La Guillotine

La Guillotine

Bottles: 33cl with crown cap, 75cl with cork and muselet.

Barrels: 15l, 20l and 30l.

Alcohol volume: 8.5% ABV

Colour and sight: Golden blond, multigrain beer with a very persistent, lacing head.

Scent: A complex smell, with a citrus aroma, followed by hop aromas such as Saaz, Brewers Gold and Amarillo.

Flavour: Initially rather sweet, because of the alcohol. The intense taste and roundness mask the presence of high bitterness.

2.8 Amberkleurig bier met een witte schuimkraag. Licht moutig. Fruitig, banaan en citrus. Een beetje kruidig. Daarnaast licht gistig qua smaak.
3.5 33cl ceramic caged bottle as usual from Huyghe, got from an online shop. Full, opaque dark golden color with lots of frothy white foam on top. Aroma of malt, some spicy yeast, some citrus, herbal grassy hops. Taste is a bit sweet with malt, yeast and caramel, some notes of fruits mostly citrus, and a dry and bitter hoppy finish which i quite enjoy. Medium body and watery texture, refreshing and pretty strong but also alcohol well hidden at 8.5% abv. Kind of like a less complex and more straight forward hoppy belgian. Not as good as the Delirium Tremens and not my favorite from Huyghe but i still quite enjoyed this one, will get again for sure. Very nice and drinkable.
3.4 Klarowne i złote. Wielka czapa białej piany. Oczka różnej wielkości. Dziurawi się i redukuje powoli. Aromat nikły. Owocowo kwaśny. W smaku raczej pełne. Owocowe. Lekko drożdżowe. No i chmielowe. Chmielenie zdaje się umiarkowanie nowofalowe. Klasyka do końca to nie jest. Ale jest ok.
4.1 Dużo rześkich estrów, bardzo przyjemna słodowa gładkość, finisz owocowo-przyprawowy. Bardzo solidne, estrowo-słodowe belgian strong ale.
3.0 Bitter overheerst
3.4 Rating from old records. Nice old school bottle. Fruity esters on the nose, hoppier than many Belgian ales, a bit of pepper in the finish.
3.4 Fruity floral aroma in a yellow (highly active) pour. Big hop forward balance with a fruit bread body and sustained bitter finish. Not what one would be expecting from the style.
3.9 Golden, very foamy beer. Aroma of Belgian yeast, floral. Bitter taste, with a pleasant fruity note in the finish, as well as some spice. Pronounced hoppiness throughout. Medium to full bodied. Nice.
3.5 0.33 l brown bottle from Vrutak, Zagreb. Shared with little Dina. Hazy golden with an orange tint, huge head falling to a medium size, persistent, frothy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, grainy and metallic. Pome fruit at first, ripe apple, pear, some banana. Some slightly aggressive phenols. Green tea and citrus in the back. Strong, some alcohol, some bitterness, quite fruity, orange, biscuit, fruit brandy. Slightly sweet at first, finishes dry. Warming, medium body, moderate carbonation, gentle texture, moderate finish. Quite good.
4.0 330ml bottle brewed in Belgium at 8.5%. Slightly unclear lemon-yellow with a nice-sized rock-stable head as you'd expect from the brewery. Somewhat sweet hoppy citrus tang aroma, some light bready malt and booze wafting off. Moderate- carbonation. Fruity and juicy and sweet and tangy. Vivacious and well-balanced. Could be Huyghe's most 'drinkable' offering. Tangy tangerine notes, slight bready malt kept lively by the carbonation without the same gassiness as usual from Huyghe. Some candied orange/lemon peel in the drying finish. This is more my sort of thing than the 'Delirium' range, to be honest, basically being a Delirium Tremens with more liveliness and straightforwardness. Nice and dry while keeping fruity sweetness. Probably a dangerous way to get 8.5% into you, but that's Belgian brewing in a nutshell! Maybe keep the sediment out if you want more dryness and less fruitiness. All in all, a good brew.
3.7 Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a slightly hazy golden/amber colour with a medium sized white head. Aromas of stoney fruits, apricot, spice, with hints of bananas and pears. Taste has more of the same notes again as the aroma. Fullish body, smooth mouthfeel and a fruity hoppy and peppery spice finish. Nicely balanced. Quite nice.
