Kapittel Watou Pater

Kapittel Watou Pater

Bottle conditioned.

For this sweet flavoured and dark brown beer,we use aromatic malt (for the dark colour). For abbey beer, Kapittel Pater has rather low abv (6%). The hop we use is Poperingse hop which has only a light bitter taste.

3.2 33 cl fles. 22 IBU. Roodbruin bier met grote crème kleurige wand klevende schuimkraag. Geur: licht geroosterde mout, kandij, licht hoppig. Smaak: wat metaal, licht bitter, wat mout. Goede koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: een klein zuurtje.
2.2 Amber pour, nose is malt, caramel and yeast, taste is malt, alcohol, sugar, some chocolate and coffee.
3.4 Copenhagen 22/9 2018. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Bryggervangen, Kbh Ø. Happy looking Monks drinking Dark Beer on the label. Green rim on the label. Pours slightly hazy, dark brown with big off-white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of frothy, creamy foam trying to crawl up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing. Aroma is dampened by the foam. Sweet, fermented, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, brown sugar. Sweet alcohol lurking in the background. Light notes of coffee. Medium carbonation. Soft, creamy texture kept alive by little prickliness from the carbonation. Flavor has strong sweetness. Lighter bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with bitter notes. Lingers for a while. Solid Dubbel even though very much on the sweet side - but it comes with the territory.
2.8 Fles 33cl thuis. Zoet, kersen, caramel. Heeel licht bittertje na. Licht. (12-2011).
3.5 Amber color, foamy beige head, fruit, caramel and malt aroma, medium sweetness.
2.8 Amber pour, nose is malt, caramel and yeast, taste is malt, alcohol, sugar, some chocolate and coffee.
2.8 Bottle. Pours hazy, deep amber with lots of head and very good lacing. Aroma is acrid sweet malts, brown sugar, belgian phenols, light dark fruit. Flavour is winey, light caramel. High carbonation and good mouthfeel. Good.
2.9 Flesje thuis gedronken. Donker amberkleurig bier met stevig schuim. Aroma en smaak is zurig. Weinig nasmaak.
3.5 bottle, dark beer, small head. Aroma is malt, caramel, sweet. Taste is the same, sweet, some bitterness, ok.
1.8 Bottle at home. Light chestnut colour, foamy beige head. Very thin, malty, some acidity; that's it. Never again.
3.3 Botella de @Coalla Gourmet, Oviedo. 30/06/17.
3.8 From old tasting notes. Cloudy, orange brown color. Small beige head. Soft fruity malt nose. Dryish, yeasty malt flavor has a vinous character. Complex and flavorful.
3.4 Positively surprised by this one, which has the lowest abv of all Kapittel beers, but clearly not the least remarkable taste. Good mix of hops and spices, quite easy to drink, perhaps not a beer I?d choose between many others but definitely one that I?d enjoy on any occasion. Nice. APPROVED BY TAVERNY?S BLACK METAL CREW!
3.4 Bottle from CAMRA 2017 NWAF. Caramel brown, clear. Not much visible carbonation. Smell is a bit adjuncty with fruit caramel notes. Hoppy taste with a bit of caramel undertones. Nice carbonation in the clean finish. Verdict: a hard rate... although I enjoy it the beer had a cheap macro taste. Mixed feelings but overall it was drinkable.
3.2 Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, banana and malt. Flavour of malt, brown sugar and dark, dried fruit / raisins. Sour-sweet and slightly bitter finish.
Carbonatación a tope.
3.0 33 cl. bottle @ Rick. Light brown with a beige head. Malty caramel aroma with some yeast. Taste is caramelsweet. Body is quite thin. Not bad at alle but too thin and bland to be really enjoyable.
3.2 Botella 33 cl del c. Inglés tomada en Oviedo junio 2008. (r428). Fcpref 04..2009. Sabores maltosos algo tostados y dulces. Cuerpo ligero a medio de 6 vol. Normal.
3.9 [Oops, got two mixed up for the previous rating] Pours brown with tan head. Peach, grape, underlying hops and malt in aroma. Starts fruity and crisp, but evolves towards a toasted malt, caramel and wood in the finish. Medium body, maybe a tad milder. Oily, nice complex finish, long and interesting.
3.2 Clear dark amber, creamy offwhite head. Malty aroma, light notes of fruit. Caramely flavour, malty and somewhat fruity. Nutty, dry and bitter finish. Boring.
3.2 0.33l bottle. Hazy dark orange body, thin white head. Aroma of orange zest, dark sugar, toast and some floral hops. Taste of orange zest, caramel, toast, cherries and some grassy hops. OK beer, but nothing special for me.
3.4 F: big, off-white, average retention. C: brown with some red brown tones against the light, hazy. A: caramel malt, dark fruits, caramel, prunes, molasses, yeast, spicy, candy sugar, raisins. T: malty, not so sweet as in the aroma, fruity, toffee, yeasty, dates, dry grassy/floral bitterness, dark cherries, light caramel, prunes, metallic tones, medium body, lower carbonation, not bad, 330ml bottle from Spar in Poperinge.
3.4 hazy lighter brown colour, medium sized dense beige-ish head; aroma of dried plum and figs, toffee, earthy-banyard-like notes and some walnut; taste is the same with much less intensiveness and some rye-bready notes; drinkable, but definitely not among the best dubbels
3.1 How: Bottle. Where: Pressklubben, Stockholm. Appearance: Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Hops, fruit, malt. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Malt, fruit, alcohol, some hops.
3.4 Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer is dark amber colored and a stable creamy head, with average carbonation. The aroma is malty and fruity, with tones of dark fruits, caramel and brown sugar. The taste is light sweet with a light sourness from some fruits and ends with some spicy bitterness, with tones of licorice. The finish is dry and light bitter.
