3.3Hopfig-malziger Antrunk, herb, etwas scharf.

3.812 oz bottle shared by drewbeerme. Thanks! Pours a nice mellow orange amber hue, a good murky haze, orange deep glow with a small lacing whitish head that rings. Small lacing, touches of soap. Aromas are sour fruits, bananas and pears pair with crab apple, lemons. Touches of dry brett, lactic acid on a mellow pace. Wet oak, vanilla, typical JP wild yeast blend. Initial is a decent dose of sour fruits up front, lemons and grapefruit pulp pair with tangelo, and some sweet fruits. Touches of dust, hay, and horseblanket. Into the finish it loses a little luster with trailing dry dusty funky brett, touches of citrus fruit acidity, wet oak, and bready malts. Gives some apple cidery tart and sweet play, with decent sourness. Nice, but more mellow. Perhaps a bit past it’s prime but still tasty, lingering brett, typical sour fruits and sweeter touches. Nice.
3.8Consumed in 2008 with no tasting notes, and I think I may have been a bit wasted when this was actually drank, therefore, I barely remember it! That said, I do remember the tartness was enough to make me think twice about it, earning it a decent score!
3.9Thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle. Batch 130/131.
The beer pours a golden orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the brett with some bready malt, grass and cherry notes. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of brett, along with some oranges. grass and bread notes. There is a light amount of tartness, but nothing overpowering. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.9bottle, thanks to exiled, orange colored pour with a funky pepper and lemon aroma, flavors of horseblankets, sour, marmalade jam, nice bitter
3.9Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with off-white head. Aroma has a nice acidic and tart profile with some notes of nail polish. Flavor is the same with notes of cherry and is a bit funky and musty. Mouth feel is medium body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, Nice!!!!!!!!!!!
2.5Thanks Kevin for sharing this one!
A- Body is a murky, dynamic, slightly translucent golden yellow. Pour is flat with no head at all whatsoever.
S- Nose is strong and brutal. Nail polish-or nail polish remover is dominant and overshadows anything else beneath it. A hint of apple lies beneath.
T- Slightly sweet tart apple upfront. A big lemon juice tartness behind it. Dry oak flavors. Then the flavor is all over the place-ethanol, yeast, you name it it could be there.
M- Flat and feel is thina nd astrigent.
D- The flavor is pretty good-but the nose and the overall mouthfeel of this make it a slight turn off. I’ll take the regular firefly over this.

3.7Pours amber with a beige head. Aroma is caramel and brett. Flavour is caramel, acidic, brett and barnyard.
3.9Cloudy amber with a small off white head. Aroma had loads of lacto, acetone and paint thinner. Flavor was seriously sour with lacto, sour red berries and toasted malt. Finished very sour.
1.6Bottle thanks to masterhomebrewer (BA)!
Batch 130/131, 21months drank next to the regular Luciernaga (of some age). Murky tan pour, lifeless, headless. Overpowering acetone in the nose, stinging, backed by light bourbon and very light yeasty lemon. Bourbon and lemon flavors, light biscuit, and a harsh citric finish with heavy grapefruit horridly out of place against the acetone and bourbon. Thin, light carbonation. An absolute mess. This was a HUGE disappointment following the light, effervescent, hoppy, and well-peppered and balanced monster than is Firefly. Easily the worst I’ve had from JP.
2.0Big thanks to Kevin for sharing this one!
A-pours no head with a very dark almost red amber color and notes of haze.
S-the nose is quite offensive, huge acetone, I feel like I’m in a chineese nail salon and someone knocked down all the shelfs and every nail polish and nail polish remover fell to the ground. there is some oak in there with notes of citrus but hard to find.
T-the acetone is huge, the oak is present, very dry oak, notes of tartness with a light fruity almost cherry flavor behind with a pretty strong acidity in it. not as bad as the nose but not good by any means.
M-rough to drink, sour/tart/burning, the acetone makes it hard to even feel this beer. all i get is burn.
D-ouch, warm and not good. done!
3.6Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity woody vanilla aroma with hints of caramel. Sweetish fruity malty woody vanilla flavor. Has a sweetish malty woody finish with some weak hints of vanilla in the aftertaste.
4.2Several years aged. Huge thanks to Nanoslug for bringing this awesomeness to a tasting. Pours a very slightly hazy but bright copper color with a small off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is amazing. Sweet and tart caramel malt, green apple, bourbon, spices, and funk. Flavor is also really awesome. Underripe fruits are big, especially green apple, along with a little vinegar, slightly sweet caramel malt, and tart funk. Very, very subtle on the bourbon and -bal aging. Tingly on the palate with medium body and fairly prickly carbonation. Really impressive stuff overall. I’m starting to like Jolly Blump- I mean Pumpkin more and more.
3.3Bottle thanks to Sean. Poured a clear gold with an amber hue and an off-white head that dissipated to a film around the edges. Aroma had tart apples and cherry and a bit of funk. Flavor was much more acetone then tart with a bit of underlying funk.
3.8Bottle. Pours a clear golden beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is tart, sourness, brett, malt and fruit. The flavor is tart, sourness, malt and fruit. The palate is a good mix between sourness and a fresh beer. Overall a special, but not bad, beer with complex notes.
