Kerst Pater Special Christmas

Kerst Pater Special Christmas

3.4 Dark brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma of red berries, sweet malt and spices. Light bitter, light sour with a red berries, dried fruits and spices sense finish. Alc well hidden for a 9%. At dinner, ribbe/pinnekjøtt dec. 25th. BB 08.2023, bought at Vinmonopolet.no dec. 2019
2.1 Sweet, not sour.
3.5 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector 9%ABV BB 14/08/23 Deep bronze brew with small beige foam. Reasonably rich aroma - lots of sort of cakey/pudding like brown sugar stodge, get spices of clove & nutmeg and black pepper, slight sort of roastiness and raisin character. Quite thick, syrupy, sticky, lowish carbonation, boozy warmth throughout. Stacks of dark sugar sweetness upfront - treacle, molasses, earthy dark candi sugar; sweet but not quite if that makes sense - leads onto more savoury things - raisins, prunes, woody spice, plum pudding, warm booze, fairly bitter and dry to finish, almost metallic a touch. Slightly rough around the edges; the thought it there just not quite the execution.
3.5 The beer has got a deep dark brown color with a small head and smooth body. Aroma of malt and bread. Taste of roasted malt, barley, cake, plums and herbs. Smooth finish.
3.5 Bottle, bb 8/23. Dark brown with a beige head that doesn't last all that well. Intriguing chocolate and burnt spiced toffee aroma. Some red berries, wine. Full bodied. Very sweet and quite boozy with chocolate and caramel, sweet cherries, but also a little vinous and sour cherry edge and that odd burnt toffee note that has a bitter touch to it. An interesting way to balance. Very rich - 330ml is shareable amongst 2-3.
3.3 This is a backlog rating from 2007 from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time. Words to describe this beer are fruit, cherries, spices, caramel.
3.9 Lekker donker biertje, relatief zoet qua smaak, donker met lichte schuimkraag
3.5 330ml bottle. Bruna-rossiccia, schiuma avorio-beige media. In bocca è dolce, maltata e speziata, classica natalizia belga. Corpo medio-pieno, carbonazione medio-leggera. Buona.
3.0 Weak head not lasting very long, sweet and kind of “old” aroma, very sweet and heavy taste, lots of alcohol, not very balanced.
3.3 Copenhagen 30/12 2018. 33 cl bottle from Ølhandleren in Give. Drawing of Santa with a red cap in close up, holding reins and grabbing for gifts?! Pours opaque dark brown with bubbly, yellowish head. Settles as thin, lively layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Substantial Lacing. Aroma is sweetly spicy and boozy. Dark, fermented plum, banana, brown sugar. Humid basement. Low carbonation. Flat, slightly thick, soft texture. Flavor has strong sweetness and only a light spicy bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with light sourish tang. Lingering. A very sweet but undeniably Belfgin Christmas Beer.
3.5 330ml bottle. Hazy, dark brown colour with average, thick, creamy, mostl ylasting, moderately lacing, beige head. DArk malty and yeasty fruity aroma, hints of chocolate, notes of dreid fruit, raisin, plum, dark berries, black cherry. Taste is sweet, malty, slightly sugary, minimally alcoholic, yeasty fruity, hints of rock sugar, caramel, chocolate, notes of dried fruit, plum, cherry, raisin.
3.5 Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours a nice black with small head of cream foam, very fine and persistent. Aroma is malty, caramel, candy sugar, coffee liquor, licorice. Body is dense with moderate carbonation. Taste has good sweetness, moderated by alcohol. Finish is fairly long and liquor-like, recalling licorice.
3.6 Close to black body with a small, tan head. Quite strong aroma of dark dried fruits, red wine, oak, overripe red berries, spices, yeast, and Coca-Cola. Strong flavour that follows the aroma, with hints of barnyard in addition to the red wine barrels. But... uh... the label doesn't mention red wine barrels, or any barrel aging at all, so what is confusing me? The Belgian yeast? A light infection? I don't know, but I still love the beer! Moderate sweet taste without much bitterness, but with a very light sourness. Full body, syrupy texture, moderate carbonation. Exciting and complex (whether it's infected or not)! [33 cl bottle, enjoyed 5 yeats before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Storo, Oslo]
3.2 Flaske fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Sentrum. Delt med EgilB på Høgda. Ultradyprød. Filmskum. Metallaroma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken druer. Innslag av sjokolade etter hvert. Alkoholen godt kamuflert.
4.5 12-09-2018; bottle; at home (bought online at www.drankgigant.nl, Oost-Souburg, The Netherlands). The looks of the beer are very good. The beer is nice and very dark. A lovely ruby red glow can be seen in bright light; a nice dark chestnut colour is present in the dark. On top of the beer there is a lovely layer of dark almond coloured foam. The foam is soft and looks a bit creamy. Foam retention is good. The beer is very aromatic. It reminds me a bit of the good dark Trappist beers, like the ones by Rochefort. Nice sweet malts, with caramel and toffee, sweet chocolate, sugar sweetness, some earthy hops. It is mainly sweet malt aromas, with all kind of malty goodness. Very suitable for a winter beer. The earthy hops also give a nice spicy character to the beer, making it even more suitable as a winter beer. Yeast gives some nice sweet fruity esters. Very nice. Full of aroma and flavour. The taste of the beer is also very nice. It is a rather sweet beer, but the bitterness of some toasted malts and of the hops bring great balance. Also a slight sour note of the yeast is nice, completing the balance. The palate of the beer is also nice. Full body, silky smooth, medium carbonation. The finish of the beer has some nice fruity esters and a lovely full creamy sweetness that lingers on forever. All in all, I really like this beer. Definitely a good Christmas brew.
3.2 33cl Bottle @ Saveur-Biere, Lille, France. Dark brown colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is malt, sweet. Taste is malt, caramel, nuts. Medium body, moderate carbonation.
4.3 Ale fuerte belga de navidad. En barril. Color marrón. Poca espuma que desaparece. Gusto muy equilibrado dulce-amargo. Fruta, malta.
3.2 Dark brown to black coloured body, medium white off to mokka coloured head, some sweet grape like fruity sour smell, medium to high co2 low bitter, fruity grape malts some coffee like taste
3.5 Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Dark ruby black colour lasting tan head. Some nutty malty flavour. Smooth in mouth, quite a lot of chocolate. Hides abv well. I rather liked it. Not much hop or spice. A little chewy. But decent definitely. Some dark fruits, raisins.
Buena eleccin.
3.8 Thanks Kraddel. Tasted december 2017, bottled 2009. Tad oxidized, but still very nice. Port all over the place! Very interesting.
4.0 Bottle from Beerwulf. Very dark brown beer with small patchy head. Aroma of dark malts, a hint of coffee and molasses. Taste is a little spice, brown bread, dark malt and caramel. Medium bodied. Very good.
3.9 clear brown colour with ruby hue, large, creamy beige-ish head; aroma and taste of dried cherry, unripe plum, dark chocolate and candiend roasted peanut; great one!
3.6 Appearance is very dark brown, pretty much no head. Aroma- treacle, dark malts, toffee, dark fruit. Taste- sticky treacly dark malt, hint of chocolate, toffee, Christmas cake.
3.6 Thin beige head soon left a cover on a very dark brown still body. Minimal aroma of malt & spiced orange. Medium to full bodied. Thick & chewy on the palate. Very little carbonation & sticky & cloying on the back. Liquorice, cherry, orange, spices, sugar & malt tastes with some added Festive Flavours!!
