4.1 Tons of vanilla and hints of chocolate in aroma. Taste is comprised of some milk chocolate and loads of almost cloying vanilla sweetness. Like drinking vanilla icecream, weird but cool!
3.8 Brown reddish color with tan head. Aroma is full-on vanilla ice cream with chocolate topping. Taste starts with chocolate, cacao and sweet finish. Body is quite light. Overall it’s quite nice and easy to drink.
3.5 Shared BOTTLE. Vanilla chocolate, cooking chocolate. Medium to thinnish body, more chocolate and light acidic hops. Ok-ish.
4.4 Nieprzejrzyście czarny. Piana beżowa, drobna, obfita. Aromat mocno waniliowy, skórzany. Intensywne nuty kakao. Pachnie intensywnie, lekko gorzakawo. Gorzka czekolada, W smaku znów gorzka czekolada i mocna wanilia. W odczuciu gładkie, lekko aksamitne.
3.8 deep dark amber pour, 2+ fingers of tan head. Nose is vanilla and caramel. Bittersweet. Middle is chocolate, some nuts, and vanilla bean driving the coach. Finish is bittersweet and smooth.
3.0 From notes. Enjoyed at Doug’s house on July 04 for the first beer I’ve brewed with him! 22 oz bottle. Finally got to open this damn thing. There was so much hope, and even more disappointment. The pour is a thin dirty dark brown color with a light tan colored film of head and no lace. The aroma is light on the vanilla. There is a strong sweetness to it, and a light dark roasted malt. I’m disappointed by the light vanilla and abundance of lactic sweetness. The flavor is just as sweet. There is a light chocolate with the roast, but it’s just forced, light, and obviously fake. The finish is really dry. The mouth feel is thin and watery with a lack of decent carbonation and a dry, roasty, forced cocoa on the finish. The vanilla isn’t even lingering. Ugh.
2.6 Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a medium sized fluffy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was roasty and bitter with floral hops and imitation vanilla. The flavor was bitter and harsh with imitation vanilla, cream, a bit of cocoa and fairly strong floral hops. Long finish. Medium body. Disappointing.
3.7 On tap at Brewski. A dark brew with a thin tan head. A bit of vanilla in the aroma that blends nicely with the dark malts on the palate for a fairly dry finish. An excellent porter.
3.0 Brown thin , beer with a thin head to match. Potent vanilla aroma and flavor. It’s almost too much. took an hour for a bomber.
2.9 Draft pour at The Collective. Dark brown pour with a fizz ring head. Vicious sweet aroma. Flavor is play dough. Super sweet. Chocolate, but too artificial. Not my type of porter, but could be much worse.
3.4 Tasty but vaguely disappointing because I love porters and vanilla so had high expectations this didn’t quite reach. A little too sweet and thin and not enough complexity.
3.8 Like used motor oil, opaque dark brown, nearly black. Has a puffy tan head, fades quickly, nice lacing. Has the very expected coffee and unsweetened baking chocolate scents. Hearty Porter taste and as advertised, coffee, chocolate & vanilla. Has a very nice bittersweet, or I should say, sweet then bitter flavor. I was hesitant about the vanilla, expecting a gimmicky artificial vanilla flavor but this is really good, I wouldn’t call it subtle but it is artfully balanced and enhances the Porter flavors instead of overwhelming them. Kudos to the lads at Knee Deep!
3.7 On tap at Gingerman after Comic Con. Pours a ruby to cola brown with a medium sized tan head. Chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, soft toast. Soft vanilla. Medium-bodied, smooth chocolate, cocoa, soft vanilla. Cocoa, toffee, lingering vanila.
3.2 22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Seems like a brown ale to me with vanilla flavoring. It’s not bad but I feel like the vanilla is not making it better just sweeter. Good enough though to make me want to try the imperial version.
3.4 Bottle. Pours almost black with small beige head. Aroma of vanilla and roasted malt. In taste sweet and roasty with rather sweet vanilla like finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth. Nice but to sweet for me.
3.9 Bomber. Pours black with a tan head and sweet vanilla, roasted malt aroma. Taste is full of vanilla, creamy with roasted malt and chocolate coffee notes into the finish. Delicious brew
3.9 With Z, a bomber, pours a rich deep black pour with an ephemeral Java head. Nose is sweet vanilla with rich malt . Taste is sweet vanilla with sweet malt and some hints of a mocha Java. Finishes on the light tasting notes, sweetly with a dry vanilla ending. Light and drinkable ! Quaff Score 8 / 10
3.6 Not enough vanilla flavor, more tobacco flavor. ---Rated via BeerBuddy for iPhone.
3.4 Black color with a light tan head with short duration. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, light coffee and chocolate. Flavor is slightly bittery, roasty, notes on vanilla. Mild creamy mouthfeel with vanilla notes in the final.
2.9 Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Clear dark brow with no head. Aroma is dark malt, medium body, low carbonation, and very little lacing. Taste is artificial vanilla and dark malt.
3.9 Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is s’mores, vanilla, kid’s chocolate breakfast cereal. Taste is the same with a creamy mouthfeel. Had this back-to-back with Mother Earth Cali Creamin (Vanilla Cream Ale) and both reminded me of kid’s breakfast cereal (without being overly sweet).
3.6 Bottle pour. Deep brown, thin head. The vanilla is surprisingly strong in the nose.Taste is much more balanced with coffee and chocolate in addition to the vanilla. Nicely sweet but not overpowering. Creamy mouthfeel, light-to-moderate body. Some bitterness in the aftertaste keeps the sweetness in check and round the beer out nicely. Nice treat for Halloween this year, almost felt like during a s’more’
3.5 Bottle from Brewers Haven. Dark brown with small foamy head. Immediate vanilla aroma, more in the taste, which also brings some cocoa and roast grain bitterness. Smells sweet, without being overly sugary. Bitterness lingers enough to kill any remnants of the perceived sweetness.
3.6 Bottle shared by someone Friday night, Thanks! Deep golden color with a small head. Huge vanilla on the nose masks most of the caramel and bready malt underneath. you could use this when baking but nice to sip on.
3.3 Creamy, smooth mouth feel with light cream head. Easy-drinking and intense vanilla and cocoa notes. Bitters chocolate but sweet finish. Mild body and loe hops bitterness let the vanilla and chocolate shine through. Would be great with ice cream.
3.7 Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of big vanilla, sweet chocolate, some brownie, touch of toffee, hints of spice, touch of roast. Taste was a mix of vanilla, cocoa, roast, hints of dark chocolate into some brownie, toffee, finishing sweet, slightly bitter.
3.3 On tap at The Ginger Man, NYC. A dark brown beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. The aroma is roasted and lightly nutty in the back, with lots of vanilla. Some chocolate too. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, some coffee and chocolate, even some roasted malts, and lots of vanilla that lasts forever. It’s medium to full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Overall, sure it’s nice, but there’s way too much vanilla going on. 150624
3.4 Bottle 65cl/ Botella 65cl. @ Irreale A: Dark brown / Marron oscuro. T/S: Roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, nuts / Malta tostada, chocolate, vainilla, nueces.
3.2 On tap. Sweet vanilla/white chocolate aroma. Classic dark porter appearance. Sweet vanilla flavour. Very malty with a sweet finish.
