Pours pitch black with beige head. Coffee and roasted malts on the nose. Coffee and toasted malt bitterness, very little sweetness, if any, noticeable. Pretty straight forward stuff…
Pours a very dark brown small slightly tan head. Aroma is dark malt, cacao, chocolate malt. Light to medium body. Flavour is malty, slightly sweet, chocolate malt, cacao, hint of lactose? Finish is medium dry, sweet, slightly bitter. Nice, easy dry stout
Botella de 33 cl @ Cata cervezas Jopen en Casa Lambrote (09/2014), Zaragoza. Color negro, espuma beige, retención decente. En nariz maltas tostadas, pan, chocolate negro. En boca ligeramente dulzona, torrefactos, chocolate negro. Final seco.
330ml bottle brought back from Amsterdam and drunk on 20/01/2011. Very nice stout. Coffee, treacle and mild smokey aroma. Dark chocolate and bitter burnt flavours. Good body.
Liquide marron léger avec mousse abondante. Nez terreux et cendres. En bouche, c'est un début légèrement chocolat puis rien hormis de l'eau ! Il vaut mieux passer sa route !!!
Bottle, backlog from 2018. Chocolate, earth, subtle ashy roast, light acetaldehyde, moderate body. Decent.
Poured dark body foamy tan top. Aroma of roasted malt coffee and cereal notes. Taste is medium sweet to bitter. Palate is medium bodied oily texture average carbonation and a bitter finish. Given the list of awards on the bottle a disappointment.
A fruity hoppy smell. Dark with a frothy head. Malty taste and silky to the throat.
Late night beer - creamy and flsvourful unlike guiness
God cremet, en kaffe eftersmag, ikke egnet til sart mad.
Licht. Beetje waterig. Te mouterig. Geen volle smaak.
Plutôt décevante, les notes grillées et torréfiées sont timides, peu de corps, finale courte.
Tuesday, June 18, 2019. On tap. 5.5%. @bar "Proeflokaal Arendsnest", Amsterdam, NL. A sparkling very dark brown beer (nearly black) with a big beige foamy head ; good retention and lacing ! Roast, chocolate, light rustic cereal, nutty notes. Light to medium bitter, medium dry refreshing, sweet spicy note. Medium body, light to medium oily texture, average to soft gaseous, roasted dry lasting finish. Overall, good !
Bottle pour at importers tasting. Pours black with beige head. Roasted malts, some coffee, malty, somewhat watery, moderate sweetness, thin. Medium bodied.

Appearance: pours clear black with good beige soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, liquorice, coffee and chocolate palette: strong roasted malty aroma, average carbonation, medium body, average sweetness, balanced by a medium bitterness, medium duration and a watery texture. Overall: nice, light and dry stout

Good head, sweet and malty smell - with a little coffee, some peatiness, traces of whiskey and caramel (but alas, there is also a faint cardboard note that marrs things a little). On the tongue, you get good bitterness and dryness and no sweetness to speak of... which can be good. Unfortunately however, the finish is more than a tad too thin and watery.

Mooi erg donker bier met licht koolzuur. Geur weinig, gebrande mout. Smaak, gebrande mout, water. Dun mondgevoel. Nasmaak, gebrande mout, blijft lang hangen.
Very dark brown pour, small light brown head. Aroma of light chocolate and coffee. Very light roasty flavor. Thin.
God og velsmagende dry stout. Masser af fylde. Tilpas bitterhed og god aroma.
Heerlijke extra stout, gitzwart en met een opvallend droge afdronk. Jopen is een top brouwerij en dat blijkt hier ook maar weer. Ze noemen het zelf de espresso onder de bieren en dat is leuk bedacht.
Qua smaak chocolade, koffie en lichte smaak van zoethout . Qua geur vooral herkenbaar licht metaalachtig. Zwart van kleur met beige schuimkraag.
Uiterlijk: zwart met een beige schuimkraag die ook snel weer weg is.
Geur: mout, rogge, iets zurig en een beetje pure chocolade.
Smaak: gebrande mout, cacao en koffie.
Mond: Geroosterd bruin brood, dun en een beetje koffie.
Brouwerij Jopen doet het helemaal niet slecht, maar dit is dan weer zo'n bier waarbij ik denk: Jammer Joh... Er had veel meer in kunnen zitten. Evengoed niet slecht, maar voor mij geen middenmoter.
Fles 33cl thuis. Volle smaak. Bitter, Chocolade. Sterk. (1-2-2011). (200ste).

Draft at the kerk. Dark maroon brown color beige head with good retention and spoider web lacing. Earthy cocoa powder aroma. Taste is earthy coffee grounds dry finish. Tasty

330ml Flasche. Dunkelbraun mit Rotstich. Cremiger beiger Stout. Kräftiger Duft. Röstmalz Antrunk. Leicht rauchig. Tief und gut.
A bit disappointing. Nice roasty malts and coffee tones, but they fade away to quickly.
