Knee Deep Breaking Bud IPA

Knee Deep Breaking Bud IPA

Old school meets new school in this fresh approach to the classic IPA. At 50 IBU’s and 6.7% ABV, Breaking Bud features the restrained bitterness and alcohol of a classic IPA with newer tropical fruit hop flavors and aromas of Mosaic. Also in the hop mix are Simcoe and CTZ, creating layers of mango, passion fruit, pine and dank. A malt bill with a pinch of crystal malt and a hefty dose of flaked wheat keeps the beer crisp while adding flavor complexity. Cheers to the past, present and future!

4.3 Like opening a fresh bag of weed. Smell is scotch tape and cannabis. Pours clean with a lot of head that dissipates. Finishes clean. Like it!
3.7 16 oz can from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA The ale poured a clear amber color with a white foamy head and lacing. This is a fun basic IPA. There is hop bitterness, not a NEIPA. The aroma of citrus and hints of pine resin greet you. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. After each swallow, you enjoy hop bitterness in the upper mouth. Well done for my 2600Th.
3.8 Can. Clear golden, white head. Aroma has grapefruit, sweet goose berries, caramel, peach. Grass, peach and grapefruit flavour. Light caramel. Slightly rough citrusy, tea-ish finish. Nice.
3.8 หอมขมกำลังดี กินได้เรื่อยๆ
3.2 One dimensional. Grapefruit rind and dankness. Clear golden pour. Thick scattered white lace. Just ok.
3.5 Clear gold, vigorous bubbles, tall head. Medium body, moderately flavorful, smooth texture, highly carbonated but discrete mouthfeel heat, average length. Bitter, dry, crisp. Hoppy, greens, yeasty. Not very flavorful to my taste.
3.4 Fruity flavors with bitter finish. Every time I see the can I can't help but think about the Breaking Bad main characters. Good beer!
4.2 酒体偏浑浊;气味是轻微的花香;味道苦,花香,味道整体性很强
3.7 Pint can. Dank pine aroma with notes of passion fruit, mango and grapefruit. Pours clear golden colored with a large tan head that has excellent retention, but little lacing. Starts with mango and passionfruit flavors as well as a little bit of grapefruit. Finishes dry with dank grapefruit and pine resiny hop flavors that linger on the palate after each sip. Pretty good ipa.
3.6 On tap at Yard House Marina del Ray. A bit hazy light orange with a small white head. Aroma and taste of citrus, resin, some hay and malt. The body was medium as was the bitterness. A decent one.
3.6 (tap) clear, bright yellow colour with a small white head; aroma of tropical fruit; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish
3.7 Draft. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate tropical hop balanced aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. This beer met my expectations.
3.7 Pours a vibrant gold with a foamy, stable white head. Nose is heavy dank, citrus. The malts come through on the crisp feel...fresh toasty grain, light summer fruits. Pretty decent.
3.7 Pours a deep golden color with a decent head with some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus and grain. Taste of grapefruit, citrus, light malt sweetness and bit of grain. Medium body, crisp and refreshing. Easy drinker.Tasty.
2.7 473 ml can bought at City Super in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. Looks: Clear dull golden colour; Three-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with active slight carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with cat piss, passion fruits, mangoes, light peaches, tangerines, floral, sugar, spices, pine, strong resins, biscuits, lemon and grass. Taste: Close to medium sweet fair Ale malt, with strong wheat, light tartness, melon, very light grapefruits, floral, light sugar, spices, pine, resins, biscuits, lemon, medium bitter hops and grass. Body: Mid to light body. Fairly slick palate. Mouth Feel: Fair Ale maltyness in a runny background, with serious wheat thinning very much in evidence. Hoppy non-sweet melons with thin grapefruits. Flowery with fair sweetness. Spicy piney light oozy with lemon to round. Lame! Hoppiness: Cat piss, passion fruits, mangoes, light peaches, tangerines, floral, spices, pine, strong resins, lemon and grass in nose. Melon, very light grapefruits, floral, spices, pine, resins, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is for fairly strong for a lasting, medium astringent bitter-sweet light Ale malty finish. After Taste: Fairly dry. Piney melon and fairly bitter to mouth. Comments: This one got pretty impressive Simcoe hops aroma, but the taste is like a re-visit of Slooow Mo but only worse, with thinned out malt and Mosaic's weak bitterness which exposed the short end of this half-arsed brew. No thanks!
3.6 16 oz can, dated 10/10/18. Pours clear orange gold with a big fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass. The aroma is sweet bready malt with lots of very dank and resiny hops. The flavor is sweet bready malt with lots of dank resiny hops and a little fruit. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation. Overall, malty, dank and resiny IPA.
