3.5 Donker roodbruinbier, schuimkraag die meteen dood slaat. Smaken van rood fruit, caramel en een vleugje vanille.

3.9 Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Red amber colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Creamy palate. Nice.

4.0 33cl can as simply "Barley Wine", from hopt.it. Pours reddish brown, medium transparency, with quickly fading foam. Aroma is heavily/intensely malty, molasses, figs. Body is fairly thickand sticky, with medium carbonation but with rather fine bubbles. Taste is pretty sweet, even more in the final, which is balanced by some spiciness.

3.7 Po zapachu słodowo, suszone owoce, lekko winnie, kwiaty. Z wyglądu bursztyn, przejrzyste, piana beżowa, ładna ale opada dosyć szybko. W smaku bardzo słodkie, gęste, wysoka goryczka palono alkoholowa. Alkohol dosyć wyraźny ale przy 11,5% to raczej normalne. Temperatura pokojowa i to był trochę błąd bo piwo z wagi ciężkiej i przy trochę niższej temperaturze nie było by tak opresyjne. Ogólnie bardzo ok ale tylko dla kumajacych styl.

3.7 Canned, 330 ml at Ambasada, courtesy of Saša. Hazy orange brown with off white head. Caramel, malty, some dried fruit, sweet with bitterness in finish. Low carbonation. Medium bodied.

4.1 Barwa rubinowo bursztynowa, lekko przełamana mgiełką. Piana biała, niska, nie trwała. Topnieje tworząc delikatny, spieniony pierścień. o dziwo całkiem ładnie krążkuje. Aromat zdecydowanie słodki, słodowy, chlebowy z nutami orzechów, karmelu. W tle nuty szlachetnego alkoholu (może Winiak), akcenty korzenne i ziemiste Smak jest umiarkowanie słodki z podobnie delikatną goryczką. Alkohol dobrze schowany. Wysycenie średnie, nieco przeszkadza. Ciało pełne. Gładka, miękka tekstura. Posmak odrobinę za krótki, słodowy, chlebowy.

4.0 Can from Etre. Brilliant dark brown with garnet edges and a thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Rich bready toasty toffee maltiness with plenty of dried fruits earthy hops and moderate warming alcohol. Really nice sipper!

3.6 Can from Deconinck. As 'Barley Wine'. Hazy reddish amber, thin, off-white head. Aroma of candied date, fig, pear syrup, caramel, ripe plum, liquorice, sweet cherry, sugared yoghurt. Taste has very sweet date, cherry & raisin in a thick, syrupy, caramelly body, reminiscent of actual candy almost; some bittersweet liquorice & spicy aniseed in the middle. Ends herbal hoppy, quickly overpowered again by concentrated candy, syrup & dried fruits, but the aniseed element is rather strong here too, hence the 'pastis'-like alcohol warmth. Medium body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Reading some older ratings, I can't help but guess that the recipe changed a bit. I miss a more balancing hoppiness and the aniseed hint makes it too tiring to drink. So, good, but for a short while.

4.2 Barwa ciemnej herbaty, rubinowe przebłyski. Piana brązowa, drobna, wysoka. W aromacie bardzo przyjemne nuty owocowe. Do tego nuta likierowa, alkoholowa. Ale całkiem przyjemna. Lekko ziołowe. W smaku bardzo przyjemnie owocowe. Jest ciekawa goryczka. Trochę cierpkawe. nuty wytrawnych wiśni, rodzynki. Bardzo dobre.

3.9 Blik thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een roodbruin bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige en fruitige geur. De smaak is vol, moutig, fruitig, zacht zoet en alcohol achtig.

4.2 Bottle 33cl. batch 17.23, bough 12/5/17, bbd 6/21, @home poured into a teku glass. Strong alcohol nose, opaque deep amber colour (looks like a vintage port), small beige creamy head, short lasting, Aroma sweet malt, caramel, fudge, raisins, cinnamon, candy sugar, vinous, alcohol. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee, candy sugar, dried fruits, vinous, warming alcohol. Full-bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation, smooth and sticky sweetbitter aftertaste, malty notes, sugary, bit woody. A rich and elegant barley wine, yes a lot of sweetness and yes a lot of alcohol but well-balanced and tasty, excellent stuff.

3.7 (Can, 0.33 l, at Stadin Panimobaari, 20200926) The beer mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, molasses, prunes and raisins. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, grass, molasses, prunes, berries and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A pleasant malty brew with the notes of molasses and prunes. Earlier Rating: 10/17/2017 Total Score: 2.9 (Keg at Sori Taproom, 20171017) The beer poured brown and hazy. No head. Aroma had caramel, sweetness and malts. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, malts, caramel and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A way too sweet brew.

2.8 Can at Stadin Panimo, Helsinki. Color is clear reddish brown with very small white head. Aromas and flavours: Ripe fruits, bread and malts. Quite simple.

4.0 Mooi amberkleurig bier, lichtbeige schuimkraag. Zoet, rood fruit, karamel. Volle body. Lekker!

3.8 33 cl can poured in to a Snifter. Deep red mahogany colour with a thin lightly tanned head. Really good looking. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, overripe fruits, figs and dates. Taste is sweet. Full bodied. Slightly drying fruity finish with rich caramel malts and fruits. Enough hops to balance the sweetness. Nice.

4.2 Donker roodbruin bier met schuim. Smak is warm, zoet en krachtig met iets van rozijnen, zoet fruit en vanille. Erg fijn bier. Volgens het etiket is de ABV 11.5%. Earlier Rating: 7/16/2017 Total Score: 4.6 Bruin bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is krachtig, warm, zoet en lichtbitter met iets van bramen, pruimen en karamel.

3.9 330ml from The Gull LRS @ home shared with Andrey. BB 10-2021. Appearance: hazy copper with a beige head. Aroma: very malty, sweet, some creamy notes, figs. Taste: along the same lines, moderately sweet, thick and malty. Overall: good one. Earlier Rating: 4/12/2016 Total Score: 4.4 On tap at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Pours a murky dark brown with an almost white head. Aroma is very complex: dark fruits, mead, liquor. Taste is the same + slight hoppy bitterness. Caramel plus hoppy bitterness aftertaste. Excellent!

4.3 Amber colour with thin light beige head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, strawberries, raspberries. Taste starts caramel sweet with dried fruits and strawberries. Citrus bitterness follows with long lasting bitter and warming aftertaste. Very very nice.

3.8 330ml can. Deep dark amber brown, thin beige head. Aroma is malty, dried fruits, caramel. Taste is very sweet, malty, raisins, caramel, a hint of citrusy hops, not as prominent as I expected for a supposedly American style barley wine. Medium body, smooth, no carbonation.

3.8 Amber color with a thin foam. Nose. Sweet, wine, caramel, fruit hops. This is the smell of barley wines. Taste. Sweet, oily body. malt, wine notes, pastry notes, bread notes. Very good balanced barley wine.

3.8 Uitstekende Nederlandse gerstewijn. Viskeus, plakkerig in de mond. Karamel, geitenkaas, graan, kandij, rozijnen. Lekker.
