Kirin Light

Kirin Light

With just 95 calories and full-flavor, Kirin Light is one of the few great world-class Lights.
Canadian barley malt, Czech hops, rich amber color.

Editor’s Note: Also brewed in the US: "Anheuser-Busch began brewing Kirin Lager, Kirin Ichiban and Kirin Light at its Los Angeles brewery in 1997. The agreement marks the first time Anheuser-Busch has produced foreign brands for sale in the United States."

1.2 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer literally looks like a glass of water with sudsy white head. The smell is slightly more aromatic than tap water. It did go pretty well with my cigar (due to the lack of flavor).
2.2 Bottle from Seafood City: Poured a light straw gold liquid that was full of large carbonation bubbles that stuck to all the surface of the glass. The head was fizzy but still thicker than other light beers. Aroma was subtle yet had a big aroma of quality malts that bring out the smell of sourdough or wheat bread and smells near identical to the original Kirin recipe but toned down just a notch. The flavor is actually refreshing and taste good despite this being a light beer. Flavor is typical adjunct flavorings such as rice and even though it has a pleasant dry finish it also reminds me of cheap malt liquor.
1.4 Hibachi, not much choice. Pours gold, fizzy white head. Aroma is mostly corn. Light bodied, no taste, meh.
1.8 Bottled. Pours golden clear. White head. Wheaty aftertaste that dissipates quickly.
1.2 bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Light amber color, white head that quickly drops to the rim, bits of lace that slide back in. Aroma is weak, uninviting adjunct. Taste is watery light malt that tries to put more than carbonation in after the swallow, but has no success. A barely light brew, not enough to justify a rating.
2.5 Quite a special taste, bamboo shoots? Perfect for Japanese food and other Asian dishes.
1.0 Just so little flavor. But thankfully no overwhelming off flavors either other than a little skunkiness but the bottle might have been old. Thirst quencher at best. Serving: Bottle
1.6 Bottle pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with a short lived white head. Zero lacing along the glass. Sweet malty aroma of corn. Flavor is quite light and sweet. Overall pretty bland with just a hint of hops.
2.6 Japanese beers tend to be on the light side in general and this light version of a Japanese beer is no exception. It is reasonably hoppy (unfortunately a bit skunky even served from a brown bottle) w/ a crisp, light palate. Lower than average alcohol makes it a good beer to have alongside food for lunch if you tend to be inclined to drowsiness after meals. Otherwise, this is like a slightly more hoppy version of Bud Light w/ a slight apple note and not much else going of flavorwise.
2.5 Found this to be very smooth and inoffensive. Not a go-to, but really not bad.
3.4 Apart from a bread smell there is nothing to talk about. Golden light beer with a nasty aftertaste than only those who are not into craft beer like.
1.4 Bottle sample at Top of the Hops Biloxi. Extremely pale yellow color, white coca cola head. Light cereal aroma. Taste is watery.
1.7 Bottle at some chill Japanese place in DC. Straw gold with a small head. Nose is bread, candy corn, light candy corn and syrupy. Pretty lightweight stuff. Flavor of apple fizz, honey. Water. Nothing to this.
1.7 355ml bottle, produced in the us by ABInbev. pale color. Almost no smell. lgiht water and spice. Light flavor, easily crushable, not good.
1.8 Bottle->shaker at a Thai restaurant. Pale gold with light white head. Corn, rice, some malt. Watery and bland, but was OK with spicy Thai.
2.5 Bottle. Pours to a golden body with a starch white head. Aroma is cereal and flaked corn and rice. Crisp light lagered beer. Flavor is clean lager and pairs well with the sushi. Light rice. Lower corn taste than most. Crisp palate.
2.5 29 mar 2014, bottle. Light yellow, clear, some steady bubbles. Nose is sweet straw malt. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Slightly dry, some soft banana, corn. Meh.
1.6 Aroma: Sweet Corn Appearance: Clear Golden Hue, Passes Lots of Light, White Head, No Lacing Taste: Sweet Corn, Mild Grainy Malt, Water Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Watery
3.5 Kirin Light (3.2% alcohol by weight) has a thin, white head, a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, and not a whole lot of lacing left behind on the sides of the glass. The aroma is faint, but one does detect sweet grains and some malt. Taste is of sweet barley malt, standard beer flavor, some mineral water notes, and a touch of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Kirin Light finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. Overall, for a beer, it is good, and for a light beer it is most excellent. No off smell or tastes, whatsoever. RJT
1.3 Bomber shared at an Asian American fusion restaurant. Pretty bad. Don’t think I’d get this one again.
1.3 Poured from a cold bottle. Light clear yellow color, looks like ginger ale. Mild hops smell. Watery taste, very little flavor
1.7 Clear pale golden color with a thin and fizzy white head that evaporates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grain and corn. Light-bodied with flavors of grainy malt and slight earthy hops. The finish a little metallic with a grainy aftertaste. Below average overall.
1.9 good aroma, golden in color with nice head. balanced taste but a little light in flavor.
1.6 bottle. Pale straw with small head. A slightly fancy version of beer flavored water.
1.2 12 oz. bottle. Poured a very pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild with a touch of corn. Taste is weak with a hint of malt.
2.0 Bottle to pint (ordered by my wife and ticked by me). Looks fine; a transparent light gold with white lacing. Smells and tastes of light corn (tastes blander though) with an average light mouthfeel. Volleyball beer.
2.6 Smells like "beer" but tastes and feels more like "beer" flavored carbonated water. I usually think of "imported" (yes I know its technically made in the US) versions of American adjunct lagers as being a bit more refined or at least palatable, but this one is not much better than a Coors Light... maybe less agressive carbonation.
1.7 Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light gold with a small white head. Very light bready aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is very clean - like barley flavored water. I can only imagine the hops. So this is more or less what our troops used to get. Poor bastards.
1.3 Bottle. Bought this mostly so I could knock it off the list and help me towards my Untappd badge. This is a typical cheap watered down export lager. Very watery, not very tasty.
1.7 Pours a clear light yellow with aroma of slight corn. Taste is light and bubbly, minimal flavor. This beer is not complex at all, its your tyoical light beer just with an asian theme.