4.0Murky Orange pour,
Aroma is strong bourbon and some funky lemon, teaming with funk.
Flavor is straw and lemon with a loads of bourbon and some oak tannins.
Really well barreled, only complaint would be a little to much bourbon, but funky and fruity with nice tannic addition from the barrels
4.3I have to say, I was a bit worried about this beer being overpowered by the bourbon barrel when I first read the description, but it was a revelation. Light tartness layered over the vanilla notes from the oak - just amazing!
3.9Unlabeled Bottle - Thanks BBB63! - Pours cloudy tannish orange with a small white head that lingers...aroma is very interesting, lactic, bourbon oak, vanilla, honey...flavour is similar, tannic and woody, very light fruit, lemon, pepper and bourbon...a very different and tasty experience...
3.9SLightly murky dark orange-brown color with a thin film of white head. Heavy brett aroma, spicy phenolics and an acetic sharpness. Oaky tannic flavors with plasticy and spicy phenol components. Some appley malt, with dusty and leathery aspects. Woody finish, with lingering soft acidity. Mouthfeel is a light medium, rather dry.
3.7Poured a deep brown amber color with just a hint of a fizzy head.
Nose was heavy on balsamic vineger, lemon, and burnt sugar.
Taste was hard to take, very vinegary, hot with vinegar. Thin mouthfeel, nice hints of pepper, lemon, cherry, vanilla, but mostly just vinegar. Interesting, but nothing that i’d want more than 4oz of.
4.0Flaske: Kobberfarvet øl med et lille skumhoved. Kraftig duft af stald og hestedækken. Tydelig brett.
3.7Burning copper colour with a small but longlasting white head. Aroma is invitingly refreshing and acidic with notes of wood and fruit, fairly concentrated and a bit one-sided. Flavour is "wooden tun" sour aswell as fruity sour and lightly spicy. Vinous and refreshing at the same time which is a bit odd. Very peculier brew.
3.7courtesy of Frampin.
Batch 130/131.
Pours amber/orange cloudy, thin off-white head.
Aroma of wood, sour, some spices, light yeasty nose.
Flavor, lots of good barrel, wood/ oak and sourness. Hints of hops and spices, some wine like/cherry vinegar.
Overall palate has a strong sour finish, still easy to drink and very enjoyable. Definitely the JP signature.
4.012oz. bottle, labeled oak aged 21 months, batch 130/131, with a huge thanks to StFun! Pours a hazy amber with a moderate off-white head that hangs around for a bit. Aroma is oak, sour grape skins, tart cherries, some light dust and must. Flavor is fairly light and gentle, with more sour grape skins, oak, tart cherry, and a little dried dark fruits and mustiness. A lighter mouthfeel with a dry finish; nicely nuanced. Good stuff, thanks again Josh!
3.3(Bottle, batch 130/131) Pours amber. Pale, sand coloured head. The aroma is oaky up front with buttery vanilla, fudge, dill, sawdust and coconut milk. There are also clear tones of tannins, orangey citrus, coriander, barnyard/horse blanket/basement, medicine/penicillin, menthol, leather and earthy tobacco. Undertones of raisins, cheese, overripe apples/cherries, phenols, old flowers, woody apricot and pineapple. The nose is a bit too sweaty, medical, and mouldy for my liking. The flavour is light sweet, light bitter and light to medium acidic. Tones of woody oak, horse blanket/barnyard, medicine, blood oranges, raspberries, light peppery spices, some esters and earthy tobacco. Some hints of phenols and tannins in the finish. The mouthfeel is musty and tart with a light carbonation. Medium bodied. I love JP but this was not one of my favourites.
3.312 oz. bottle - thanks after4ever; batch 130-131; pours cloudy amber with faint white head; musky notes with sour apples and oak; pretty stale and flat; mild tartness, but also some vinegar and lemons; eh
4.2Dry and oaky aroma, pours a beautiful effervescent gold with orange hue and superb head. Grapefruity flavor but neither aggressively tart or bitter; dry hop finish. Very white wine-esque.
4.0Bottle. Rating #500. Pours cloudy amber coloured with a big foamy off white head. Aromas of pepper, oak, balsamic vinegar, vanilla, lemon peel and caramel. Flavours of yeast, wood, spice, semi tart, caramel and balsamic vinegar. Delicious brew.
2.4Pours amber and cloudy with no lasting head. Smell is tart, sour and vinegary. Taste is slightly bourbony, slightly tart and sour. Vinegary but watery. Interesting beer, but not something I’d go for again.
4.2(Bottle, batch 130/131, oak aged for 21 months, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen) Hazy amber colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Acidic, sour and tart nose with notes of oak wood, vinegar, dried peaches and hints of citrussy hops coming through after a while. Sour, fruity, acidic taste with citrus (grapefruit, lemon), orange peel, balsamic vinegar, oak wood, spicy coriander hints and citrussy hops coming through in the finish. Dominated by oak wood and acidity leading into Rodenbach territory, but with citrus and hops balancing it quite nicely. Rather extreme and complex beer with surprisingly good balance. Lovely stuff!
