lemon grass.
3.6Bottle: thick, completely opaque golden orange with a super huge, chunky & foamy white head that leaves excellent lacing behind. Aroma is full of nice, dry farmhouse yeast, wood, grass, straw, white pepper, & a very mild lemon note. Taste is pretty smooth, with more peppery yeast, lighter on the farmhouse notes with some notable wood, orange, & hay. Just a hint of tartness with a finish of grass, oak, bready yeast, & faint pepper. Pretty quaffable stuff... nice farmhouse ale.
3.5Bomber. Pale, hazy, yellow with a clean white, foamy head that lasts on the sides and laces. Aromas of citrus, spice, light pine and an earthy must to it. Flavor is sweet citrus, spice, light pine, light yeast and some underlying earthy notes. Light bodied, dry finish.
3.7Not too shabby, dry fairly drinkable, a little astringent. Yeasty cheese character. Decent phenolics. Overall ok
3.8Pour is a hazy bright yellow with a large white head. Aroma is fresh pineapple juice with some green hops. Flavor is dry pils malt to start then comes some lemon, funk and bitterness. Finish has more of a citrus bitterness. Very drinkable and refreshing.
(Rating #5350)
3.6Keg@CBC2013
Murky yellow color, small white head, lace. Grassy, a funky bretta aroma. Medium-bodied. Citric, bretta, lingering grapefruity flavor. Nice sour ale.
3.6Bottle from Erzbierschof, Bern
Hazy blond color with medium sized head. Delicate aroma, there is some funkiness, light citrus fruits. Carbonated and smooth mouthfeel, very dry, with spicy character, also some light funky trait; reasonably bitter.
Nice.
3.6Large but short lasting white head on a solid cloudy straw body. Yeast on the nose not huge on the hops in the taste but very drinkable
3.3Attempts to gush, but waiting a bit solves that. Medium white
head. Yellow body made hazy by visible small particles. Earthy
oily fruity aroma with herbal notes. Dryish earthy oily resiny
taste with mealy herbal fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild,
slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Dryish resiny oily earthy aftertaste
with dusty minty herbal notes. Nice, drinkable, full of
character, and rather unusual. It’s realy the hoppy, minty aroma on
top of a mealy, earthy farmhouse base that defines the beer. (0.65l bottle, from Kihoskh,
Copenhagen.)
3.2A bit odd. Orange coloured and unclear. Has a white head, medium duration. Hoppy aroma with fruity notes too. FLavor starts medium sweet, acid too. Moderate bitter finish.
3.5My Bottom Line :
This very dry and effervescent Belgian-style Ale showcases doughy yeast and earthy hops with their herbal angles.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam covers the misty amber-hued golden.
-The earthy hop bitterness is prominent.
-There is lots of yeast in the bottle. Had to be careful upon pouring the second glass.
-Mild orange fruitiness appears midway.
-Although lots of fun, this is not a very memorable brew.
Bottle.
3.5750ml bottle, batch 9, slight cloudy honey gold hue, with a frothy white head, nice ripe apple, apple sauce yeast fruity esters in the nose, with some doughy, faint barnyard, funk, floral earthy leafy, grassy hop notes, with some citrus peel, spicy accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, spritzy fruity, doughy, bready, pale, pilsener malt, flowery citrus, tobacco, leafy, herbal earthy hop character, with a faint lemon pie crust, cracker undertone, leading towards a yeasty, doughy, earthy green pale, pilsener maltiness, dry hop bitterness finish.
3.7Clear golden color, and a nice head. Bottle fermented, so pour gently. Not a huge hop finish... earthy is a good description.
3.6Très belle robe, très belle mousse consistante et qui tient.
La bière en elle même n’a pas une longueur en bouche hallucinante malgré les quelques pointes houblonnées qui restent en fin de bouche.
3.5Bottle from trade but I forget who. Thanks! Labeled Batch #9/10, APR 2014. Pours a hazy orange gold with a nice creamy white head. Aroma if orange rinds, funky yeast, lemon peel, apples, and some spice. Flavor is citrus up front with and interesting hop bite and lingering spicy funky yeast to finish. Light bodied and lots of carbonation. Funk is very much on the front end and all the way through. Not bad.
3.5Bottle@home. 75cl. Huge two and a half finger foam. Yeasty fresh apple pear clover aromas. Spicy dry light bitter mouthfell. Gentle delicious.
2.8Clear golden coloured body with a large, four centimetre tall soapy head that leaves an ugly lace. Aroma of dank hops, a good yeast strain, some pepper, coriander seed, a touch of honey and sweetness and a bit of curacao. Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast up front with a grassy and herbal character combined with a very mellow maltiness with not much body and a dry finish and no sweetness at all, and hardly any hops. Aftertaste shows the slightest bit of hops, but mostly a grassy and herbal character with some very light malt and most of the flavours between dry hay and the spicey yeast complexities. Overall, a decent beer - but that’s it. This shouldn’t be in this category - perhaps a saison, but after spending more than a week in Belgium drinking the fine beer there, this simply isn’t a belgian ale at all nor can it compare with them. I tried this fresh and it simply isn’t even close to the hype that it shows online. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Central Market in Houston, Texas on 10-August-2013 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 23-August-2013.
