3.6 330ml bottle at Cafe Gollem, Amsterdam on 14/12/2009. Big aroma of vanilla, oak, leafy hops and esters. Boozy notes comes through, but are well balanced in the flavour.
4.0 Yellow amber, hazy color. Firm head. Subtle aroma of yellow fruits and a hint of wine. Multiple layers in the taste. Starting with an extension of its smell with fruity sweetness and a hint of wine, some more bitterness kicks in in second instance to finish it off. In the aftertaste vanilla sweetness develops to complement the hoppy finish. Quite a nice, complex -though slightly off-balance- and adventurous triple.
3.6 Amber color with long lasting off-white head. Aroma has caramel, fruits and malt. Taste is malty sweet with long sweet and somewhat bitter aftertaste. Flavors of sweet fruits, yeast, citrus and spices. Some alcohol warmth too.
3.5 Bottiglia.
Uitstekende tripel. Donkere amberkleur, beige schuim. Zacht aroma, gist. Zachte smaak, de 10% valt niet op.
4.0 330ml bottle drunk at home on a warm February evening. Lightly hazy gold, a massive coarsely frothy head, plenty of lacing and long-lasting fast-rising carbonation. Aromas of stewed fruit, raisins, honey, sourdough bread. In the mouth, sweet and thick textured at first, yeilding to dry sourness and thick bitterness, rich flavours of cumquat marmalade, honey, boiled raisins, dry sherry, dark rum, noticeable alcohol presence, high frothy carbonation with brown sugar into the aftertaste. Perhaps a bit light on the nose but monumental in all other respects.
3.5 0,33l bottle, as Kapittel Watou Tripel Abt 10. Pours hazy orange with visible yeast and a huge white head. Yeasty and sweet, with fruitiness. Some sourness to go with it.
3.9 Amberkleurige zachte tripel met witte schuimkraag. Fruitig en kruidig. Redelijk aanwezige nabtitterheid.
3.0 As Kapittel Watou Tripel Abt 10°. Bottled 0,33L. Unclear yellow color, hazy and bubbly aspect with foamy and lively white head of medium resistance. Aroma is moderate yeasty and spiced, pungent and sour nose of aged grapes, spicy, pepper. Intence alcoholic impression, moderate carbonation, oily texture, sweet and sour fruity palate, spiced and salty final.
3.0 Wednesday afternoon at the Cafe Bastille, near Taipower MRT. Aroma: sour, cheap white wine. Appearance: semi-opaque dark honey amber, no head to speak of. Palate: full-bodied and oily, soft carbonation; long and complex, predominantly bitter finish. Taste: aroma completely belies the taste, which is medium bitter, sweet and not particularly subtle. Very boozy, malt loaf, figs. This one kicks you in the face.
3.7 Che tripel bizzarra! Color oro torbida quasi opaca e schiuma compatta, pannosa, a piccole bolle.
3.8 330ml bottle from belgiuminabox.com. Pours golden with big white head. Very nice aromas of fruit (apricot?), honey and alcohol. Taste is sweet, caramel-y, alcohol again, some fruit, syrup. Very solid tripel.
3.9 Golden and slightly cloudy. Massive head that took a long time to reduce. Slightly sweet with a full body. Not a lot of subtleness but still quite impressive. A new brewery for me.
3.8 Amber hazy big fluffy white head. Aroma: spizy and boozy, apricot brandy (tsuika). Dry with spicy and boozy bitterness. Flavour: tsuika again, after that black pepper, overripe apricotes, fortified wine. Good.
3.6 Bottle@Tuulensuu, Tampere, Finland. Strong, averagely balanced nuances of honey and light malts. Some yeast. Wide/medium taste spectrum and long aftertaste with boozy wheat. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, nicely organic but simple. 8 3 7 3 15
3.2 Donkergeel of lichtoranje.
3.9 Fles 75 cl gedronken in Watou .
3.7 Clear copper puur with some flakes floating around covered by a creamy white layer. Typical wet dog, banana, clove and herbal tripel aroma, along with some fresh baked bread and malts. Inviting. Over medium bitter sweet. Medium to full mouthfeel with a lot of Co2. Good, better than good even.
3.8 Flaska från Beergium. 2014 vintage. Gyllengul i princip klar med högt vitt skum. Gott.
2.8 Tap at the Kulminator, 07/12/18. Clear golden with a well presented off white covering. Nose is raw fruit, grains, booze fumes, dusty, sugars. Taste comprises bitter sweet fruits, light soap, grains, straw, sugars, light booze. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not great ... 1D, sweet and lacking any complexity.
2.5 Tap at kulminator, clear golden orange coloured pour with a a lasting fluffy white foam. Aroma is semi sweet vanilla, stewed apple,. Flavour is composed of semi sweet stale bread, metallic rusty penny, stewed veg. Palate is semi sweet, grainy, soft carbonation. Meh.
2.6 6 3 5 2 10 Draft shared at Kulminator. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of citrus, herbs, yeast, sickly notes and malt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Above medium bodied with light carbonation.
3.4 Copenhagen 30/10 2018. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Bryggervangen, Kbh Ø. Hearty Monks saluting with blonde beers. But then again if you’re celebrating with a ABV 10 beer no wonder you look delerious. Pours hazy golden yellow with very big white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer and clinging to the side of the glass. Moderate Lacing. Aroma is earthy and malty. Sweet malts, humid Belgian basement and a notable whiff of alcohol. A little fruitiness of banana. Strong carbonation. Slightly thick, creamy yet fairly lively texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by a more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is moderately bitter and lingers a while. Subdued alcoholic burn. Solid muscular Belgian tripel which despite a serious ABV Manages not to be especially boozy.
3.9 Bottle. Honey gold, massive foamy white head. Sweet doughy spicy yeast, honeycomb, graham crackers, floral hop aroma. Syruppy malt, sweet bread, noble hop bitterness, a little boozy. Gets more bitter with subsequent sips, some mineral rich water too. Nice tripel.
