Jopen Trinitas Tripel

Jopen Trinitas Tripel

November 11th 2009 is our 15th anniversary. To celebrate this we brewed Jubeljoop III. We let our consumers decide what kind of beer it should be. Triple has won with 36% of the votes, second was IPA with 24%. Of course we gave this triple our own touch. This 9% triple was based on the recipe for our historic Hoppenbier (recipe dated 1501). Jubeljoop III will be availabe from November 11th 2009 til November 11th 2010. Brewed with barley and rye.

3.4 Lekkere biersmaak, weinig schuim
3.9 Weird I didn't rate this earlier. Near-clear golden pour with white head; retaining rather poorly. Aroma is sweet-malty, bit fruity, spicy, bit yeasty. Taste medium sweet, honey, still yeasty and spicy, with a mild bitterness. OK carbo, firm body but not alcoholic. Attractive tripel, with these spicy yeast; like it, although first time better than second time. (Rates 17/10/20 and 19/12/20)
Zoetig in aanzet. Licht kruidig: kruidnagel, koriander en zoethout. Licht fruitige toets van iets van abrikoos. Prettig zacht qua mondgevoel en redelijk sterk in alcohol.
3.3 Fruity
3.1 Wel lekker, maar geen echte trippel.
3.5 Pale yellow hazy beer with a firm head. Malty sweet like a weizenbock mixed with a triple.
3.0 Bottle, backlog from 2018. Apricot, orange, light pepper, quite malty and sweet. Decent.
3.4 Rocky white head stayed on an unclear amber body. Herbal & spice aroma. Medium bodied, tingly over the tongue with fuller smooth back. Bitter orange, herbaceous, spices, yeast & chalk tastes. Decent enough.
3.2 Bottle. Muddy dark yellow with a decent white head. Aroma of yeast, bananas, vanilla, apricot, grains, clove and just a little bit of spices. Taste follows aroma. Pretty fruity and surprisingly heavy on bananas. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. It's alright I suppose but not what I look for in a Tripel.
3.5 Orange hazy with a thin head. Fruity, citric smell. Smooth, candylike taste with a sharper, alcoholic edge. Low carbonation. Not a bad beer, but nothing like a traditional tripel.
3.5 Keg at jopenkerk. Pours golden, nose is toffee, caramel, banana, taste is similar, juicy. 3.5
3.6 33cl bottle at home. Appearance: slightly hazy golden with medium sized white head. Aroma: spicy, nutmeg, some clove, grain dust, some apricot. Taste: above medium sweetness and fairly high bitterness. Notes of clove, nutmeg, malty, some candied sugar, touch of apricot. Palate: medium bodied, oily texture and lively carbonation. Overall: this is a fine tripel. Not too far off from a traditional belgian one.
4.0 Sample at the jopenkerk. Clear deep golden color, fluffy white head. Aroma is malty, plenty of grains, wheat, juice. Fruity notes of banana, orange, plum, berries. Crisp clean taste, flavored, juicy, yet slightly tart which makes it intriguing enjoyable. Finish is semi dry and smooth with distinct balsamic herbs and citrus. Quite classy, refined, strong, drinks well despite abv.
3.4 Goudblond bier met voldoende koolzuur. Geur, granen, hooi, fruitig. Smaak, mout, citrus, water, hop. Medium, fris mondgevoel. Nasmaak, brood, citrus, water, hop bitter. Anders.
3.9 Thuis uit een flesje. Licht troebel, gouden kleur, weinig wit schuim. Lekker.
3.6 Bottle from Wines and More. Yellow gold, clear with decent offwhite head. Mild aroma. A very drinkable tripel, with cherry and orange fruit, a hint of bitterness at finish. Nice
3.5 On tap. Pours a hazy orange/amber with moderate head. Aromas of earthy yeast and fruity eaters. Flavors follow same with additional dried apricot and creamy banana. Quiet sweet and creamy.
4.1 .3l bottle at Palacio Oirschot. Pour is clear and golden, head is thick and creamy with nice persistence and moderate lacing to the glass. Nose is fruity, citruslike. Hints of orange and grapefruit. Taste is full, really thick bodied. Hints of fruits, grass/coriander/herbs, candy sugar and a decent hoppy finish. One of the better Tripels i had.
3.3 Tap @ Jopenkerk, Haarlem. Tja tegenvallende trippel licht bloemig licht honing redelijk zoete zachte bitter. Proefglas/Orgineel glas (First rating in Jopenkerk/2018 was 5-3-5-2-13)
4.5 Fles 33cl thuis. Haver, gerst, tarwe. Vanille, laurier, drogige bittere smaak. (4-2011).
2.7 Appearance is clear, straw yellow. Aroma is malt, spice, grain and apricot. Palate is high and fine carbonation. Taste is apricot, orange, spice and metallic with a dry aftertaste.
3.2 Three-grains tripel (where have I heard that before) by Jopen, basically an offspring of their classic Hoppenbier which has been in existence for over twenty years, though this one does not come far behind apparently so it's a bit strange I only stumbled upon it now... Bottle from a Mitra in Flevoland. Bit thinnish, egg-white, regular head, quickly dissipating in the middle to an array of speckles inside a steady, well-retaining moussy ring, over an initially near-clear, warm 'old gold' coloured beer with sunset orange-yellow glow. Aroma of fresh oven-baked cookies, 'appeljenever', candied apricot, chewing gum, honey, straw, pineapple, dried apple peel, sugared camomile tea, hints of old paper (onsetting oxidation - this bottle is a bit past its prime), moist white pepper, soap, melon, touch of old dried orange peel, vague dry earth which gets a bit more pronounced with sediment. Cleanish fruity onset, sweet with a very thin sourish edge, hinting at pear, dried peach, pineapple and light banana, rather softly carbonated for the style, slick and supple, very subtly soapy mouthfeel, feeling a bit light for a 9% ABV beer. Cereally, bit cookie-like and caramelly, bit honeyish middle, pretty straightforward but with a subtle wheat soapiness, yet falling short in oat 'velvetiness'; ends in a drier, softly but confidently bittering finish in which floral, somewhat rooty hop bitterness is reinforced by a certain 'jenever'-like alcohol wryness, which astringently lingers on the root of the tongue - underneath persisting dried peach- and banana-tinged fruitiness and lightly caramelly malt sweetness. Your classic sweet Belgian style tripel, obviously inspired by Tripel Karmeliet; lacking a bit in body, yeasty-malty breadiness and complexity, but the cookie-ish aspect of it does have a certain appeal. The bubblegum ester, though present, remains at bay in comparison with many 'common' Belgian examples of the style - and there are, I said it before, way too many of them in Belgium - but the alcohol does become a bit wry and fatiguing in the end and should have been better hidden even in this style. Other than that, a perfectly enjoyable tripel, but the style's home country (ironically the country where Jopen's beers were brewed in the company's early days) still has better examples, I'm afraid - and I'm absolutely not being chauvinistic here, as the Netherlands including Jopen have produced a remarkable array of great craft beers in the past fifteen-odd years. This one to me is not one of them, though admittedly the bottle is probably a little bit over the top and I should (and will) revisit this when I encounter it again in better / younger shape.
3.4 Very refreshing beer, nice citrus tones. But i really miss the intens yeasty flavours of a triple to call this beer a real triple.
3.8 Bottle at home (can't believe I didn't rate this before). Beautiful hazy golden honey hope, firm and creamy offwhite head. Sweet, grainy and creamy malty, banana wheat, light acidity from the oat, light peppery hit from the yeasts. Firm body, medium carbonation.