3.6 Pours deep golden to amber, a finger of white head with nice lacing. Aroma is floral, piney and tropical with a citric note. Tastes medium bitter, caramel malts, biscuits and strong hop juice with mango, grapefruit, pine and a long bitter herbal finish. Medium bodied, crisp and smooth, nice classic IPA. Globalization of IPA is here. But it isn't a bad thing. Just.. nothing new!
3.2 Grassy and hoppy on the nose and in taste. Barely there citrus notes. Pretty good but I’d skip it for many other choices.
3.7 Bottle at home. Pours hazy orange with a large, frothy and rocky off-white head, medium retention with some lacing. Heavy tangerine and ruby red grapefruit hops and heavy hop bitterness, medium malt supports the hops and provides some sweetness to keep the hops at bay, and a dry finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation.
3.8 On tap at Hops & Pie. Clear, deep golden appearance with a beige head and light lacing. Aroma of zesty hops, tropical fruit, mild pine, light floral notes and light toasted malt. Similar flavor, adding moderate hop bitterness and balanced by a light grainy sweetness. Medium body with a light resinous hop finish. Nice.
3.4 Rated on 10-22-2018 at 6 Autumns Food & Spirits, Angola, IN. The appearance of this canned beer is a small lightly foamy off-white head that mostly diminished, lightly hazy golden body, very little carbonation observed, and no lacing. The aroma is dank, mango, citrus, fruity, hoppy, and pale malt. The flavor presents light bitterness, dank, mango, fruity, very hoppy tasting, and pale malt. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and clean. This beer is medium-full bodied. This beer is too dank tasting for my liking and it turned me off about this beer. It is a beer that I will not drink again.
3.6 A 1 pint can, canned on 20th July 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. It was a clear golden colour with a just over two finger white head that had good retention and left some nice lacing. Aromas of sweet biscuit malt, pineapple, pine, melon, mandarin peel and tea leaves. Considering the aroma, tastes seems to be a bit lacking. Biscuit malt, light to moderate bitterness, pine, grass, light tropical fruit. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, this was ok. Aroma was great, but taste just didn’t quite match up to it as some of the nice fruit aromas just didn’t translate.
3.7 Bottle sample. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have citrus and tropical fruit, pale malts, mango, resin, earthy hops, some dank notes, moderate bitterness, good.
2.7 Can. Hy-Vee Oktoberfest 2018. Pour was golden, foamy white head. Aroma of body odor, grassy. Taste was bitter, green, grassy hops.
3.6 Can from Brewcraft, drank at home after Tai Tam Mound Waterfall. Pours a clear orange-amber with a foamy white head. Smells of crystal malt, passionfruit, orange peel and lightly grainy hop. Taste is very deeply bitter, resinous and grassy, but a bit empty. Ends on slightly spiced lightly frothier note, bit of cold pavement / white board marker pen. Body is slick, bitter. Decent, taste has big bitterness but not enough flavour.
3.4 Can from Brewcraft at home. Nearly clear golden slightly orange pour. Aroma is light pale/pilsner malt, light citrus hop. Taste is similar. Strong bitterness but not huge amount of flavor. Straw, grass, light pine, smooth golden malt. Tasty but not as interesting or big as I’d hoped for. Disappointing.
3.9 Pint, Jack's Cannery. Clear deep gold, thin head. Huge hop aroma, pine, citrus. Full on hop led dry IPA, classic stuff, so drinkable. Big deep citrus bitter taste. Great.
3.6 1us pint can @ Beijing China bbf unknown
3.8 Pours light amber / orange with a significant haze. World class head volume and retention. Lacing is normal. Rich quite outstanding nose. Orange, pineapple, tangerine, a hint of mango and a subtle dank note round out the hops. The base is slightly malty but comes across crisp rather than bready or doughy. There is a pine aspect but you have to search for it. This is a tropical hop forward brew in the nose. The body is medium and subtly smooth. The carbonation / body balance is outstanding. Mid-palate effervescence tickles while the finish delivers a finely bubbled prickly kick but not quite a rush. The flavor profile is very good but lacks the complexity of the aroma. The dank pine aspects are much more evident in the moderate bitterness. The middle has just enough sweetness to let the tropicals emerge but not enough for complete separation. The result is a tropical fruit blend of flavors - tasty, but not really flavor distinctive. After the fruits fade, a mild zest afternote leads into the finish. There pine remerges and lingers.
