3.8 Not sure why the hate, this is one of mine and husband’s favourites! Light and crisp, pretty nice. Nothing like going to the tavern and having 5 or 6 of these.
2.9 Light blond beer, one of the only Labatts I enjoy. The dirty grain flavour is never stale, the hops are not bright but add some crispness, light bodied, a stiff and dry alternative to Blue/Canadian.
2.3 Bright straw color with storming activity. Slightly creamy white 2 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with good legs. Flavors of sweet grains, barley, caramel, corn, faint skunk, herbal spices. Thick malt sweetness, a little syrupy, with faint bitter hops. Oily full body with moderate carbonation. Light finish, lingering malty cereal feel, sugar cane, and faint hops. Good freshness, the flavors are okay, although feels a little adjunct. Too much sugars and a bit flat. Seriously one of the best that Labatt can offer, with a tradition over here saying that it’s even drinkable at room temperature. Overall below average quality craft.
2.5 Another upstate NY/Ontario staple. About .50 a serving and decent with food. Not exactly a beer geeks beer but it’s refreshingly dry and completely non-offensive.
2.4 The beer of my youth and I loved their hats. Nothing extraordinary and was a commercially brewed that I was a bit more bitter then blue.
2.4 Pours pale gold with a fast fading white head. Aroma is grain, corn and grass. It has a light body and medium carbination. I bought this purely for nostalgic reasons, wish I could have found it on a stubby rather than a can.
2.1 Can. Not only did I buy a can of this beer, I bought it at Rogers Centre so I paid $12 for it! Yeah, they classify it as a Domestic Premium beer. What a joke!! I mean it’s not terrible, but there is nothing here to make me want another one.
1.9 Blond beer Comercial ! Not the best but drinkable in high quantity! Better in draft
3.3 Enjoyed in many variations (can, draft) but for this one, poured from bottle. Pours a fairly large head and dissipates pretty quickly. Has a pale yellow/golden colour. Ok lacing. A pretty faint hoppy aroma, mostly wheats and grains. Well balanced hoppy and malty flavours. Somewhat grainy on the finish. Borderline watery mouthfeel but with a bit of creaminess and good retention. A perfect above average abv session beer. My go-to NFL Sunday beer.
2.0 Can from sobeys. Pours golden with no real head. Aromas of corn and barley. Some metallic notes. Taste is grainy and sweet. No corn or metallics in the taste. Not terrible.
1.4 Aroma is honey caramel and sulphur. Taste is bland malts and basic bittering hops. Finishes flat. Appearance is a clear gold with a thin pearl head that dissipates quickly.
2.0 740 ml can. Nostalgic impulse buy from the singles bin at Lucky’s Liquor. Bright clear yellow, lasting white foam. Pukey aroma. Bland bready grainy corny taste, maybe some citrus. Average carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Tasted better from a stubby back in the ’70s. MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly)
2.0 Pours a clear light golden with a small white head that fizzes away somewhat fast and leave some lacing. Nose is of sweet cereals and adjuncts. Taste is of cereals and that’s about it. Body is light, carbonation medium-high and mouthfeel a little watery. Overall this is down there will all the other macro swills. Maybe a tiny hint superior to other Labbat offerings but that is not saying much....
1.8 Bottle from Wegmans. Different label, it is green. Pours a light gold, with almost no head. Aromas of hops and corn. Watery, bland. Thin. Low boost. Was expecting more.
2.8 In Quebec the beer your uncles and the old dudes in the bar drink. Gold with a thicker than average head for a macro-lager so it looks nice enough. The nose is a bit rough, taste wise it is earthy and less sweet than your average macro which is a plus in my book but ultimately it is somewhat below average. I could see this being a hipster beer in the Pabst Blue Ribbon vein.
3.3 Transfer from BA review on 12-31-12- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a medium golden color with a one finger white head. The head has moderate retention fading to leave only a decent level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is a mix of malt and a light papery and citrus smell. Taste – The taste begins with a grainy and light caramel taste. Some notes of a fruity taste come to the tongue as the taste advances mixing with the initial grainy flavors to produce a rather smooth flavor. As the taste goes even further to the end, a light citrus hop and corn flavor come to the tongue and melds well with the smooth bready, grain, and sweet flavors of the brew. Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the average to slightly above average side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that is slightly lower than average. The creamy body accentuated the smoothness of the beer with the lower carbonation only helping it along further. Overall – I was quite surprised by the brew. While not a flavor powerhouse it was much smoother then I would have expected and was quite easy drinking and enjoyable.
1.8 Bottle from Strathroy Alehouse August 2013. Horrible wet straw aroma and a flavour that leaves a lot to be desired.
2.1 Bit better than some other macros I’ve had. Pale clear yellow pour with minimal head which disappears with no residue. Slight sweetness in the flavour. Light semi watery body with average carbonation.
2.5 This isn’t terrible. Just boring. Goes down smooth like most macros. This has sweet grain aromas and flavors. That’s it.
2.4 341ml bottle. Clear golden with a thin foamy white head. Flavors are pale malts, sugar and caramel with floral notes. Light citrusy hops and bitterness. Medium body, fizzy carbonation, smooth texture. The best swill you can get.
2.9 A staple of the Kraft dinner days of college revisited at a dive bar. Golden colour and a quickly vanishing head of fizz give way graininess and a small bit of DMS. High carbonation is masking any subtle flavouring as is the cold temperature, which is likely for the best. Flavour is all pale malt and grain. Finishes off quickly and unmemorable. Similar to running into an ex-girlfriend and then wondering what you were thinking all those years ago that made you stick around for so long.
2.3 Bottle (Old Notes)-Pours a clear golden with a decent sized head. Aroma of corn grains, and sweetness. Taste of the same. This light bodied brew is well balanced and goes down smooth.
2.8 Pretty average beer but a good one considering it comes from a macro brewery. It has good balance. Great for lawn mowing
2.1 1998 vintage can. Pours slightly hazier than the norm. Flavor is almost nonexistent.
1.7 Light amber with a bit of haze and little head retention, the aroma is a tad lemony. The taste is unremarkable with a dry finish. ---Cheers until next time! DMSR
2.9 Bottle @ home, courtesy of BlackIPA. Fucken chinchillin motha fucka. Pours a bit hazy, light yellow appearance with a white head. Corny, lemon, sweet malty, bland, slight cleanser aroma. A bit twangy, candy corn, lemon, cracker, spritzy flavor that finishes pretty dry. Actually pretty fucken damn decent. [Update: note the distribution of ratings! Really fucken high variance I haven’t seen since Samuel Adams Triple Bock.]
2.1 Lagery, watery. Inoffensive, not much hops. Good aroma, bready. Astringent midtongue mouthfeel. Overall, 7/20.
