3.6 At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Ruby red in the lights with sparkling clarity. Almost still and settling headless. Nose is initially nutty with roasted almond, almond meal and husky walnuts. Light vanillin, coconut, oak, stewed beef and mushroom - interesting. Joe Smooth on the palate. Good, rounded and firm body. Low to spritzy carbonation. Toffee brittle, nutty fudge, chocolate brownie - this could well be afternoon tea. Light mochaccino and milk chocolate notes round it out further. A hint of buttery diacetyl doesn't detract much. Lengthy, toasted coconut swallow. A touch of vanilla bean and meaty umami too. Nicely balanced and rounded. An interesting and bold brown ale. Sessionable stuff to boot!! (12Fl.Oz, illegible date stamp, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
3.3 Clear brown beer, thin off-white head. Smells of light coconut and caramel.taste follows suit, though luckily the coconut isn't too strong as I don't much care for it. Malty with caramel and a dash of lighter hop too, this is actually balanced enough that as I went through it the coconut didn't really bother me.
3.6 355ml bottle. Pours clear brown with a small beige head. Aroma of coconut, chocolate. Taste is sweet, coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate, lightly roasted malts, toffee, caramel. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
2.9 Poured with a nice thick, creamy head but there wasn’t a great deal on the nose. When it’s cold it’s pretty tasty - there’s a great milk chocolate vibe that gives way to sticky, sweet coconut flakes and a nice charcoal edge to balance. But as it warmed the flavour became a bit rough, with the charcoal too heavy handed and the coconut a smidge fake.
3.5 Pours brown from the bottle. An off white frothy head lingers. Sticky lacing. Aroma is coconut, roasted nuts, mineral water. Taste is sweet, full of coconut, vanilla, caramel, a bit syrupy. Medium body, mild carbonation. Good.
3.3 Pours clear brown with a thin head. Aroma is nutty and light roast. Taste is caramel and nuts, moving to roast. Finish is bitter roast. A good brown ale.
3.5 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated Jan 11 18. Gorgeous looking brown pour with a milk shake like ferocious foamy mocha head. I do pick up the coconuts in the aroma but it is actually more like a creamy, chocolate like character. Sweet and malty for sure. Smooth medium body. The taste is sweet and creamy all around with a mild bitterness to end. I have never been overwhelmed by their beer but this one was decent.
3.8 Bottle @ Patricks, Kristiansand. Clear brown body with a small beige head. Mild aroma of chocolate and cocoa. Flavor is sweetish, mild, pleasant dark malt, milk chocolate, mild but distinct cocoa, light toast and moderate bitterness. Fine body and long lasting, nice aftertaste. Tasty and pleasant brown ale.
4.2 Draft, Geraham’s Chop House, NY; Rich smooth creamy coconut, thick warm mouthfeel, very pleasant strong coconut and chocolate aroma, very yummy, very drinkable. Minimal head and low lacing, but altogether delightful.
3.7 Deep roasted coconut flavour. With some mild dry hops. Tasty twist on a brown ale. A fan!
3.7 Bottle. It poured a brown color with lasting off-white head. The aroma is coconut and roasted malt. The taste is sweet with a creamy mouth feel. Tasty.
2.3 Fairly shocked a beer this dull rates an 80 on this site...wait, no I'm not. A mild brown ale mixed with "natural" coconut flavor, lacking much character beyond the appreciably dry finish and the weird metallic tang that wrecks the middle of the beer. Pours a thin brown with a brief beige head and slight lace. Watery and overcarbonated. Nonexistent nose. Weak pint. An 80? Really?
3.6 light chocolate brown color, thin head, sublte roadted aroma with coconut backdrop, mild flat malty coconut flavor.
3.4 Ravfarget klar med lavt beige skum. Lukter kokos, kandissukker og noe kakao. Middels fylde. Smaker lett bitter brent karamell. Kokosen er der sammen med noe kaffe.
4.0 Appearance: coffee; no head Taste: nutty; slight hops 4/14/18 PGA Grill (Honolulu Intl)
2.9 Bottle. Clear brown with a light beige head. Shy aroma is more Reef Oil than Bounty but there is a hint of chocolate there too. Coconut tastes more real than it smelled and there's a little toasty edge to it. But there's little else to the malt (apart from bland sweetness) and a weedy bitterness makes the whole thing feel a bit thin. Not really my sort of thing.
3.6 A clean light brown color with a fluffy head of light tan foam. The aroma is inviting with a delightful coconut flesh. The taste is mostly caramel malt, very subtle roast, and more coconut. A bit thin, but enjoyable.
3.3 Shared bottle. Pours clear amber with a light beige head. Aroma and flavors of coconut, nuts, caramel, roasted malt, hints of vanilla. Sweet coconut finish.
3.3 Aroma: roasty suntan lotion; Appearance: dark amber pour with creamy white head; Taste: tons of coconut, a little malt and roastiness; not like a traditional brown; Palate: medium-heavy body with long, cononut finish; Overall: good in small quantities; otherwise, coconut is overwhelming.
3.8 Not the best Brown I’ve had but pretty tasty. Hint of cocoa in the aftertaste.
3.8 Bottle at Harrild & Sons, London. Pours mid to dark brown with a small off-white to beige head. Aroma is dominated by the most authentic coconut aroma I've had from a beer, with some light toasting, chocolate and nut in the background. Moderate sweetness and bitterness, with a hint of coconut milk sour. Towards medium body, slight oily and rather watery texture, average carbonation. If coconut beers had there own category this would be a candidate for top spot!
4.6 This is my go to Coconut ale. It is very balanced and a great overall drinker. First had this on the islands and was glad to see it make it to the mainland.
3.3 Bottle. Pours misty chestnut brown with small off-white head. Aroma: coconut, caramel, hops. Light to medium body. Malty taste with well-detectable coconut adjunct. Light plus ending bitterness. Decent. Unfortunately I am not a fan of coconut.
3.6 Brown with little head. Aroma is toasted coconut, lebkuchen, nuts, a bit cocoa and/or chocolate as well. Bounty sums it up. Taste is slightly sweet nutty with lots of cacao nibs. Nutty finish. Nice.
3.8 Bottle at Moritz's. Nose is crazy coconut, chocolate, lebkuchen. Palate is pure bounty, chocolate, coconut, hazelnut. Mhhhh
3.5 Bottle. Rather clear brown color with white head. Aroma is brown malts, chocolate, a touch coconut, lebkuchen. Taste is coconut butter, chocolate, and lots of it. Tasty, but simple. Liquid Bounty.
3.3 Aroma: roasted dark malts, caramel, coconut. Appearance: amber color and creamy head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, roasted dark malts, butterscotch, coconut, dry. Palate: low body and high carbonation. Overall: decent amber ale, coconut plays the second role.
2.9 bottled - dark reddish color. Coconut aroma. Artificial chocolatey coconut flavor. Just ok.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a brown color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel and coconut aroma. Slightly roasted malty caramel and coconut flavor. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel and coconut finish.
