3.8From old tasting notes. Cloudy deep gold color with a fruity, bubbly white head and lots of effervescent bubbles. Strong yeasty wheat malt aroma has a huge citrus character. Flavor is initially sweet malt flavor, becoming tart and then mildly bitter, while having that wheats, tangy quality throughout. Sweet brief aftertaste. Good balance and flavor.
4.20.5l bottle. Hazy orange body, white head. Aroma of banana, cloves, lemon zest and peach. Taste of banana, peach, cloves and spicy hops. Balanced between the fruity sweetness and the hops. Great hefeweizen.
3.4500ml bottle. Hazy golden, large creamy wheat head. Aroma of bananas, wheat and yeast. Taste is banana, wheat, clove, spice, yeast, spice. Heavy carbonation. Decent.
3.9Ar: Tart peach and medium-ripe banana; a little soapy; touch of wet clove; some fresh, pale, bready malt. Ap: Very lightly hazy gold; massive white head with great retention, leaves a semi-dense cap of foam, airy chunks of lacing on the glass sides, and multi-sized bubbles speckled throughout. T: Tart peach skin; moderate banana; doughy malt; very low bitterness, no hop flavor; light sweetness mid-palate, mingles with the banana to give a faint banana bread impression; hints of cloves on the finish. P: Medium-light body, with a creamy qualify from the high carbonation coupled with the wheat; finish is crisp and medium-dry. O: Top-notch German hefeweizen; all the hallmark flavors are present, and the beer has great mouthfeel and a nice aroma; easy-drinking, flavorful, and delicious!
3.6Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy golden color with an enormous creamy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet, tart, citric and yeasty. The flavor was tart and slightly bitter with sourdough bread, lemon, orange and phenol. Long finish. Medium body. Quite nice.
4.0Large bottle half of it poured into a nonic. Cloudy pale yellow, little foaming but persistent, nose of bread, faint spice, lemon. Flavor of sweet, light malt, lemon and mild spices. Rather heavy body for the style and with a unobtrusive carbonation. Very well balanced and pleasant wheat beer, free of that offensive banana taste of the cheezy, mass produced clones. A keeper.
3.8One of my favorites from my military days drank this too many times to count in giblestadt germany.
3.8Some beers, like this, I’m amazed I’ve never rated. On tap at Tap and Mallet. It was fresh and delicious and served in proper glassware, 4.9 ABV. Nose of ripe bananas, Taste was similar, with a touch of cloves. A dry finish indicating some hop presence. Cloudy and bright yellow with fluffy head. True to style and a bit above average, not the best, but very good.
3.0Bottle. Not a bad German Hefeweizen but there are better ones out there. Cloudy gold in color with a two finger head. Taste and aroma were the usual banks and spice.
3.7Picked up a single 500 ml bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a semi-clear golden pale colored brew with a thick off-white head that has some good retention. Aroma of banana esters, golden grain malt, a hint of honey and a touch of clove. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of both banana, clove esters, a hint of honey, a touch of bubblegum and sour dough bread. Finish is semi-sweet with a banana ester and floral hop aftertaste. A solid German hefeweizen throughout.
3.0Hazy yellowish, thick white head. Yeasty banana aroma. Sweet banana candy flavour. Ok but a tad watery.
3.3Bottle. Pours hazy straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of malt and banana, with notes of grain and yeast and touches of hops. Sweetish flavour of malt and banana, with notes of hops and grain. Sourish, grainy afteraste with malty hints. Not bad.
3.3Light orange colour, hazy, medium head (surprisingly low for a hefe) is quite dense, shows good retention and some lacing. Aroma of strong banana with a slight fresh herbal feel and some lemon in the background. Taste has soft wheat malts foundation (white bread), strong banana, a hint of lemon and underlying spiciness (clove). Dominantly sweet as obvious but not too much (average sweetness as per style i would say). Light to medium body, medium to high carbonation, easy and decently lively. Averagely good
3.4Ein Weißbier, was zu überzeugen weiß. Gute Sache.
3.8Hazy wheaty gold with a thin foamy cap. Lovely bready and sunshiney nose that’s pleasantly wheaty and golden, not too yeasty or fluffy, with a nice little touch of clove and very light near-green banana. Clean and surprisingly crisp flavor that’s wheaty, a touch German blonde, light clove, light bready banana, and pleasantly bright.
3.8Bottle. Pours hazy golden big white head. Aroma of dough, earthy notes, clove, and fruit. Medium sweet taste. Medium body, a bit sticky texture, sweet smooth finish. Solid German Hefe.
