4.8 On tap at The Showman, Bloxwich. Had this beer plenty of times and it's a favourite of mine. Pale golden colour with a light citrus, hoppy aroma. Taste is strong and hoppy with a nice, sour, bitter aftertaste. Easy to sip or guzzle.
3.2 Pours clear. Orange peel aftertaste. Slightly thin head. Hoppy . Draught The Wellington. Birmingham.
3.8 A nice critrusy and hoppy pale ale. Probably ruined a bit by being under chilled so maybe I would get another few points if colder. But still enjoyed it.
2.7 Cask at The Pennsylvanian (Spoons), Rickmansworth, Herts. A golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Vague hoppy, citrus aroma. Tastes slightly hoppy, citrus and very bitter indeed. Not one I'll bother with again.
3.0 Golden with creamy head. Good lacing orange citrus notes with a smooth crisp bitter finish. On Cask at The Malt Shovel Willenhall
2.5 Cask @ White House, Luton Złoty w kolorze z niewielką białą pianą. Aromat okropny, odrzucający. Płyn do mycia naczyń, kanaliza. Zero cytrusów. Gdzieś w tle trochę ciasteczkowej słodowości . W smaku znacznie lepiej, ale także nic specjalnego. Trochę cytrusów, pszenicznego ciałka, ciasteczek, herbatników, toffi i karmel. Wodnista tekstura. Długi, ściągający finisz. Pijalność kiepska...
3.4 Pint on cask at the flying horse a solid eastwood western and a solid beer hints of strawberry some tropical tastiness
3.6 Cask at Old Hales beer festival. Perhaps shouldn’t have had this first... Strongly ginger bitter hops. Decent
2.9 Fra håndpumpe påmThe Mossy Well, Muswell Hill (London), mars-17: klar lys gylden med ok skum. Lys malt, honning, citron og appelsin i aroma og smak. I tillegg en touch av granskudd. Fin munnfølelse, behagelig bitterhet i avslutningen, lettdrikkelig.
3.0 Cask @ The Salopian. Pours clear gold white head. Aroma of pale malts, soft citric hop. Taste is smooth, zesty, grassy with some pale malt grains. Ok.
3.3 Cask: A clear golden colour with a smooth white head. A sweet orange citrus and grain aroma. An orange peel bitterness, some malty sweetness an oily hop bitter finish.
2.9 Drunk from 50cl bottle bought from Asda in Wakefield. Enjoyable hoppy ale.
3.5 Pours a pale colour. Taste is quite hoppy and fruity a very nice beer. One to look out for again
4.0 Bottle. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of orange pith, grain and lime. Flavour of pale malt, grassy hops and orange. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel Soft fizz. An exceptionally clean Pale Ale. This reminded me of Fyne Ales’ Hurricane Jack.
3.0 Cask. No great scent more grain than hop but some faint citrus. Pour golden with thin lace top. Taste wise it’s a hoppy pale with a definite bitterness lingering on the palate. Overall nothing special.
3.4 Grain aroma. Quite bitter on palate. Good strength. Nice strong beer. Second pint better. Like taste.
2.8 On tap at the lincoln TapHouse And kitchen. Golden colour with a light light citrus aroma. Taste sweet to mid bitter finish
2.7 Light ale. Sharp aroma. Very hoppy. Hint of citrus zest, but some sweetness. Cereal in background.
3.1 Cask at The Earl Grey Inn, Leek. A clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of grain, slight wheat, subtle cereal, some grapefruit, maybe peach and floral hops. Taste of grain, slight wheat, some grapefruit, a little peach, grass and floral hops. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A dry, lingering, floral hop bitterness in the finish. A big floral hop bitterness in this, balanced with, maybe unappealing, malts. A drinkable strong pale ale but Kelham Island and other breweries do better than this.
3.3 Bottle - clear pale yellow, decent white head. Fruity, floral aroma - initial sparkling but ok tongue / mouth. Smooth, lemony citrus flavour - good aftertaste. Nice beer.
2.1 Bottle. Asda. Bright gold. Barely a head. Aroma is all buttery, malty nonsense. A bare trace of hop. Taste is sweet, then bitter. Hard to elaborate on. Chewy palate. Finishes metallic bitter.
3.3 Cask at CBC Clapham, Craft 100, London. It pours a rich straw/golden color with small white head. Aroma is grainy, grassy, biscuty. Taste of toasted bread, dried leaves, grass and citrus leaves. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, ok
3.0 Cask at a JDW pub in Manchester, Pours light amber with diminishing white head. No aroma to speak of. Taste is dry with cereal flavour and small amounts of grapefruit. Hops come in hard on a long, bitter finish. I felt the overall flavour was let down by its overtly alcoholic nature. I’d have enjoyed this more at less than 5.2% ABV, but still a decent beer.
3.4 500ml bb?, courtesy of Sheffield D&M, ta. "Hand crafted Pale Ale.", not "A Strong Pale Ale". The Roger Protz tasting notes quoted on the label is near-spot on, apart from the biscuit malts which have run a tad thin and fizzed. Floral citrus aromas, "perfumy", earthier lemongrass notes make a brisk, zippy appearance in taste, quickly turning resinous in taste, bitter finish. Bright clean quencher with a certain UK subtlety, relinquished towards shorted-breathed US hop clarity.
3.4 Cask at the White Lion, Bridgnorth. Mid gold. Apple, astringency, slight tropical fruit cocktail aroma. Bitter taste with sweet edges. Key lime pie, pineapple. Fuller palate than would normally be expected with a pale ale. This is an iconic ale, and while better than most does not quite live up to the almost reverential reputation. Damn good though.
3.8 Cask at Fat Cat. Pale gold colour. Good strong aromas of tropical fruits and pungent hops. Flavour of citrus with moderately bitter hops. This is a great beer and one of the best pale ales around.
3.2 Very pale almost washed out appearance. Very hoppy aroma and extremely pungent taste. Nice creamy subtle head.
3.5 50cl bottle at home from beerritz.co.uk. Body is clear pale golden, head is very small, white, mostly diminishing, fair lacing. Nose is floral, flavor is honey, light malt, floral, wheat, millet. Medium to heavy sweet, light to medium bitter. Finish is medium lasting hoppy bittersweet. Medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation. Easy, refreshing, tasty, sweet but moderated, light hoppy summer beer.
4.1 Cask @ Camperdown palce Glasgow A pale golden ale with white head Aroma is fruit with grain Taste is dry with fruity tones and long bitter finish nice beer
2.9 Cask at cloisters. Pours clear golden, nose is sweaty, toffee, taste is dry, sweet toffee, light fruit
