3.5 Bottle from Skjold Burne. Nice head with medium duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, caramel, coffee and hops.
3.7 2011 - 08 - 11 330ml bottle. black colour. creme head. nice dark taste, roasty coffee. alcohol not to present, would love to try the 10%
3.8 Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. DArk red-amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Chocolate coffee and bourbon? notes. Heavy bitter nice flavor. Strong chocolate and coffee notes. Long heavy bitter finish. Creamy palate.
2.9 roasty, coffee, black, hazy, minimal head, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation,
3.3 Naturally a very dark brown color, almost black. Smell roasted malts and coffee. Not the best stout I’ve had but decent.
3.4 After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was middle and even of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass. The beer has a teasty thick black color and a sweet taste. The after tast of the beer is hoppy bitter with a brandy malty touch . This beer smells caramelly.
3.4 Chocolate-vanilla aroma, slightly sour. High carbonation. Chocolate coffee Taste with roasted malts. Surprisingly good
3.6 Reddish black with an ok head. A bit simple, and not totally an imperial stout like I love them. Fruity, roasted, chocolate, caramel. A bit watery, not bad.
3.2 From Voldby, DK. Bottled, 140511. Dark brown with beige head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor with coffee, alcohol and some fruit
3.8 Bottle, thanks to Abio. Pours a dark brown to pitch black colour. Nose is coffee + liquor and a touch of crustaceans. Aroma is deeply roasted, strong freshly ground coffee beans & some blood in the finish. Very intense at first, with a long lasting roasted bitterness. Good they mention the hops at the label, but I found no trace of them while tasting. Overall powerful good stout.
3.5 Appearance: Very dark brown, almost black. Cloudy. Tan head. Aroma: Lots of dark malt, some coffee. Burnt. Some dark fruit, vinous. Taste: Burnt, roasted. Dark malt. Vinous, warming. Slight bitterness. Info: 330ml bottle, 23/4-2011
3.6 330 ml bottle. Pours a reddish brown colour with a foamy, lacy, light beige head. Aroma of sweet, light sour fruits with some lemon notes. Flavour of sweet fruits, raisins, toasted malts, syrup and some yeast notes. Medium bodied with a dry, slightly roasty, fruity and mild spicy finish. Average IS.
3.2 Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a large, soft tan head leaving some lacing. Aroma: roasted, vinous, buttery. Taste: fruity, medium bitter, red wine, sawdust, slightly off butter, roasted malt, some chocolate, dry finish. Pretty full-bodied and soft. Not that great.
3.0 Deep brown-black pour with a tan head. The nose is slightly herbal with a soft dusty cocoa aroma. A little bit of cherry fruitiness and black pepper. Not at all roasty - sort of a savoury character. Comes across like a light, attenuated stout with some lingering herbal flavour. It’s odd.
3.3 Bottle. Dark brown, average and mostly lasting light brown head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel and berries, some roasted malt and chocolate, some acidity. Moderate malty and sweetish flavor, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, chocolate and coffee. Sweetish imperial stout with lots of dark chocolate and coffee, too sweet for me.
3.0 Bottle 750 ml Aroma straight soy sauce, slight sourness, yeasty, gum and alcohol. Appearance dark thick haze on brown , bright , light top. 3+ Flavor and Palate : Full bodied. Pretty lifeless. Chocolate, roasted barley , soy sauce. Finishing with more of chocolate character. Light dryness of alcohol.
2.7 Black with no head, however lace rings. Sourish taste, not very drinkable. Less than average mouthfeel for an RIS, this is not a bad porter though the significant is there. Yet not tasting infected. More a story of must be drunk fresh.Crushinator’s bottle.
3.1 Bottle at home. Clear dark brown with a creamy, light brown head. Aroma heavy malty (hard roasted, light vinous, burned). Flavor heavy sweet. Full-bodied, lot’s of alcohol present.
3.2 750 ml. bottle. Served at cellar temperature. Pours a minimal head over a dark brown (SRM 30) clear body....nose is caramel/toffee, heavy cocoa, chocolate, light yeast, light beef....taste is heavy cocoa, bit of toffee/caramel finishing with a minimal mild bitterness...mouth feel is medium (too light for an Imperial), carbonation almost zero. This bottle had been miss handled given the almost flat nature of the beer. That said, this is a very simple Imperial Stout with light aromas and flavors of the beef, yeast, dried fruit the best of the style have in abundance. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6
3.6 Very dark brown, medium dense head. Cream, caramel, spices, but not very strong. Feels fluid and bitter at first, but quickly more sweet and with some creamyness. Pretty nice, but underdeveloped. (2,25 EUR, 33cl bottle)
3.5 11th October 2007 Warning! Early amateur rating! Complex thickish palate stout. A sweet note to start, followed by malt and caramel. Minerals. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Nice.
3.0 Pours brown with a large lightbrown head. Aroma is roasted barley, light chocolate and a fruity note. Flavour is roasted barley, malt acidic, chocolate and fruit.
3.4 Bottled. Pours clear, deep brown with a red glow and a huge, fluffy, tan head. Fair and irregular lacings. Nose of burned malts. Soft carbonation. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, liquorice and with dark, fruity notes. Oily/creamy texture. More dry and slightly bitter finish. I’m rather handicapped by a heavy cold, but I think it’s OK.
3.0 Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Very dark brown pour with a thin tan rim of head. Sweet fruity aroma with damson and booze notes. Sweet and rather acidic flavour with roasted malt notes that was pretty unusual and not really a great example of the style. Somewhat of a let down and didn’t really dig this.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a black body with an off white head. Malty chocolate tones light coco body with a hint of cream. Medium body with a milkshake esk sweetness and a mild warming. Decent stout.
2.8 Bottle. Pours brownish black. Thin head. Low carbonation. Nose of prune, cereal grain, raisin, malt and light cocoa. Taste is mostly dark fruits and light chocolate malts - slightly roasted. Thin body for an imperial stout.
3.5 sample during a beer tasting at ABCBeers. My favourite KD beer and my favourite beer style :-)
3.5 Bottle at a tasting at Paul’s place. Pours a thin looking hazed brown to black with a thin beige head. Plums and roast on the nose. Body is a bit thin, light spicy booze, roast and chocolate. More chocolaty roast, and slow warming alcohol on the finish.
3.8 Bottle: Big light brown foamy head. Dark amber to black beer color. Smell sweet, light roasted malts, light coffee and spices. Luckily taste is better than smell: pretty thick and refreshing coffee taste with hints of roasted malts, brown sugar, spices and dark fruits. Slight bitter turns more bitter and grassy to the end.