3.5 Rocky white head stayed on a highly carbonated pale amber body. Sweet berry, spice & yeast aroma. Medium bodied, sharp on the palate with clean back. Spices, berry, yeast & sweet fruited tastes with long bitter tangy finish. Deece.
2.8 33 cl bottle at home. Drank on July 3rd 2020 as La Guillotine (8,5%). Decent beer.
Aroma a malta, algo edulcorada. Sabor dulce a malta y azúcar, algo afrutado, con clara presencia alcohólica. Cuerpo medio y carbonatación medio-alta. Una belga dorada de manual.
3.9 Large ceramic caged and corked bottle pours orange-gold with a spritz of white head and lacing. Aroma: honey, floral, peaches. Flavor: honey, caramel, orange, apricots, biscuit, yeasty bread. Mouthfeel: medium- to full-bodied with a creamy finish, soft on palette.
3.4 Botella 330ml Dorada, opaca con espuma blanca, fina, alta, resistente.Aroma frutal, levadura, especias.
4.3 0,33 bottle. Let's look at the killer machine :) : It opens with a huge and durable foam (probably due to oats and wheat), a light clear color. As described, it is made without added sugar. It smells better than expected: sweet with a tiny bit of alcohol, and hop-dried, fruity. It has a full-bodied, heavily sweet, dried fruity, serious beer. Great citrusy aftertaste, with pronounced bitterness with dried fruit chew .. Percussion, excellent dessert, recommended only as a closure or next to a meal, do not drink 6 glasses of this with your neighbor because it will not be a good end :) *** Nézzük a lefejező készüléket: Hatalmas és tartós habbal nyit (valószínű a zab és búza miatt) , világos tiszta szín. A leírás szerint hozzáadott cukor nélkül készült. Illata jobb a vártnál: icipici alkohol mellett édes, és aszalt gyümölcsös, komlós. Ízre testes, telt, erősen édeskés, aszalt gyümölcsös, komoly sör. Remek citrusos utóízek érezhetőek, markáns keserű mellett aszalt gyümölcs mámorral.. Ütős, kiváló desszert, csakis lezárásként vagy étkezés mellé ajánlott, ne 6 üveg ilyennel menjünk át a szomszéddal iszogatni, mert nem lesz jó vége :)
3.9 Light amber and hazy with a two centimetre thick head. Spicy smell of nutmeg and colve with a little fruitiness. In taste a citric bitterness with a spicy ending.
2.3 Usually when you try Belgian beers you know that beer is good, and sometimes excellent. Drinking Belgian beer is drinking quality beer. Well, this beer is not a disappointment. I haven't tried Belgian beer for so long.
2.9 A bit fruity and bready smell. Short sweetness, tggen bitterness, bit sour. Dry finish. Warming. Some subtile fruity layers underneath (banana, citrus?) but these are a bit masked by the dominating hoppyness, which makes this beer quite 'one dimensional' in the end. Complex but not very well balanced.
3.4 Flasche 0,33l: Kräftiges Gold, glasklar, kräftiger stabiler feinporiger Schaum; fruchtige + sehr würzige Nase, leichte Zitrusnoten, eingelegtes/getrocknetes Obst, kräftige malzige Süße, kräftige Hefearomen, leichte Hopfennoten, Malz, Getreide, etwas Karamell, würziger Honig, dezente fruchtige Säure, Apfelcider; frischer + fruchtiger Körper, Zitrusnoten, frische Hopfenaromen, malzige Süße, Vanille, Karamell, würziger Honig, sehr kräftige Hefearomen, cremig, kräftige Kohlensäure, deutlich Alkohol; angenehmer malzig-würziger Nachgang
3.2 Bottle from beer supermarket, Belgium. Milky sweet aroma. Deep sierra nevada ipa style apperance. Mellow sweet Belgian taste. Smooth and light boozy finish. Quite decent but understated.
3.7 Strange in taste, but satisfying. Cherry-like, sweet brandy ale, orange in colour.
3.5 0.33l bottle. Pours clear golden with medium sized quickly diminishing white head. Yeast, malt some hoppy notes. Above average carbonation, bitter finish. Basic but good.
4.0 Robe blonde, mousse blanche abondante. Nez citron.
