3.6A nice evening beer after a couple of beerless weeks, Nose is chocolate, oats, some oxidation, toast. Palate is chocolate, rye bread, coffee, oily mouthfeel. Quite good!
4.0Bowmore barrel aged oatmeal stout. 9.8% Smokey nose. Alcohol warming on the swallow. This was a full bodied beer with coffee flavour to the fore. Port like notes and fruit on the tongue. Thick black to look at. Vinious flavours lingered long on the palate saliva.

4.3On tap at Brewberry Bar Paris. Black beer lasting tan head. Tarry full tasting chocolate and nutty praline stout. Just delicious. My god the praline. It's outrageously good. Woke my already awake taste buds into launch mode. Belgian praline chocolate character High score. Top drawer. Even some bitterness on the finish like a wafer biscuit. Loved it. But never too sweet. Hilariously good.
4.0Bottle from Damian. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit, chocolate, raisins. Dark black colour with small creamy head. Taste of roasted malt, chocolate, raisins, plums, dark fruits, caramel, high on bitterness, bit sweet, long dry fruity finish.
On apprécie.
4.0Bottle. Very dark brown with an average light brown head. Super rich fudge and soy with figs and light smoke and a hint of licorice, velvety rounded mouthfeel. Delicious.
3.833 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Nieuwegein.
Black with a beige head. Sweet malts, coffee, some chocolate. Sweet taste wich reminds me a bit of "Haagse Hopjes' or sweetened coffee. Smooth easy-going imperial stout.
3.3Bottle. Bought Dec 2016; BB Feb 2024; Drank Dec 2017 - Opaque very dark brown in colour. Small tan head. Very malty; roasty malts, oaty, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, caramel. Fruity; dried fruits, raisins. Bit spicy. Bittersweet roast coffee and chocolate malty fruity throughout. Drinkable until the end when it poured a lot of lumpy glutinous floaters. Disappointing finish. (2017-12)
3.9This earthy, mouty taste of this dark pour is so tasteful. A really nice beer to end a cold evening with.
3.8Bottle, black beer, medum head. Aroma is malt, oats. Taste is the same, quite sweet, bitter, nice one.
3.7Bottle. Clear black-red body with a tiny tan head. Oily malty, dry aroma, caramel, alcohol, meh, generic strong stout aroma. Caramelly dark malt taste, mixing with a lovely chocolate note and some bitterness. Bit creamy. Tastes better then it smells. Very much a good beer.
3.5Surprisingly easy going at 9.8% indeed almost sessionable (!) albeit served quite cold. Dark blackberry fruits offer a point of difference (um...hope the purple label didn't influence!). Some sugary sweetness to finish but not out of step with the strength/style of beer. (6 euro 330ml bottle Akerbeltz San Sebastian).
3.4Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks Max. Very dark brown to black. Licorice, roast, caramel, hops, coffee, sweet, alcohol, bitter finish.
3.4At Tom's Place, pours brown with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, caramel, toffee, fruits, flavor of chocolate, caramel, toffee, fruits, medium bodied
3.3330 ml bottle. BB 30/01/25. (Kaapse Brouwers) Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Dark brown color with a small tan head.
Chocolate, cacao, roasted malt and tobacco in the aroma.
The flavor is roasted malt, tobacco, glue and chocolate. I’m disappointed.
3.7Bottle at home. Three year old. Has a dark brown to black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa, soy sauce, coffee, burned wood and rubber. Very roasted flavour with lots of ash and roasted coffee beans along with dark chocolate and soy sauce. Has a silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a medium bitterness. Very nice chocolate touch in the aroma, and pretty roasted all over.
3.5330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9.8%, 46 IBU. Black colour, small beige head. Roasty aroma, notes of roast malts, coffee, oatmeal and chocolate. Very moderate carbonation. Moderately sweet flavour, notes of roast malts, chocolate, liquorice and coffee, hints of caramel and oatmeal. Moderate hop bitterness in the finish.
3.8Yep, this is a straight stout and a "gozer" like they say in Rotterdam. But it is not the revelation among stouts, but merely one of the very many. It drinks nicely and fluently, but it hasn’t got the characteristics of an imperial stout at all. But a good stout is still more tha n nothing at all.
3.7330 mml bottle tasted on the 09/05/2017. Intense black colour with a thin white head. Aroma of roasted malts, alcohol, herbs and coffee. Taste is almost the same with a full roasted malts finish. Next one please!
3.9Pours opaque black with dissipate light brown tan head. Aroma: roasted grain, malts. Flavour: roasted grain, intense malt charackter with notes of toasted toffee, caramel, burnt sugar, dark & milk chocolate, coffee, cocoa, slightly sipy, grassy hop profile, dry finish. Body is full, texture syrupy smooth, carbonation is low.
3.92017 - 04 - 27 330ml bottle. black color with hint of red. small off-white head. roasted aroma with chocolate and fruit. bittersweet taste.
