Kaapse Jaapie

Kaapse Jaapie

Kaapse Jaapie

3.5 330 ml bottle from Stoneworks,Peterborough. BB 22/12/2017;9.4%. Light red/copper,slightly hazy. Nose - toasted malts,bread,resin. Taste - malts,caramel,walnut skin aftertaste.
3.6 Taster on tap @ Kaapse Brouwers Rotterdam. Double red ale assez puissante avec une belle consistance.
3.6 330ml bottle pours deep red-amber with foamy beige head. Aromas of citrus hops, butterscotch and herbal characters. Tastes of orange rind, pine, toffee, honey, caramel malt, liquorice, smoke and pepper. Not much alcohol presence despite the 9.4% alc vol. Big body with slightly oily texture. Long finish with hoppy bitterness.
3.7 Bottle from de Caigny in Essen, Belgium. The beer is amber colored with a nice creamy head and good carbonation. The aroma is malty and has notes of caramel, dark fruits, licorice, spices, fresh hops and citrus. The taste is full bodied sweetness with notes of malts and caramel, dried fruits, licorice and goes to medium bitterness with notes of spices and some roasted and cacao notes. The finish is dry and long staying bitterness.
3.6 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 31-10-18 Rather attractive brew - deep reddish copper, dense off-white cream. Interesting nose - ripe strawberry, brown toffee, cream/vanilla, herbal malts, brownish toast, grapefruit. Full body without being rich/big, drying sort of bit of acrid roasty character cuts through things. Dark caramel sweetness upfront, bit of toast, vanilla, red fruits, plums, herbal hops, plenty of bitterness, touch of sort of dark roasty, almost chocolate character emerges with warmth. Plenty of bitterness, booze kicks through eventually. Very unique beer - unlike anything I’m yet to come across, and enjoyable.
3.6 330ml bottle BB 31 Oct 2018. Slightly hazy copper red with nice beige head. Big pine and resin aromas, along with some rockmelon, paw paw, toffee. The taste has big pine flavours, lots of caramel, some toasted bread, resin, marmalade - quite sweet, moderate bitterness. Medium bodied and drinks scarily much less than the big 9.4% ABV. Pretty good.
3.7 Red brown colour with lasting fluffy head. Aroma has lots of piney, resinous hop. A little bit of caramel too. Flavour is intense. Very bitter and sweet. Somewhat stewed and syrupy feeling.
3.9 From a 330ml bottle on 9/7/2017 (ABV listed as 9.4%, IBU 77). Pours a clear dark golden with a biggish head. The nose has some caramel, fruit with some resinous notes at the back. Taste wise, it’s very sweet up front with lots of candied and ripe fruit (apricot and peach), followed by big resiny hops, against a light caramel background. The palate is a touch syrupy and the carbonation is moderate. A really big and very enjoyable red ale, with the only knock being a slight harshness in bitterness.
3.0 Cloudy dark amber appearance with long lasting white head. Malty, hoppy and citrus aroma. Taste of lime, grape, grass and exotic fruit.
2.0 Sin gas, sin espuma. Entre naranja y marrón, sucia. Fea ¿Defectuosa? Intenso aroma dulce y cítrico, no muy agradable. En boca es una especie de sirope con mezcla de tonos dulces algo empalagosos, notas cítricas y herbales. Contrapunto amargo. No me gusta.
3.7 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, orange, red fruit, hops and citrus. Appearance: Hazy/turbid orange/dark orange beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium off-white/beige head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, orange and red fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Always love those very malty and dry hopped ’Red Ales’. This one is quite soft however, especially for its abv. Great appearance and palate though.
3.3 0.33l bottle. Not much of a head on this. A few thin bubbles floating in the top, but it’s definitely on the red side body vise! Plum red and after pouring the while bottle really on the cloudy side. Lots and lots of red berries, sticky toffee and a pretty hefty malt sweet aroma. Like it. Yeasty nuts and it smells like a well cellared barley wine this. Really intense and present aroma. It’s really boozy and strong this. Old reeds and a rush of yeast. Dry skin of plums and red apples. It has a thick and almost chewy texture in the mouth and it’s just below average on the prickling carbonation. Concentrated rose hips and it’s soapy bitter as well. Strong and a little over the top perhaps. Took a while to finish this one. 27.04.2017
3.3 2017 - 04 - 26 330ml bottle. amber colour. medium, off-white head. hint of citrus in aroma. bitter taste.
3.9 Robijnrood bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig, tamelijk zoet en fruitig met iets van thee, ananas en abrikoos. Erg goed.
3.5 0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with Višnja 666 and Goran. Murky golden to amber, small off-white head. Malt & hop balance, dry fruit, fruity hops, caramel with herbs, licorice. Moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate hoppy finish. I drank this one to fast for the conclusion. I guess that’s a good thing.
3.7 Rating #2339 - 2016.02.18 - Bottle from CBI. Pours a bubbly ruby colour with a decent off white head that fades rapidly. Aroma is caramel toffee malt, mild citrus, mild pepper, mild nutmeg. Lots of similar flavours on the palate, lots of caramelly sweetness and an earthy bitterness. Bold at 9.2%.
4.1 Oh yes, wald/frucht/malz und hopfenaffin. Lecker und wunderbar rötlich schimmernd. Nice Outfit. Gelungener, manchmal erdig britisch anmutender, Roggentrunk. Natürlich manchmal auch mit säurelastigen Zitronenspritzern zwischengeflavourt. Dazu sweety, manchmal angefunkt und außerdem ziemlich barley-wine-nah. Darf auch gerne mal ins Rumfässchen🎆!?!? 0,33/2,55. Aus dem DE MOLEN Shop in Holländ 😉.

3.6 Bottle. It pours hazy deep orange with a creamy off white head. Loads of malts and biscuit in the aroma with some berry notes. Sweet malty flavor. Some fruity hoppy notes. Biscuits and crackers. Reminds me of US Barley Wine style. Some bitterness in the finish.
3.9 Draught at 2nd Kaapse Anniversary. Somewhat hazy amber with a medium slightly off-white head. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Sweet and bitter. Caramel, passion fruit, citrus, orange and malts. Quite good.

3.5 Bottle. Reddish orange, low off white head. Malty, sweet fruity caramel, pleasant ripe tropical fruits, moderately bitter finish. Not too sweet, better than expected.
3.5 330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Aker Brygge. Hazy apricot body. Dissipating white head, dotted spots at the glass. Rather rich aroma of dried fruits and mid-sweet malts. Ripe citrus flavours added by almond and brown malts. Malt-fruity ending with warming alcohol. Full bodied. Nice (Shared with Cunningham at the great Munch drinking session, hotel room, Oslo 15.03,2016).
3.9 Bottle shared by Cuso. Thanks! Clear amber-red colour. Aroma lots of caramel, toasted, burnt sugar. Taste begins the same, rather sweetish. Then it shortly leans towards heavy bitterness and rich hoppy fruity flavours. Finish shows a bit of alcohol. Very good.
3.7 ?i>Bottle from 100 piv. Orange colored beer with minimal white head. Aroma, honey, oranges, malt. Taste, oranges, malt, hops with zest, honey, alcohol. Good.
