3.6From a 22 ounce bottle poured a pale hazy amber hue with a rich frothy white head. Piny, bitter, citrus aroma with a floral tinge. Sticky, prickly, gritty, gnarley Lagunita presence. Yum!
4.1Lightly hazed, pale orange hue, 1/2 " head, pure white, looks nice.
Soft, but spiked aroma, pine and tropical fruity. Melon and citrus. Nice.
Ah! Tasty!
Sparkling, alert and lively hops, sticky, oily, spanking bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel. The tongue gets smacked with every sip, then mellows, and it’s all good. A whole bomber of this? Ain’t I lucky!
An interesting interplay, easy going in the mouth, but hits the palate with bitter hops anew with each sip. Bam, yum, fruity, delicious, fierce, and freaky.
Very good.
3.6Bottle at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting. Cloudy yellow with a strong fruit & citrus aroma. Fruity and hoppy on the tongue but with a honeyed malt balance. Soft and tingly in the mouth, this is nice stuff. And yes, a great label.
3.4With this bottle came a story, a tale by the cashier regaling the drug induced festivities that are rumored to break out at the Lagunitas brewery. I can see how brewers might be disposed to wild parties, but I doubt the charges of police drug investigations. Still, I think I might have gotten a taste for Lagunitas antics with their Freak Out. Fluffy, bubby and lumpy white-tan head with a hazy, even dirty orange body. The aroma is very dry and sterile, with a clear and pronounced hop profile. A second whiff - enter cotton candy and strawberry, both pleasant and desperately needed sweeteners. I also get a touch of lemon drop candy, sweet and sour, but mostly sweet. The flavor also includes cotton candy, strawberry and lemon, but attenuated, with the hops element getting a touch too metallic, particularly in the aftertaste. Otherwise I really enjoy the interplay and balance of the sugar and hops. Lively in flavor, good to drink, and a terrific backstory, if exaggerated.
3.822 oz. bottle - thanks to fyrecrakker05 for the bottle; pours cloudy orange with big white head and lots of lacing; aromas of vanilla, cookies and sour hops; thin body and very crisp and clean aftertaste, not to think and malty, but slight syrupy quality to it; time has made this a little one dimensional, but good at that one
3.8A Mes rate: bottle at Chris_O’s Ha Ha Ha Ha Gimme the Cheese Tasting.
Lovely blonde colour with a thin but stable white head and excellent condition. Very similar to the K.U.R. in a lot of ways. Hops are on their way out but this is still good stuff. Good malt gives it a slightly honeyed note and the delicate sweetness offsets the hops really well. Quite soft for a U.S. IPA. Nice dry and floral finish. Considering Harry was worried about how this would be holding up it’s still in fine form. Thanks as always mate.
Final note, possibly the best beer bottle label of all time. Well, if you are a FZ freak like me!
3.7Bottle @ Chris_o.
Pours lightly hazy golden with a small, creamy white film head. Aroma is lightly hoppy, quite citric and floral. Some biscuity caramel behind it. Fine mouthfeel, lovely creaminess. Flavour is quite dry, lightly hopped. Mostly fruity and floral hops, but also a touch of pine. Quite understated for an American IPA, which I like.
3.522 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a mostly lasting off white head. The aroma is mildly malty, with citrus and floral hops taking over. The flavor has a caramel malt presence, some toast, but mainly leans to the side of citrus and floral hops. Very crisp, decently balanced brew.
3.4Bomber that has been in the cellar for a while shared with my girlfriend Cyn and friends Matt and Shannon. Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is big and hoppy and nice. Taste is sweet and hoppy and resinny. Overall a pretty nice IPA
3.2Cloudy fully golden colour with a white head. Malty, light sweet flavor with pineapple fruity notes. Flavor starts malty sweet, then becomes more hoppy and fruity. Light dry finish with pine notes.
3.6This was a hoppy and citrus flavored beer with hints of malts witha nice thick frothy head,a good tribute to the man it is named for with a nice floral ZAP to it.CHEERS!
3.322 oz bottle. Hoppy aroma, with some honey malts. Pours orange amber color with a thin white head. Hoppy flavors, piney, grapefruit, with tosty malts, some honey, you can taste a little age on this bottle the hop flavors are diminishing, but its still good, very drinkable IPA.
3.322oz bottle from Bevmo. Pours a yellowish color with a pure white, fluffy head. Piney citrus aroma. Nice toasty malt flavors behind some citrus hop flavors. Very floral in the finish. Really nice and drinkable, this one has some good character, and hides the alcohol well. A very solid, tasty brew.
3.2In the bottle from Logan’s Pre-GABF party. Orange amber in color with a medium white head. Nice but harmless floral and citrus nose with a dash of pine. Taste is subpar for Lagunitas- medium oranges/chocolates, but nothing edgy. I’m not sure Frank would be too proud of this travel-in-the-pack IPA.
3.1From bottle, no 15 at Papsoes blindtasting. Pours hazy orange and with a diminished white head. Hoppy spiced aroma. Soft fruity and sweet caramel flavoured with a nice lingering finish. Somewhat soapy and spiced in the far finish. Solid to nice, not thrilling though.
3.5Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet hoppy and fruity - the hops giving it notes of grass and peaches being the strongest fruit. The flavor is sweet malty with notes fo peaches and citrus, as well as light notes of alcohol, leading to a dry bitter finish. The alcohol leaves a slight burn in the throat. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
3.4#15 [Blind tasting session @ Papsoe 30-11-2007] Average white fizzy head that mostly diminished. Fair lacework. Cloudy golden color. Grain, caramel, citrus. The sniff was somewhat weak. Over the palate moderated notes of bitter hops. Pine, grapefruit and citrus. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Moderated bitter flavor with light sweet notes. Dry and bitter floral finish that lingers and bites your gums.

