3.2 Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a clean white head. Aromas of musty yeast, muted hop presence. Touch of funk underneath. A little stale. Hops have been lost. Decent, not Mind blowing. Waxed.
3.7 En tirador.@zeitgeist .aromas a levadura belga,con buena retención y trago fácil.distinta e interesante
3.4 I’m not a big Belgian strong ale fan, but this is enjoyable. Lots of carbonation, the yeast is relatively mild. I get lemon and clove along with the mild sourness. Nice combo with the hops bitterness. The ABV isn’t as apparent as I expected. Pretty tasty.
2.7 Pours a yellow orange color with a citrus pineapple aroma. Taste is clean, with a malt backbone. Mild yeast flavor that leaves a minor bitter aftertaste coupled with alcohol.
3.6 Tap: Golden-straw color, super hazy, completely opaque with a big, fluffy white head adorned on top. Long lasting. Floral hoppage on the nose, nice balance of bitter leaves, grass, pine, citrus rind, & a touch of baked biscuits. Light yeast. Flavor also starts very floral-like with a big pine character. The hops take a split between tropical & citric as well, introducing pineapple, grapefruit, mango, & pear. Mild phenol character with a heavily bready, slightly gummy, & modestly spicy yeast finish. Hint of clove, cardamom, finishing with orange rind & pine sap. Tasty stuff.
3.9 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear gold color with a brief white head. Nice aroma of hops and malt. Medium-full body with a good balance of piney hops and sweet malt with a touch of sourness during the slightly bitter finish. Good one!
3.6 Taster at Lagunitas. Pours clear amber with a generous white head. Aroma is light hops, sweet malts, and hints of ripe fruit and barnyard. Flavour is well balanced malts and hops with notes of barnyard yeast and spices. Medium body.
3.7 Completely clear peach and light copper coloured body with a thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pure brett, light wheat, grain, alcohol, vinegar and a good fresh herb scent - nice and pungent. Medium-bodied; Effervescent quality up front with a potent yeast kick with the brett very noticeable and a pungent bitterness from herbs and grass also at the end. Aftertaste shows a big alcohol kick (more than I expected) and a big fresh malt and hop character with more brett and yeast notes than anything else, but in a good way. Overall, a very well-crafted beer with tons of character, but perhaps a touch too deep and bitter, along with a nice brett and yeast flavour throughout. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Lebanese Taverna Market in Arlington, Virginia on 07-January-2015 sampled at home in Washington on 01-February-2015 - Thanks Kev!
2.9 Pours a clear, classic golden with a large, smooth, fluffy, white head, in spite of a careful pour. Light notes of hop resin are dominated by earthy Belgian aromas. Healthy, rich, soft mouthfeel. Well-blended malt sweetness, barnyard overtones, and tartness.
3.7 On tap @ Lagunitas Petaluma. Pours hazy orange amber with lacy white head. Aroma is mild caramel malt, light hops, and sweet lightly funky Belgian yeast notes. Taste is similar - here the Belgian yeast flavor dominates fairly substantial malt and hops. Finishes dry and clean. Tastes well smaller than ~9%. Interesting beer, and good, but honestly probably not an improvement on straight Lil’ Sumpin.
3.8 Bottle into tulip glass, clear light-amber golden color with soapy off-white head. Aroma of citrus/pine hops, candy sugar, Belgian yeast and herbal spices. Taste adds notes of heavy grapefruit, resin, light caramel, lemon candy, fruity (pear, green apple) and honey. Medium body, low-moderate carbonation, dry with fruity bitter finish. Slight funky take on the regular, quite good.
3.9 I’m trying not to encourage ubiquitous beer making of this high strength but this is a good beer. lagunitas reels in the hop overload by balancing it really well with earthy, bready, and slighty sour character. Much more interesting that the usual IPA, this definitely hits as a Belgian Strong. If they could do the same at about 7.3 I’d be raving.
4.0 has a nice sweet malt aroma. a very nice spice, good syle taste. Solid body with a tingly spice hop aftertaste.
4.2 Clear, light gold, tall and persistent head but sparse lace. Exuberant and complex floral nose, the greatest aspect of this beer. Medium body, matching in flavor intensity, silky texture, well rounded mouthfeel, very long palate. Definitly bitter but malty background balances it perfectly. Floral, malty and hoppy. Superb.