3.8Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head has a great level of retention, holding on for quite a long time before fading to leave a good showing of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a coriander and yeast with a strong showing of bready aroma. Along with these smells comes a rather potent clove smell along with some hints of a candied sugar and a bit of orange.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice clean bready taste mixed with a very yeasty and coriander flavor. The yeast and coriander grow even stronger as the taste advances and are joined by some other spice flavors of clove and some nutmeg. All the while, a light orange sweetness that is present upfront fades a bit, all while a light flavors of a candied sugar taste takes its place. In the end, with all the flavor transitions that occur and with a little bit of a doughiness and grassiness that develops on the tongue, one is left with a yeasty, and spiced bready taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is rather chewy for an only 5.3 % brew with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The thick body is rather nice for the bready and yeasty tastes and really accentuates them. A slightly higher carbonation may have made it slightly more refreshing, but even so, overall the feel was pretty well done.
Overall – A not too sweet, but bready and heavily spiced (especially coriander) hefe. I actually rather enjoyed this one.
2.6Originally rated on 9/3/08. Looked like a hefe, nice cloudy mid yellow body, not much carbonation but it left a little lace on my glass. The rest was un hefe like, hardly any regular aromas or flavorings, only a strange aftertaste. I think I got a bad one, so I might re-try this one day, but not soon
3.0Watery weissbier. Some banana bread and sweetness from the yeast and wheat, but overall quite light on flavor. Silky with little to no citrus which I prefer but simple. 3 months past the best before date which might explain the loss of character.
3.5Bottle from Bin 201. Solid hefe, pours out a slightly hazy golden with nice fluffy head, which fades quickly. Normal aroma and flavors of bananas, bubblegum and clove. With a bit of a rockier head, and more sediment, this might have been better.
2.5Pours a hazy, sort of muddy brown/amber. a little lacing. Aroma of clove, flavor adds a little classic banana and wheatiness, very faint touch of metal, but I am drinking a rather old bottle. Finishes slightly on the bitter side. Meh.
3.7Bottle. Nice wheat flavors with a little bit of a spicey taste. Pretty good overall.
2.8Bottle. Cloudy gold with white head. Banana, clove, spice, wheat. Light body. Nothing special.
4.2Best by September 2015 enjoyed September 30, 2015 in a pilsner glass.
Look - Kept head contained with careful pour. Big bubbled white head. Clear golden body with a lot of carbonation flowing up. Good lacing.
Smell - Grass. Wheat. Lemon. Spice. Banana.
Taste - Crisp wheat. Spice. Malt.
Feel - Carbonation is not too overpowering. Sits well. No tongue damage whatsoever. Lighter beer so lighter feel.
Overall - These beers got me to try non macro light beers. Not my cup of beer now but have to reminisce sometimes.Style points.
4.6Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell has an extremely thick, creamy bone-white head, an initially clear, bubbly golden appearance, which becomes milky opaque, once the bottom, caked, tan gunk is shaken and poured in. Lacing is splotchy. Aroma is of spiced bread, faint banana, faint coriander, and a whiff of smoke. Taste is the same, with bubble gum and a touch of lemon. Bitterness is not in play, here. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell finishes mostly dry and drinkable to the hilt. RJT
3.8Yellowed-amber stone body with crisp foam covering. Enticing gusts of caramel grains and baked bread titillate the nose. Riffs of lemon kisses, banana spritz, and sourdough appear as well. Medium bodied with a nice bready character, and subtle notes of sourdough, banana, and perhaps an inference of clove. A bit light on the finish, but that just reinforces how quaffable this one is. Outstanding balance and endlessly drinkable.
3.5Rated based on notes taken 18 May 2013 -- Yet again another greatly crafted Hef that I thoroughly enjoy.
3.4On draft. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with a thick white head. Much thinner mouthfeel than most hefeweizen. Very fruity and spice. A nice change of pace for wheats.
2.7500 ml. bottle. I should’ve known to check the best by date on this before purchasing. Best by 2013. Ouch. I probably normally wouldn’t rate a bottle this old, but since it just showed up at a local liquor store recently, I’m going to. It pours a nice semi clear light golden color with a white head. The aroma is pretty lame. Doughy with some wheat and a strong cider quality. No esters. The flavor is a little better with some mild clove and bubblegum underneath some cidery and wheaty malts. Still very lackluster. Tastes old and stale, which of course it is. Too bad they let this stuff rot out in the marketplace.
4.8Poured from a 500 ML bottle into a pint glass.

Taste- Very nice, great wheat and malt flavor that has a great finish
Palate- A medium bodied beer with mild carbonation.
Overall- An outstanding Hefeweizen.
