3.4 Citrus and pine aroma. Light amber with small bubbles. Too light up front transitions to a small citrus. Medium long taste on tongue but fades into some bitterness on edges of tongue. This lasts so finish is not a pleasant ending.
3.6 Sample on tap at I'm happy. Thin white head. Clear golden pour. Lovely hoppy aroma and bitterness. Very good.
4.6 Citrus and piney. Added punch of 8.0% A must for hop lovers.
3.1 0. 65 l bottle from Pivoteka . Big tasting #2. Hazy golden, small off-white head. Toasty malts, lightly hops. Earthy, leaves. Dry, boring. Medium body alcohol hidden, light finish.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy amber with medium off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, hops, caramel, pine, orange and grapefruit. Flavour is malt, fruit, hops, caramel, pine, orange, grapefruit, sweet and bitter.
3.5 Bottle. Golden color. Oily grassy aroma with herbal hops And a hint of mango. Malty sweet flavor, herbal with tea leaves, ripe mango and citrus. Hops may have faded a little, but still a very nice beer.
4.0 Pours clear light copper with a small white head. Lacy. Nose is clean pine, citrus. Taste is pine, citrus, resin, some sweetness. Dry west coast DIPA. Solid.
4.0 Copper to golden color with white head. Piney resinous floral hop bouquet and flavor. Slight dankness. Notes: on tap at 595 Craft and Kitchen, Oct '17
3.7 Poured from a bottle into a tulip. Golden orange with a moderate white head that quickly dissipates and laces the glass. Aroma is rather fruity with pine in the background. Aggressively bitter, lively on the palate. A little alcohol comes through.
4.5 Very tasty and citrusy double IPA. Refreshing, strong taste (and high alcohol content) this is a beer with personality that is excellent on a warm day. ---Rated by Belgiandean
3.8 Initial malt but quickly balanced by pine, mild resin and hops. Dry finish, not sweet and, unfortunately not floral. Very nice but not the wow factor.
4.1 Aroma: tender mix of pine, grass, citrus and flowers Taste: sweet malt, citrus, notes of grapefruit and long lasting trail of grass. Well balanced and easy drinkable dipa. No hints of alcohol regardless it’s high ABV
3.9 I hesitated ordering this so early in the evening because, at 9%, there might be regrets later in the evening. I also hesitated ordering a second for the same reasons. But with a DIPA as good as Hoptologist, you just have to escort caution out the door and drink like you're twenty years younger. Tarry pine is most pronounced on the nose, reminiscent of wreaths or snowy stands of evergreens; however, grapefruit and some toffee are also present. With the first sip, you notice more pine from all of the hops, and this lingers just long enough for a crisp, bitter finish. With a second and third sip, you notice browned butter too, as well as a chewy mouthfeel. You have to search for the citrus, but it's there, on the fourth and fifth sips. And as for the twelfth plus sips, regrets be damned!
4.0 bomber pour in myrtle beah condo. super piney flavors and aroma. super hoppy but balanced off with the malt. this is jujst tasty on a hot day. really good.
3.9 Bottle in a tulip glass. Pours golden with a thick white head. Aroma is floral, lemon, grapefruit, and a tiny bit of malt. Initial taste is pine resin, floral hops, lemon, and a bit of booze. Bitter but not overpowering. Aftertaste lingers and is resiny but not unpleasantly bitter. Body is medium and carbonation is lively. When I see DIPA I always worry it will be a bitter bomb. This has character without absolutely obliterating you with hops.
3.4 Great floral hops smell, very bold floral hops taste...smooth and not too bitter! Good complexity and a bitter sweetness on finish...some light pepperyness
3.8 Mango, lillies, and pine nose. Clear amber, medium head, good lacing. Dry mango, then lillies. Medium body moderate carbonation.
4.2 Light amber; slightly cloudy; light carbonation. Crisp fresh aroma. Very balanced and crisp for being 102 IBU and 9% alcohol! Fresh, crisp, and balanced.
3.5 pours golden with white fluffy head. the aroma is grapefruit, citrus, some straw, and hay. slightly alittle grassy/earthy. The flavor is grapefruit, earthy, grassy, pungent resin, and pine throughout not much in regards to malt flavor other than slightly abit of caramel. body is medium hides the 9 percent well, but really no depth in flavor. bitterness has a bite more a the end. overall decent but does not really set it self apart from the world of DIPA’s today.
3.6 From a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours gold with head and lace. Aroma of grapefruit rind, grains, citrus zest, straw hops. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of grains, pale malt, straw hops, grapefruit rind, minerals, bitter herbs. Overall big, bold, a bit bitter but tasty for a bitter hop lover.
3.8 Bottle from 7/31/15. Aroma of belgian yeast with fruity alcohol scent. Pours amber and cloudy with dense white head that stays. Subtle hop bitterness blends with malt backbone. Not bad.
3.7 Pours amber with a sparse foam head. Aroma actually more malty than I thought, still some hop resins and slight skunk going around too. Fresh and herbal. Taste is also herbal and intensely resiny. Good stuff actually but for me the balance was better for some of their lighter IPA’s. Still a great beer and enjoying it a lot, nice hop fix!
4.1 Golden and clear with a soapy white foam. Aroma is floral with light tropical fruit. Hop bitterness is sharp but not acrid. Flavors of tangerine and grapefruit finishes quite dry and pleasant.
3.6 Tap at Harhor’s Anniversary Event. The color is copper, the aroma fruity then floral while the taste is cleanly bitter but old school IPA. I preferred Breaking Bud’s fruity hoppiness. Taste is between 7 and 8.
3.3 Bomber->Ocelot. Clear copper with huge offwhite head. A: wet hay, dank floral hops, caramel malt. Low. T: sharp caramel malt and floral hops, hay, moss. Eh.
3.8 Clear golden pour with a ring of clingy white that laces. Pine foremost on the nose and flavor with grapefruit rind coming in the finish to add a bitterness I’m not overly fond of. Finish is dry with lingering rind aftertaste. Starts okay, finish is too biting.
3.8 Pours hazy golden with a low white head and slightly oily lacings. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, grass, pine, kiwi. Taste is very fruity and somewhat bitter with light floral notes and some grassy notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
3.8 Pours hazy yellow with low white head Aromas hoppy of tropical fruits, resin, pine, caramel Taste has hoppy notes of tropical fruits, pine, resin, caramel
3.8 Deep golden, slight haze with a big white head. Piney aroma with a bit of citrus. A little sweet and citrusy up front, nice balanced bitter finish. I find the 102 IBU hard to believe.
2.4 Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma ws tart, chalky and dry with perfume and lemon. The flavor was bitter, tart and dry with herbal notes followed by a bit of tropical fruit and perfume. Long dry perfumey finish. Medium body. Alcohol well controlled. Pretty bad.
