3.9 On tap at apex. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. A big sweet fruity resin hop nose. The flavor is big resin, oranges, sugary sweet, pine. Huge. Hot. Gin alcohol burn. Good.
4.1 25th August 2015 Bright clear gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Nose of pine and resin. Palate is light and semi dry, good fine carbonation. Light malt base with equally light sweetness. Big hop spice. Resinous orange, marmalade, mild lemon. More hop spice. Touch of crystallised fruits. More hops spice. Tropical fruits emerge. More hop spice. Light hop skunk before light and hop spicy finish. Spicy tangerine linger. It’s a real gob full of spicy hop goodness but it always stays light and supremely drinkable. Hides the abv very well. Excellent.
4.2 650ml bottle Pours dark orange with a foamy head. Aroma of chewy caramely malts, loads of dank wet herbal hops, resin, grass and toffee. Taste is juicy, hoppy and dank wet herbal with loads of resin, grass, malts, caramel and pine. Finish is massively hoppy and resinous with some grass, pine and herbal notes. Quite hoppy.
4.1 65 cl bottle @ hotel room, Los Angeles. Pours clear copper color with a large head. Awesome hoppy aroma, resin, caramel sweetness, just dank. A bit juicy flavor, pineapple, oranges, mango, caramel malt, resin and faint piney tones. Quite balanced and very tasty. 5516
4.3 650 ml bottle. Enjoyed at Los Angeles, CA. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber colour with a small head. Aroma is really, really dank with fresh floral notes, weed and citrus. Flavour is extremely juicy with fresh citrusy hops, mild herbal notes, grapefruit, mango, toffee, weed and biscuit. Full bodied. Nice hoppy burbs. Very fresh and dank. Impossibru to complain.
3.8 65 cl bottle @ hotel room, Los Angeles. Bottled 31.03.2015. Aroma has fruit candy, tropical fruits and some pineapples. Flavour has sweet pineapple juice, tropical fruits, some fruit candy and biscuity malt. Finishes with biscuity malt and menthol.
4.4 Poured from the bomber into a snifter. Orange pour with a cream colored head. Aroma has some light grainy malt followed by mostly floral hops. Flavor is similar with some caramel malt sweetness at the start followed by a big dose of hops. There's some citrusy notes in the background but a lot of pepperiness and some piney notes towards the finish. Medium bodied with a long spicy finish. Hoppy for sure, but really surprisingly balanced and very drinkable for the ABV. Really good brew as I've come to expect from Knee Deep.
4.3 On tap at ABV Pub in Hillsboro, OR. HUGE orange citrus aroma. My wife hates beer, but she was with me the night I first tried this. It smelled so good, I asked her just to smell it. She liked it so much she took a sip, wrinkled up her nose, and declared it the most vile thing she had ever tried. It is very bitter at first but on adjusting to it, it tastes of orange candy and citrus. Medium mouthfeel and bitter finish. Full-flavored and quite delicious. Only for the committed hophead.
3.4 Bottle..Pour is golden with a small white head..Nose is pine, pineapples, brash, hop spice..Taste is brash, pine, citrus, hot, bitter..
3.7 Bomber I bought online .. . Pours a deep amber.. Great foam .. The mouth is a bit lacking for this type of beer .. . Resin, fruit skin, grass, and more dirty resin .. Pretty good, the hops do make this a share type beer .. . . Where’s my salted roll?
3.6 Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Some haze in this honey golden beer. A three finger off white head leaves nice lacing. The aroma is full of tropical and citrus fruit but is also distinct. First sip screams monster ABV. Huge fruit flavors and pale malts that almost match up. Very little bitterness. Midway through the hops gains some freshness as in dry hopping. On each sip I suck in fruit on the intake of breath and then taste even more. And that fruit is pretty darned tasty. The finish is really hot. So much alcohol and it ended like a high gravity bomb, but a really fruity one. Wow. What an experience.
3.9 Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a white head. Hop, citrus, pine, caramel and biscuit aroma. Hop, orange, mango, peach, biscuit and pine flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly oxidized. Hop and citrus finish.
3.4 On tap at PreFunk Boise clear light Orange Amber with just a scant off white head. Decent tropical fruity hop flavors, clean and strong. Finishes well. The 11% is a bit surprising.
