Lagunitas Born Again Yesterday

Lagunitas Born Again Yesterday

An UnFiltered Born Again Pale Ale for all the wet hop lovers!

We’ve discovered that the Lagunitas brewers are part time alchemists... they’ve figured out how to keep wet hops wet all freakin’ year long! The next beer in our 2016 #OneHitter Series is this Born Again Yesterday Pale Ale, which features a delicious concoction of wet hops, reborn and unfiltered into our Born Yesterday Pale Ale. Congrats... It’s a beer again!

MORE ABOUT THE FREAKIN’ WET HOPS:

To figure out this brand new wet hop preservation process, we had to forget everything that we already knew about how hops are processed and preserved. We tried 5 or 6 different things to try and achieve this process (some of which failed miserably), then we discovered a relatively simple process that deliberately did all the things that the textbooks told us not to do.

This new proprietary process involves a lot of time and money, and even more thinking about hops and freshness in new ways. From all of this, we found a brand-spankin’-new way to preserve the hops, fresh from the Yakima Valley trellises, first born during harvest season into the Born Yesterday last fall, and reborn into this scary new next step, the Born Again Yesterday Pale Ale, six months later, to the beer in your hands today.

3.6 35.5cl bottle. hazy orange colour. small white head. hops, malt, citrus, mango, pineapple, oranges. medium bitterness with medium carbonation.
3.8 Flaska från Systembolaget: Grumligt orange med litet skum. Doft av övermogen frukt och tallbarr. Fruktig smak av apelsin, ananas och tallbarr. Lång beska. Här finns inte mycket att klaga på.
3.8 Bottle from Systembolaget. Hoppy smell with citrus, pineapple and a hint of mango. Similar taste. Strong hop aroma. Strong bitterness. A bit rough mouthfeel.
4.1 Flaska.
3.7 This sure was a treat, the aroma isn't that great and only leaves you with a hint of hops, but the proof is in the pudding (or the beer in this case). It is a very fruity beer without a slight sweetnes to it, the only downside is that the only aftertaste you get is the standard bitter-ish IPA taste. With a slightly better deept it would be great.
4.1 Bottle from Systembolaget, 3 months old. Aroma of orange, pineapple, pine. Taste of pine, orange, with a medium bitterness and long fruity finish. This is a top tier IPA.
3.7 Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy golden/yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of mango, pineapple and some malt. The same in the taste, also some citrus. Medium body and bitterness.
4.1 Unfiltered, hazy, delicious looking orange beer with a white head that dissapears pretty fast. Nose: A lot of tropical fruit here! Orange, passion fruit, mango, peach, apricot and pine. Taste: Fuity, mango, grapefruit, citrus, orange peel and apricot. Mouth: Medium body. Medium carbonated. A bitter ending. Refreshing beer and great this hot summer!
3.8 Pours milky yellow with low white head. Aromas hoppy of citrusy fruits, orange marmalade, caramel, resin. Taste has notes of tropical fruits marmalade , caramel, resin, hints of lactose and yogurt
3.2 Caramel, pine, resin, grapefruit, alcohol, candied oranges. Hazy golden colour, small white head. Big bite, mid-sweet, ABV evident. Orange, caramel, green pepper, pine, resin. Medium body, thin feel, average carbonation, short bitter and boozy finish. Ok.
4.2 1 finger white head. Hazy, deep golden to mid amber coloured beer. Aroma is apricot & orange marmalade, grapefruit, pine, lemon peels, mango, overripe pineapple and finishes with a slight lactosy/vanilla like note. Taste is orange, grapefruit, lemon zest, mango, pineapple and a slight cream-like vibe here aswell. Mouthfeel is really refreshing and is insanely quaffable. Medium-low bitterness. Medium carbonation. Hop-oily. Overall: I don't know if it's the insane heat we're currently having over here in Sweden but something about this APA just really hit the spot. Everything I want from the style, even though it's not a masterpiece. It's just the perfect companion for the summer. I have to buy more of this!

3.8 God. Är dock avtrubbad. Men ye, fyllig, god. Not mindblowing tho.
3.8 Flaska från SB. Dimmig, orange kulör med smutsvit skumkrona. Doft och smak av apelsinskal, citrus, tall och lite marmelad. Välbalanserad och bra kropp.

3.8 Keg @ Bishops Arms, Hornsgatan. Hazy pale golden. Solid and lasting white head, good lacing. Typical NEIPA aroma, tropical fruity aroma, citrus, peach, mango, chalky pale malts and urinal cake. Grainy smooth and dryish mouthfeel, soft carbonated. Taste follows the aroma, tropical fruits and citrus, big bitter bite that works well with the smooth grains. Long bitter finish. Big and bold New England IPA.
3.5 How: Draught. Where: The Bishops Arms, Västerås. Appearance: Golden colour with a white head. Aroma: Citrus, tropical fruit, pine, malt. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Citrus, grapefruit, some tropical fruit, malt.
3.4 Sent by Lagunitas for comment. For an unfiltered ale, it pours just a little bit cloudy. There is a nice tropical fruit nose, maybe mango and pineapple. The hops in the palate are not muck bigger, but continue to show me the northwestern hop note. It's backed up by a strong malt backbone and a 7.2% abv. Now this beer may have suffered from sitting around in a UPS warehouse over the weekend when temps were first hitting the 80s. But it did weather well, with maybe some of the fruity hop flavor being dulled, but it's still a flavorful beer and a go-with for heavier meats and sausage.
3.9 12 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear orange hue with a large bubbly white head. A nice dank nose. Really big hops, dank, some citrus, pine. Sweet malty core. Very nice brew. Light yeasty funk, there is some Orval in here really. Taste this and then Orval. There is a link!
3.8 Apple-melon nose. Medium mouth feel. Some sweetness, nice noble hop flavor. Bitter, with no harshness. Nice bitter, hoppy finish. Great IPA, not overbittered, but the ABV is a bit on the high side for a quaffable summer ale.
4.1 This beer made my taste buds feel like they were one day old and tasting the best thing they have ever experienced in there young, one day old, life.
