Pours cloudy dark brown to black with a lasting, big, frothy, beige head; some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee roast, peanut & walnut, faint fondant, burnt caramel, ash. it tastes light malty sweet, some toast & coffee with a nutty back, and light roasted bitter; hint of sourish dark fruit. Dryish, rather short, toasty finish, lingering malt, coffee & nuts. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite good, yet a bit thin.
3.4Bottle from a Shop in Bamberg. DARK reddish, nearly black in color. Small slighty Brown head. Aroma is roasty with little caramel. Light Body, some roast bitterness and a good hop balance leading to a dry and refreshing finish. Very good

3.3From tap at Klosterbräu, Bamberg. Aroma is softly roasted dark malt with notes of chocolate and mocha. Mild sweet flavour with an above moderate roasty bitterness. Body is almost medium. A fine Schwarz with a good roasted malt aroma, some chocolate.

3.9On tap at Klosterbrau, Bamberg, 4.10.17. Clear dark brown with a cream-colored head. Slightly nutty, a little dry, full malty aroma. Sweet malty and slightly dry taste, some coke, but just lightly and in a good way. Light-to-medium body, fine fizz, roasty and dry finish.
2.8Optisch wunderbar, etwas loser Schaum. In der Nase kaum auszumachen. Im Trunk derb Röstmalz, leicht angebrannter Toast, dunkle Schoki, süffig, hinten matt herb. Interessant.

Pours hazy copper with nice tan head, creamy, moderate retention,some good lacing. Roasty, coffee, licorice nose. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is some bitter, oasty, dark licorice. Smooth and enjoyable.

BB 25.12.2016. brown color, small off-white head. smells of caramel, spices, plums, a bit musty, light cardboard, decent smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of earthy, light caramel, light tobacco, spices, lightly breadish, some cocoa powder. finishes rather balanced with light earthy and cocoa powder notes. overall decent and drinkable.
3.8Tap at the brewpub. Beautiful roast aromas. If the body weren’t so light, I would bet this was a stout. Liquorice, roasted nuts. Round and balanced. Rustic. Yum.

Tiny and short light grey head. Clear dark brown color. Sweet light roasted malt aroma. Mild roasted malt taste with low to medium bitterness and small residual sweetness. To mild roasted malts for a Schwatzbier.
3.2Tap at the brewery. Served from a stone mug. Brown color with beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa powder. Taste is roasted malts, milk chocolate. Natural carbonation. Quite nice!

3.0Bottle courtesy of Zdk. Pours a deep brown body with white lacing. Mouthfeel is thin with ntoes of sweet roast, nuts, grains and dark fruits. Decent Schwarz.
4.0Bottle. Clear red brown color, fine white head. Delightful nutty toffee aroma. Taste is balanced light sweet and medium bitter. Sweet chocolate aftertaste, roasted nuts. Thin texture, low carbonation. Great Schwarzbier!