3.9 Bottle. Very clear pour with white head. Aroma is spice and clove. Dry, spice on tongue. Yeast is a nice twist.
4.1 Bottle. Pale gold, decent lacing. Distinctive Belgian yeast aroma with something sharp behind it. Flavour has a super nice hop bitterness with the yeast, very nicely balanced.
3.7 Not at all what I expected, completely blew my mind. Belgian yeast at the front in the aroma and taste, nice silky body with small soapy head. Nice sharp yeasty finish.
3.7 Hazy golden color with a foamy white head. Bready yeasty aroma with citrus fruitiness, pine, and herbal spiciness. Light dry malty start with grapefruit and bitter pine finish. The finish has a spicy herbal yeast flavor. I guess with the "wild" I was expecting a more sour ale but I still enjoyed.
3.3 Bottle poured to snifter. Light copper/gold, big foamy head. "Curious malt foundation" in the commercial description is right. Flavor is curious. Sweet and Belgian yeastiness. Lacked any kick strong ABV kick. Nice, but just okay.
3.9 Nice. Belgians ain't my thing but I sure do appreciate the Belgian yeast when used the right way and this is a great example. Adds to an already quality ale and compliments it and does not become the dominating feature. Well done.
3.4 Pours deep yellow with a bit of haze and a big n fluffy white head that laces madly. Aroma is citrus, florals, candy. Taste is caramel malt into piney hops with a bitter finish. A bit thin; very dry. I've had sumpin' better.
3.9 Pours clear light amber, very thin white head. Aroma is fruity/floral hinting of Belgian heritage. Taste is smooth balanced ale, not bitter, definitely like a saison. Good.
3.8 Orange pour with a ton of sticky foamy head. Draft at beer bistro. Not quite a wild, it's like regular sumpin with a fruitier taste. Very good. Fruity hoppy and happiness
3.7 Purchased from town earlier today. $10.99 for the pack. To over white wine glass, it pours an effervescent web color orange with which a snowy white head 1½ fingers in length stood. Aromas of cilantro, einkorn wheat, baby spinach, sorrel, stale banana bread, Belgian yeast, sawdust, American hops, marsh grass, spent grain, bubblegum, and dreid lavender. Tastes the same with the addition of sourdough, sweet basil, white rice, wet cardboard, tropical fruit, and sweat. I like that the Belgian yeast had been affectively complimented because of its powerful mysteriousness experienced at the tip of mid-palate section. This is the flavor you could almost put your finger on, but, as most cases go, it simply hadn’t been large and obnoxious enough to have remembered anything more than it being a whimsical sidenote. Barely there, and it’s nice.
4.0 Another Big Sister of the Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale…. Loads of Malted Wheat for a Curious Malt Foundation and a Light Color, But Our Belgian Yeast Leaves a Huge Flavor and Complexishness.
4.2 Hazy orange color , big white head. Mixed aroma of American hops and Belgian yeasts. Citrus and spices in taste with notes of wheat and yeast. Pleasant hoppy bitterness in finish and aftertaste.Great , interesting and tasty .
3.6 Bottle. Apricot in hue, with a soft haze and a sticky, soapy white top layer. Big hop character in the nose -- grass, lemon zest, flowers -- backed up by earthy honey, pear and wheat bread. The fruity Belgian yeast notes are more prominent in the flavor, but so is the pithy lemon hop character, and the follow-up of musty honey. An interesting blend, for sure. Soft, pillowy body, silky bubbles.
4.1 A lot going on in this IPA. First, it has fantastic clarity for an ale and big fluffy white head. Huge citrus in the nose, but very much a Belgian yeast flavor with wheat notes. Lagunitas always produces quality beers. Cheers!
4.5 Definitely my favorite in the Little Sumpin’ series. Beautiful pour with a cloudy pillowy head that stays around forever. Grapefruit flavors with a splash of honey
4.8 I love this concept of hopping the shit out of a wheat beer like you would an ipa..I have loved the entire little sumpin series of beers...I have had a little sumpin sumpin..little sumpin extra..and a little sumpin wild...I need a clone recipe of this to brew up.