4.8 super amazing delicious beer. Highly recommended. I am not usually a fan of triple ipas. This one is far superior to most
3.6 Malty-resinous nose with some butterscotch and alcohol hotness. Bitter with a backbone of malty sweetness. Full creamy-oily body and a bitter finish. Lacks noble hop flavor and the complexity I’d want to see in a beer of this strength. To be fair, this was bottled 9.7.14 and I’m drinking it 2.7.15, so some of the best hop flavor might have faded. Nevertheless, an enjoyable imperial IPA. P.S., another bottle drunk a bit younger also lacked a true noble hop flavor, I guess that’s the way it is with this one ....
3.9 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours golden amber, the taste is very bitter, soft fruit and toffee.
4.0 The aroma is caramel, hop forward, citrus. The appearance is amber white head. The flavor is caramel, citrus, pine. The finish is citrus, pine, strong and enduring, and astringent. Medium/thick to thick in body. Excellent.
4.6 APPEARANCE - Clear orange with 1-finger head that dissipates. Light lacing. AROMA/SCENT - Hoppy, piney. Not sweet. TASTE - Hoppy, dry, ABV well-hidden. MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Pleasant, dry, a bit of carbonation. VALUE - Reasonable. OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - Great beer, almost chuggable.
3.4 Draught. Clear rich yellow with small, white foamy head, floral hops aroma, low carbonation, very smooth lavender-like flavor. long finish. Nice brew
3.8 Draft at Imbibe wine. Nose is mango and orange caramel candies. Lightly hazy gold with a medium off white head. Flavor is light sweetness and contrasting bitterness over the malty background.
3.6 Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 10/5/14 Aroma: The nose is resin/weed hops, some grapefruit as well, and some sweet caramel malts Appearance: It pours a deep orange color with a small, bubbly off-white head and medium lace Flavor: Tastes more grapefruit than resin, and sweet malt, hop bitterness is less strong than expected Palate: It is fairly full bodied, has a stickiness to it, a little heat, and a somewhat dry finish Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid IIPA, but not a great one. Tasted a little faded, I’m not sure how old this bottle was (purchased less than a week ago), but this one didn’t seem extremely fresh. It is still pretty bitter, but I was expecting over-the-top / in-your-face hops. Still solid, but it sounded better than it tasted. Edit: The bitterness and booze come out as it warms to room temperature. Doesn’t change my score. There’s still something missing that keeps me from going onto the Higher 3s - Low 4s range.
3.1 22oz bottle picked up at BevMo Pours slightly hazy brown/golden with a medium sized beige head, good lacing. Aroma is malty and pine resin. Taste is sweet, caramel, malty and pine resin I would say this is old, but the bottle date is 6/03/14 (4 months). Not a fan of this one. But I am a fan of Knee Deep beers, most are solid and hoppy.
4.6 A hazy orange beer with off-white foam. Pine and citrus with caramel accents. The body is more of a medium and the carbonation is just right. Definitely not the full review. Oh no...
4.0 "Agreed. Big pine, herbal and citrus notes in the flavor and aroma. Medium to full bodied as a little sticky. More than adequately bitter. Good stuff fresh..."
3.4 From bomber to tulip. Have tried this a couple of times and I don’t think this holds up to their other beers. A little too much on the maltiness, syrupy, and bitterness. Of course that is expected from a triple, but it could still balance better. Lots of pine and resin is nice.
4.5 Knee Deep Brewing Co.11.3%. Fait pas son %. Cochon. Forte amertume. Sèche en finale. Caramel. Pêche. Pamplemousse. Tire. Liquoreux. Très amère.
3.8 Tap @ Jernigan’s. Another singing blast of bitter and booze, yet a bit lighter all around that Hoparillo. Still a fantastic TIPA, but I’ll take the other option for more intensity.
3.2 Draft at brewery. Lots of sugar and a citrus/orange aroma in the nose. Flavor is pretty much identical, moderately sweet with a bit of alcohol noted. ok, but I like Simtra better I think.
3.6 On draft at Tap 25. It pours a clear light gold color with a white head. The aroma has bright lemon and orange with hints of tropical fruit and florals. The flavor is spicy, fruity and floral with touches orange oil cleaner and malt. The body is full and oily on the palate. The finish has strong, but not oppressive bitterness and noticeable alcohol. Similar to Simtra in it’s brutish assault, but overall pretty enjoyable.
4.1 Thanks to jimiantz for this. Pours hazy reddish gold with a small white foamy top and good lacing. Reader beware, I am drinking this past an "acceptable" age for a DIPA. Hops are still very prevalent in this. Aroma is a wall of centennial pine and quite dank. Taste is again a blast of hops, thick and resinous. I could only imagine this fresh, it would blow your mind. Obvious overage on the hop bitterness but still tons of sweet malt and caramel that tries to accomodate for the intense hop additions. Solid beer.
