Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad

Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad

Was first produced as "Kasteel Winter" but then rebranded to "Barista Chocolate Quad". The name ‘Barista’ conjures thoughts of the fragrance of steaming coffee below a layer of expertly created froth. This may sounds rather far-fetched for a beer... However, the aromas and the flavours of caramel, cacao and roast malt match seamlessly with the ‘black gold’ and chocolate. This beer builds bridges with the world of hot beverages, with warming alcohol in the finish. One to enjoy all the year round: with a meal, in front of an open fire or on an outdoor terrace.

3.3 330ml bottle. Pours a deep brown, almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate & candy shop.Maybe some berry. Beer tastes similar, the coffee is dialled well back, sweet chocolate & that strange sweetshop flavour. The ABV seems well hidden. Nice enough but it seems a bit artificial in some way & without the body I would expect from an 11% stout or dark ale. Maybe why it seems very cheap.
3.7 Clear dark reddish brown with a good beige head. Aroma: Malt - milk chocolate, caramel, a hint of tobacco. Esters - almond, vanilla Mouth: Sweet with a moderate bitterness. Pleasant. Cacao and coffee. Medium body, medium carbonation.
4.1 Tap at Indewildeman, 24th March 2022. Pours black, aroma is chocolate and coffee. Taste is chocolate, light coffee, caramel,,firm and intense. Unusual and very good
3.5 Tap at Malt Worm. Medium objective body, feels full though, through high silky carbonation and mouthfeel. Also lots of milky cofeeish chocolatey flavour, feels like a classic Slovak bonbon. Imo good but not great, mostly evocative of primary school milky coffee drink.
3.9 330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a large beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, chocolate. Taste is sweet, dark fruits, chocolate (with some bitterness), caramel, brown sugar, subtle spice. Chocolate a tad synthetic at first but overall all seems to work out fine.
3.5 Too much chocolate... too one dimensional. Base beer is spot on, but the over fudge of the beer makes it worth not trying. Trollenkelder gent
3.2 Bottle shared by PeO, thanks. Fluffy and semi lingering milk chocolate brown head. Dark brown color. Big dark chocolte aroma. Distinct acidity. Slim body for such strong beer.
4.0 Dark brown colour, medium brown head, aroma of chocolate, plums, some vanilla. Taste is very sweet, lower bitterness, chocolate, plums, vanilla, rich and fine taste. Very enjoyable.
3.8 33cl bottle from hopt.it, France. Pours dark brown, elegant, with fine light brown foam. Aroma is intensely chocolate, molasses, caramel, nutty. Body is fairly dense, with moderate carbonation. Taste is markedly sweet, with a pretty long final.
3.6 Flaska från Belgoklubben. Mörkt brun med ljusbrunt skum. Rejält med choklad i smak och doft.
3.8 Thick as a brick chocolate syrup combined with coffee beans. Heavy rich caramel flavor. Burned sugar. Very strong all around.
3.9 Aroma: chocolate, prune, steel and some hop Appearance: nice dark red/brown clear, tan head and sheet lacing Taste: chocolate, spiritous like a brandy liquor. Palate: long chocolate finish
3.4 Barwa brunatna, piana niska, dosyć trwała. W aromacie toffi, kawa, brązowy cukier, przyprawy korzenne.
Aroma a chocolate, café, vainilla. Sabor a cacao, café, vainilla, frutos secos.

Volle smaak. Duidelijke chocolade tonen. Zoete afdronk. Topper!
3.8 33cl bottle from local Auchan store drinking 9/09/2021 BB 01-2026 Pours a quite dark full brown with a large fluffy brownish/beige foam on top and great lacing. Strong aroma of milk chocolate and cocoa, belgian yeast, malt and burnt caramel, raisins, hint of vinegar maybe. Taste is quite sweet with a sweet chocolate note, roasted malt, yeast, toffee, caramel, cocoa, touch of vanilla and low bitter but with a pleasant slightly dry delicious chocolate milk and caramel flavoured finish and aftertaste. Full bodied, very high 11% abv hidden in the taste (feels very smooth) and pleasantly rich and interesting taste without being super complex. Creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Quite good and warming, really not bad at all, the sweetness doesn't feel out of place and warms you up also dangerously strong and boozy, apart from being a bit too heavy it drinks really easy.
4.0 330ml bottle. Black with a thin tan head that fizzed away leaving a soapy film. Chocolate and caramel aromas, flavour is chocolate, caramel, coffee. Far too drinkable for the strength
3.8 Pours very dark with a light tan cream head and oil like color. Huge aroma of chocolate coffee milk and a creamy thick taste. Amazing with a light cigar.
3.4 Brownish black with a fluffy head. Aroma of coffee malt. Flavour is burnt caramel, raisins on a coffee malt fizzy yeast base.
