4.1 I have purchased this bottle, at the sterk, Amsterdam, during the last year. Drinking and enjoying it at home, on saturday, at Epalinges. The liquid is black and opaque, white and brown foam. The carbonation is average and this imperial stout was delicious and powerful. The taste is smooth, the alcool is well hidden, you get notes of roasted malt, chocolate, little side of toffee, rather mineral and dry for the style, hop, good sensation in the palate.
3.5 On tap at White Stork, Republic, Sofia. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is weak sour dark malts. Taste is light sour dark malts, fruity dark ripe plums, lingering weak bitter finish
3.7 0.33 bottle @ British Club Black with a small, off-white head. Aroma of dark malts, coffee. Flavor introduces leather and roast. Full, creamy, soft. Chocolate and sweet malts towards the end. Overall, despite a terse rating, it is a very decent beer.
3.8 Pretty good and heavy stout made with ruby port by the guys of Kompaan. Hints of caramel and coffee.. Creamy mouthfeel... Good beer!
3.5 Bijna zwart van kleur. Heerlijke koffie en cacao tonen. Afdronk lang, gebrand en met een beetje peper. Bittertje had persoonlijk iets minder gemogen voor een mooie balans en het port mondgevoel.
4.2 Black with dark brown head - Dark roasted malt aroma - Dark malt body with some roasted notes and some wood flavours - The dark malt goes into the finish - This was real good
3.6 Donker stroopachtig schuimloos bier, ruikt zoet, koffie, caramel. Smaak zoet gebrande mout en lichte port smaak. Helaas iets bittere afdronk verder prima stout.
3.8 Bottle. Shared with the wife to commemorate our Bierhochzeit. Black with a lovely beige head. Aroma of dark chocoloate, espresso, chocolate pudding and red berries. Taste follows aroma plus fruity acidity and strong notes of Port. Alcoholic but balanced. Low to medium carbonation. Very nice and tasty.
3.7 Fles gekregen van Roelzie1986. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een dun laagje crème schuim. Het heeft een koffie achtige geur. De smaak is gebrand, drop en port achtig.
3.9 Roasty,
3.7 Restrained aroma in a jet black pour. Surprisingly light tart body and dry finish. Makes a nice change from the often too sweet imperial stout.
4.5 L: -pours the darkest of brown with no light coming through and a small to medium, frothy, khaki head S: -espresso,dark chocolate, nutty, slight cinnamon & nutmeg with a faint Wine-y sourness T: -Follows the nose + toast and sour cherries F: -medium carbonation -medium body -alcohol noticeable O: The added Port Wine doesn't bury the great Imperial Stout flavours. This is brewed the right way.
3.5 Bottle @ DØE Køge. Appearance: pours clear black with good tan soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, liquorice, alcohol, chocolate, light dried fruit, faint port notes, ash and coffee notes. palette: strong roasted malty aroma, average carbonation, full body, average to notable sweetness, balanced by a medium bitterness, average to long duration and an oily texture. Overall: tasteful imp stout - but not much port character
3.6 Donker bier met weinig koolzuur. Geur gebrandemout, beetje rook. Smaak gebrandemout, kers, water. Medium bitter zuur. Nasmaak, gebrandemout, cassis, water, beetje peper.
3.0 0,3 liter bottle. Got is as a giftset of Kompaan brewery. Liked it, but not enough for a permanent place in my cellar or fridge.
3.4 Pours black with an off white head. Malty aroma with a sweet tone. Taste of dried fruit and alcohol. Nice mouthfeel. Alcohol overrules though
3.6 Bottle shared by a friend. Darkest brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, dark fruit and smoke. Malty and chocolatey flavor with smoky accents before a dark fruit finish.
4.0 Chocolate, roasted malt, liquorice, dark fruit and cherries. Light bodied in comparison to most imperial stouts and soft mouthfeel but a lot of flavour and a complex sour and bittersweet finish
4.5 Sour cherries and chocolate tones, alcohol well concealed, hefty bitterness. Delicious!
4.2 Thuis uit een flesje. Bijna zwarte kleur, redelijk schuim.
3.5 From bottle. Dark brown to black color with beige brown head. Malty aroma, roasted, perfume, licorice, coffee, chocolate. Sweet and bitter taste. Light oily body with soft carbonation.
3.4 Bottle from AH. V dark reddish black with thick creamy head. Low carb. Thick mouthfeel. Burnt slight urine aroma. Strong but very round with burnt coffee and wood. Heavy stuff
3.6 Bottle pours dark translucent brown with khaki head. Aroma and flavors are complex if a little thin for an impy. Roasted malts, dark raisiny port-like sweetness, smoke, char, light coffee chocolate and nuts. Tingly feel. Not bad. 1400th brewery!
4.0 #2376 Bottle. Hazy, deep brown, small beige head. Aroma of cocoa, vinois, nuts, alcohol, dessert. Taste is neutral, aged, raisins, lots of nuts, peaty, vinous, creamy tones, white chocolate, chocolate cake, nuts, alcohol, greatly balanced by smokiness, port wine in finish. Fuller body, high carbonation. Interesting.
4.0 Bottle 0.33l. Brown colored. AROMA- smoky, dark chocolate, sour cherries, port, touch of cofee. FLAVOR- neutral, bitter, a bit warming, dark chocolate, coffee, lightly smoky, touch of port and peat. Medium to fuller bodied. Very good.
3.6 Bottle. Aroma: nice coffee and chocolatte, plumes in liquor, dark burnt bread crumbs. Pleasant. Full body, coffee, lightly roasted grains and medium bitterness. Beer taste much like blatic/imp. porter or not so burnt classical imp. stout.
3.7 33cl Bottle @ Saveur-Biere, Lille, France. Black colour with a medium size tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, port wine. Taste is roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, toffee, licorice, coffee, prunes, port wine. Medium to full body, average carbonation.
3.3 Only directly after pooring, this pitch black beer has some foam. The beer looks thick and luscious but the taste stays behand and is on the thin side. get yourself some young cheese to bring out the taste. Well made, but not superior for me.
