La Trappe Bockbier

La Trappe Bockbier

This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

3.7 [33cl bottle from Beer52.] A dark tawny brown pour with a billowing beige head; aroma of dries fruit; malt loaf taste with lots of raisins and demerara sugar; then a slightly drier finish with a light aromatic bitterness. Excellent.
3.7 Classic stuff, rich, malty, fruity. Reddish brown, pinky tinged head. Toffee, plum, and a satisfying caramel finish.
4.0 Bottle. Lovely pour, foamy, black-ruby colour. Malts, plum, caramel/toffee, a touch of spice. Some booziness, but nicely balanced with the malt. Enjoyable stuff.

3.9 33cl bottle from a Prik&Tik store in Roeselare, Belgium, drinking 7/10/2021 BB 09-2023 Pours a dark brown/amber body with a large thick tan head on top and lots of lacing. Great aroma of caramel and roasted malts, toffee, nuts, dried fruits, sugary, quite boozy, yeasty, very nice. Taste is warm, moderately sweet and rich with notes of caramel and roasted malt, nuts and dried fruits, toffee, some cocoa, slightly sugary, good and round moderate bitter finish with more sweet caramel notes. Very warm and boozy for 7% abv but absolutely smooth and lovely taste, a bit more on the sweet side but pleasantly so. A bit creamy. Medium to full body, slick slightly oily texture and moderate carbonation. Amazing, tasty and warm bock.

3.4 Bottled 0,33L. Dark amber/reddish color, intence and creamy beige head of long resistance, hazy and dirty aspect with sediments. Intence and rich aroma, notes of caramel, roasted, toffee, candy, cellar, aged and moisted yeast, sugary. Moderate fraught and warm palate, equilibrate and pleasant alcoholic impression, long and sweet moisted and fruity final.
3.8 Dark brown with a medium light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Chocolate, caramel, burnt roasted malts, dark fruits, brown sugar, oxidation, sweeter finish.
Bitterzoete smaak. Tamelijk bitter voor een bockbier.
3.8 Bottle from Systembolagets Sweden. Huge and very long lasting light brown head. Opaque solid red color. Mild caramell malt aroma and taste. Low bitterness and slim body for a bock beer. The Monks know how too brew other beers than the normal belgian beers.
3.7 Bottle, 33 cl, SB. Overall pleasant, extremely malty. Somewhat sweet, somewhat smokey accents in aroma. Small bitter finish. Nice colour.
3.3 Aroma of burnt malt, slightly herbal and caramel. Dry taste of caramel, roasted malt and bread. Okay bitter that fills the whole mouth an eternity. Good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.5 Bottle from Systembolaget. Slight chocolate aroma. Lovely appearance with decent foam, with colour moving from dark brown to red at the bottom. Taste is actually very good! A more mellow chocolatey form of trappist dubbel. Some cigarette ending. Booze is so much more acceptable in this only trappist bock than the usual bocks. Hope other benelux brewers heed the call. No doubt higher rating if bocks were my thing.
3.3 Sweet, dark,
3.4 How: Bottle. Where: Systembolaget. Appearance: Dark amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Malt, caramel, nuts, dried fruit, yeast. Body: Medium body, low to medium carbonation. Flavour: Malt, yeast, caramel, dried fruit, some spices.
3.4 Mörk. Fyllig.
3.1 Tastes more like a stone ipa than a bock. It is lacking in freshness and yeast. Metallic bitterness and burnt Sweetness. I love the brewery, but this is obvious vasted on me and should only be served to a true connoisseur. Don't serve too cold
Meget stor bitterhed bringer god balance. Ikke min type øl men virkelig godt håndværk.
3.4 Old rating from 2017 - 330ml bottle, pours brown with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of dark fruit, caramel, clove, bread, earth, nuts & yeast. Medium body. Dry finish
Bottle from Systembolaget. Malty, dried fruity and caramely. Body is medium, caramely finish.
Liknande i smak.
3.2 75 cl. champagne cork bottle at home. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Hazy dark brown body. Roasted malt caramel cocoa aroma. Sweet caramel cocoa flavor with little hops bitternes, low carbonation and a long sweet inish.
3.2 Dark mellow maltiness, smooth, a bit sweet, liquorice. Not much depth in aroma. Would be good with hearty dishes.
3.2 Vintage 2018: Sweet molasse, dark honey, toffe, nice body with a decent bitter finish.
4.3 Aroma: Distinct fruity aroma of Belgian yeast. Notes of herbs, bread and coffee. Appearance: Brown with glorious, typically Belgian head. Taste: Dry with some roasted bitterness. Palate: Medium body, surprisingly light carbonation, silky. Overall: Bock with a trappist twist, really cool!
