Kuhnhenn India Pale Ale (American IPA)

Kuhnhenn India Pale Ale (American IPA)

This amber colored beer is creamy and delectable, probably our best India Pale Ale yet. Hops, hops and more hops will satisfy even the most extreme hop head.

4.0 On tap at Craft Beer Co, Islington on 25th January 2013. Copper with thin off white head and lasting lace. Richly spicy aroma with tangerine and peel. Deliciously citrusy in-mouth tempered by rich malt and spiciness. Tangerine and zesty peel in finish on a zingy, bodiful mouthfeel. Excellent.
3.6 28th January 2013 Craft Clerkenwell. Keg. Almost clear amber beer. Suprisingly almost no head because the palate is light and crisp. Thin creamy malt base. Mild floral orange hops and minerals.Slightly sweet tropical fruits - mellow. Finishes crisp. Decent beer but was expecting something more hop forward.

3.4 I quite like this. Pours clear orange with good lacing ad head. Lots of citrus hops here. The hop variety is spicy. Adds some nice flavour to this. Finish is light but still has some bitter. Tap at brewpub.
3.6 Tap at the Cask, Pimlico - 11/01/13. Lightly hazed amber with a thin off white head that clears to the edge. Nose is caramel malt, sugars, pine, hops, citrus, faint whiff of booze. Taste comprises hops, pine, caramel malt, sugars, grass, bitter notes. Medium bodied with some bite, soft carbonation, some bitterness in the finish. Decent enough.
3.3 Keg @ CPK. The pour’s a deep amber color with a small off-white head. The nose is grapefruit, fruit leather, light dried grass. Sweet aromas, hints of caramel. The taste is more spring fruits, light citrus, some tree bark. These more delicate flavors are ballasted by strong notes of caramel. Big malt profile. Lightly bitter finish. Medium body. This tastes slightly dulled and not super fresh. I imagine this traveled from Michigan to London via Denmark, so that’s not all that surprising. Overall, decent.
3.3 Keg at Cask Pub & Kitchen. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is orange squash, grapefruit, mango, light toast and caramel. The taste is orange, mango, tangerine, light resin, caramel, metallic, straw, light alcohol and some light spice with a bitter-dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and soft mouth-feel. Mellow. Maybe not too fresh. Decent, but nothing special.
3.5 Draft @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Pours an amber color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy citrus aroma. Fruity malty hoppy bitter spicy citrus flavor. has a fruity malty hoppy bitter citrus finish.
3.7 Draught at Ørsted, Copenhagen Cloudy amber color, small head. Malt aroma, a bit biscuity. A very typical American IPA, with some crystal malt, lean mouthfeel, lemon cake feeling, strong resiny hopping and some hop fruitiness; the final is long and very bitter. Good, but I prefer fresher and cleaner IPAs.
