3.6 Pine hop flavours, finishing with some grapefruit and mild bitterness. You stay classy, San Diego.
3.7 From a bottle. Looks great, smells a touch malty with a hint of biscuit, strong pine hop flavours with a lot of resin, delicious.
3.3 Blonde cuivrée, très fine mousse blanche. Nez agrume, citron, citron vert, agréable mais léger. Bouche agrumes (citron, pamplemousse). Amertume moyenne, corps léger. Une APA typique, sympa, mais sans aucune originalité !
3.7 Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Clear amber colour lasting beige head. Quite a tasty APA, fresh enough. Some danky grapefruit, some bitterness. I rather liked it. Good APA.
3.4 Bottle at home. Aroma is piney, pale malt, biscuits, caramel, citrus, grapefruit, leafs, hops. Flavour is light sweet and just about medium bitter. Body is medium. Rather mild malty piney APA, but enjoyable.
3.3 Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is somehow faint, some malts and earthy hops. Taste is also pretty simple. Slightly hoppy, slightly malty, not too bitter. Medium body with quite low carbonation. Easy drinking but nothing more.
3.0 Golden coloured and clear. Has a white head, medium duration. HOppy aroma, notes of grass.
3.1 Draught @ Karl Strauss La Jolla, San Diego, CA Pours dark copper orange with a small head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee and pine. Taste is grainy malty, caramely and earthy. Finish is malty and caramely with some grassy notes. Decent.
2.6 light sweet malty aroma, golden, clear, off white foam, light watery sweet malty finish.
3.3 Bottle, 5.3%. Clear amber with medium off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, grapefruit, hop, earthy and spicy. Flavour is malt, caramel, medium sweet, hop, little earthy, little old hop and medium bitter.
2.8 Expected aroma and taste of the style, a little peppery, not that smooth or balanced.
3.5 Bottle. It pours mostly clear golden with a creamy white head. The aroma is quite malty with a fruity and light piney hop character. Caramel malty backbone in the flavor with lighter piney and grassy hops. Citrus and bread notes. Easy drinkable.
3.5 Schöne Erscheinung im Glas, leichtes Gushing. In der Nase blumig, Zitrus, Äpfel. Im Trunk leicht alkoholisch, fruchtig, leicht holzig im Abgang, dann etwas alkoholisch. Feines Bierchen, Der Abgang trübt etwas die Drinkability. Trotzdem lecker.
3.3 October 5th, 2013 - The Pintail: hoppy, fresh and piney in the nose, and the flavor keeps up. There’s a nice depth of hops, a floral flourish, and a good, refreshing quality overall.
2.6 Ratebeer Odense Summer Gathering 2015. Hazy pale amber with a lasting white head. Malty aroma with lots of caramel, sugar and unfermented wort, with a touch of citrus. Sweet malty flavour with herbal and citrus notes
2.3 Odense ratebeer summer gathering 2015. Pours amber with white head. Aroma if malts, caramel, notes hops. Taste of caramel, malts, dead hops.
3.0 Can @ Odense Summer Gathering, 2015. Pours hazy golden with a creamy white head and lacings. Deep malty aroma, caramel, bread and a faint citrus note. I doubt this has ever been a hoppy beer.
4.2 0,335 Flasche von bier-deluxe. Mein erstes amerikanisches Bier. Klare goldgelbe Farbe und richtig viel Schaum. Blumig fruchtig und leicht malzig am Anfang, danach ein richtig fruchtiges Pale Ale
3.3 Golden with a white head - Hops in the aroma with citrus notes - Malt body with some nice hop flavours with citrus and nice bitterness - The malt and hop bitterness goes into the finish - This was nice
3.2 355ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Piney and citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit, lemon, orange zest, caramel malty background. Taste is bitter hoppy, sweaty, minimally fruity hoppy, caramel malty background with hints of almond; unbalanced at first sip, later more reconciliatory with an accumulation of citrusy lemon flavours and a cleaner caramel malty basis, minimally soapy nevertheless.
3.1 Bottle 12fl.oz. [ As Karl Strauss Pintail Pale Ale ]. Clear medium orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel - pale malt, moderate hoppy, fruity hops. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration, tropical fruit - hops, fruity hops, oæd hops. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150620]
3.0 Bottled@fonefan. Golden colour, medium sized white head. Aroma is floral, some mild glue like notes, and wooden notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, some toffeeish and mild sugary notes.
3.5 35,5 cl bottle @ Sankt Hans Tasting, Ulfborg. Aroma has very sweet fruity tones and some sweet malt. Also resiny hops. Flavour has sweet malty tones, resiny hops, tropical fruits and caramel. Also minerals. The hops are nice but this is just too sweet - drinkability suffers.
3.3 Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and moderate hoppy - fruity and old hops. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 200615
4.2 Draft at brewery. Pours clear amber with nice white head and lacing. Nose is floral and citrus. Nice sweetness in the taste. Some dryness in the aftertaste. Great.
3.5 355 ml bottle. Pours clear golden color with a large head. Resin and hops on the nose, hay, some pine needles and orange. Bitter caramel malts and resinous hops on the flavor, orange, gooseberry notes, pineapple and some grapefruits. An APA on the maltier side, decent. 3414
3.5 355 ml bottle. Pours a copper colour with a small head. Aroma of orange marmalade, caramel sweetness and citrus. Flavour of sweet juicy fruitiness, citrusy tartness, floral bitterness, mild graininess and quite heavy caramel malts. Medium bodied. Juicy, dry, fruity finish. Good.
5.0 If you haven’t yet tried it yet? Do yourself a flavour. This is a fine example of how an American Pale Ale should be. Ticks all the boxes for me. A hop forward bouquet with equal malt. Nice creamy lacey head all the way to the bottom of the glass. Tastes as good as it smells. All that resinous pine and grapefruit. Not overly Carbonated. Goes down easy without any bite. Sweet malt backbone with 45 IBU’s of bitterness that isn’t over the top. Very sessionable and leaves you wanting more. No need to drink this ultra cold. It’s an ale, not a lager. So why try and tame it’s flavours? How anyone could not give this a full score is beyond me. I love it. Will definitely be buying a case or two soon.
3.0 355 ml bottle into tall glass. Excellent citric hop/caramel nose. Hazy copper beer with solid small head. Medium carbonation. Quite flat light mouthfeel. Taste starts as malt then turns all pineapple on you. Unexpectedly sweet finish that lingers. It’s like Belgian chocolates at the start but Juicy Fruit at the end.
