2.8This is a medium-bodied dark beer with an oily aroma. It has a somewhat metallic flavor that has malty nut tendencies.
3.0Kind of disappointing. Nose of heavy sweet malts, but the body seemed thin. Good hop presence, and flavor is of roasted malts. Finish is hot somehow (only 4%!), and not unpleasant but kind of metallic. Weird beer.
3.0From a 12 oz bottle this poured a chocolate brown with a small and quick fading light tan head and minimal lacing. Mouthfeel is medium and fairly smooth. Nose roasted malts, and some roasted nuts. Flavor is of burnt malts and some chocolate. Sweet finish.
2.5Ahh, yes. Malty, mild chocolaty wet wood aroma. Brown, like rootbeer without any red tinge. The wet wood carries over to the flavors. Also has wet leather on the palate. Metallic at times with a weird unhopped savory finish. Interesting and unique, nice brew, rather enjoyable.
3.0pours out a dark brown color with nearly no head. aroma is malty and grainy. flavor is not bad. has a roasted malt backbone with a bit of sweetness
2.4Sparkling brown, fast fading tan head.Acidic malt nose.Brown sugar sweetness, somewhat astringent, not a great effort
3.1This ok but not really my favourite style. It is very dark brown, almost black with a thin foamy top and ring, not a real head. The aroma is burnt sugar, beans, slightly sour plums, and brown bread. The taste is burnt bread, old plums, a little chocolate, hints of earth & burnt sugar. It’s mostly a bit sweet with a light sourness and light burnt bitterness. The finish is more interesting with a light spice and pepper quality. It also has a quality of old root beer mixed with burnt toast, which seems kind of normal for old-fashioned, low-ABV dark beers (like mild, too). It’s easy to drink and rather light, while at the same time having an active palate and subtle complexity but doesn’t seem that great, unlike their premium lager/14 svetly.
2.5Bottle 500 ml
Appearance: Brown cola like appearance with fairly fine top. Light fragmental lace noted.3+
Nose : Sweet nose , mainly consisting of brown sugar , some toffee and cocoa.6+
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied, perhaps slightly on thin side. Flat brown malt interpretation, slightly moldy, earthy chocolate like brew. Boring and flat.
3.5Thanks to EDA for sharing this one. Vegetal, celery and clay, and a husky malt at the fore. A lack of carbonation makes this a real easy drinker, with a warm maltiness, waffles and mint. Lots of different and tasty flavors coming through in this one definitely made it a winner for me. Mike dumped his but I gladly finished off the bottle.
2.2bottle. vanilla, cinnamon, cola--more "winter" than the winter brew. Forgetable for me.
2.4Bottle. Beer is total butter in the aroma. Taste has some licorice and once you get past the butter theres a decent amount of roasty malts and chocolate.
2.9clear reddened brown medium small head. caramel roasted chocolate aroma. thin but slightly syrupy body. very sweet overall flavor, toffee and light chocolate notes, bready and a light spicy anise note. the sweetness seemed to be a little one dimensional.
3.0Dark reddish brown, moderate head with decent lacing and retention. Aroma is toffee, caramel, hint of chocolate. Medium to light body, fairly sweet. Decent.
3.3Bottle from City Beer, SF. Pours mahogany with medium beige head, slight lacing. Aromas is sweet, almost cloying even, toffee, very mild dusty yeast scent and raw dark rye dough. Flavor is soft bread, lightly sweet, vanilla, cookie dough. Mildly bitter finish with czech herbal hop flavors, hop oil and doughiness in the aftertaste.
2.3far too sweet and caramelly for me, needs some hop presence. but, i’m not much for dunkels
3.2Interesting taste to this one. It was almost like it was completely missing the hops (and limited alcohol) and that missing flavor was filled in with a yeasty tinge. Otherwise, this brew was decidedly malty. A definite change from the norm.
3.3Poured a dark color. Smooth beer, tasted of chocolate matls. The only negative aspect was the slight yeasty taste. Overall a decent beer.
1.9Pours a dark color with a red hue. Small of white haed with no lasting power. Aroma is grossly sweet. Almost tastes like flat cola. Just terrible.
3.416.9 oz. bottle. A red brown color with a tan head that fades quickly. Sweet, sweet smell of vanilla, almonds, and caramel. Creamy mouthfeel with decent carbonation; light to medium bodied.
Taste is yeasty, malty sweet with vanilla and a banana-raison bread flavor.
This is dessert in a bottle. july 2004
3.0Pours dark brown with ruby hues and a mostly receding light tan head. Aroma of toffee, syrup, plums. Taste is brown malt, chocolate, raisins, and sweet bread. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, cloyingly sweet with moderate carbonation. Sweet and lightly malty dunkel, could use more complexity.
2.912 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Fort Lauderdale, FL. $1.49 Just average.
2.9(Bottle) Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Roasted toffee and coffee aroma. Taste is pretty malty, but a little bit astringent. Sweet and syrupy... especially towards the end. I didn’t hate it, but I do think they could have done better.
3.2Draught at BBF07. Had it down as 4.8%, but the ratings of this one resembles my notes better than those of the 11° which is 4.3% anyway. OK roasted aroma. Dark brown colour. Stable tan head. The flavour is quite sweet with some brown sugar and without much bitterness. On the sweet side, but pleasant enough.

3.2Bottle. Moderate malt notes of raosted and nutty, no noticable hops, and maybe earth for the yeast. In the background there is either vanilla or black pepper. Head is bubbly white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is a clear dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic and finishes lightly sweet and a touch bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a soft carbonation. Really nothing outstanding but a good drinking beer to go with pub food.
2.912 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Jacksonville. Pours a medium brown color with little if any head to it. Light malty aroma. Taste is malty with little or no character to it. Not bad, but nothing special about it.
0.8Bottle. Brown color - no head, poured flat. No identifying aroma. Watery buttery, sour banana. This beer clearly didn’t make the trip from Czech, to beer store, to my house without problems. It turned sour and flat along the way, probably. If this is how its sposed to be I’m flabbergasted. Will only try it again if I find myself in Czechoslovakia. Shame.
3.2Bottle. Poured soda brown with a thin tan lasting head. Sweet malty aroma. Flavour of malt, sugar, some chocolate. Mild unassuming finish with a bit of chocolate and hops. This is a good warm weather session lager.
2.5Classic dark czech lager. Big white head with reddish brown color. Aroma is a cross between nothing and cardboard. Taste makes up for lack of aroma, as is is smooth with a little sweetness. Very drinkable, but I just don’t like the aroma.
3.0500mL bottle. Rich dark brown color. thin tan head. Aroma of syrupy malts, hint of licorice. nice! Flavor of rich roasted malt sweetness. Slight herbal spice in the finish. medium bodied. Wish I had a plate of schnitzel in front of me!