Cloudy golden color; thin creamy head. Nice hoppy aroma, soft, with vanilla and light spices. Medium body strength, with a nice vanilla hop, creamy malt, long final, with light cookies too. Good, sweetish hoppy beer.
3.4Bottle. Pours a hazy deep golden colour. Aroma of sweet ripe fruits, hops and some malt. Good mothfeel. Bit sweet, dry fruity pleasant flavour with citrus, pine and bitter hops. Sweetish fruity finish.
3.3(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of kramer17801. Pours a hazy golden with an off-white head. Lightly citrusy nose with a touch of overripe fruit. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel and overripe fruit with some bitterness. Not your typical IPA - more like a Barley Wine light. 301107
3.9clear amber with a frothy white head. Strong smell of floral and citrus hops. Smooth mouthfeel. Good balanced taste of pale bready malts and tangy citrus, floral hops. Finishes nicely bitter. Pretty good.march 2007

Comments: A straightforward, classic Californian IPA that wins a few points for its crispiness.
3.422 oz bottle at Logan’s Pre-GABF party. Lots of citrus hops and some grassiness on the aromas. Flavors were not quite as nice. I should have just smelled it all night. More citrus, but then a bitterness that wasn’t the expected hop bitterness. Still not bad.
4.0Sweet grapefruit and pine hops aroma. Smells sticky. Pours orange gold with a minimal soapy white head. Strong hop bitterness balanced by a little sweet malt that makes the flavor similar to a grapefruit juice. Dry piney hops linger on the backend with a little bit of sweetness that tries to get through the hop attack. The hop attack almost has a gritty chewy mouthfeel. I like this stuff more than its 3.66 rating. A big ass West Coast IPA.
3.6rating from memory...22oz bottle pouring golden with an off white head. nose of pnw hops with pine and grapefruit. flavor is clearly west coast style with pine, citrus, and grapefruit. fresh and fruity with solid dose of hop bitterness. tasty stuff.

clear amber, thin beige head, sweet citrus hop aroma, nice hop flavor on a carmel malt base, just a touch of sweetness that grows a tad to balance the hops, a bitterness builds towards the finish and explodes lasting until the following week,

3.8Clear orangey golden pour with a thin white head. Good aroma of citrusy hops and malt. The flavor has a good wallop of citrusy and spicy hops with a good backbone of malt that provides a nice balance. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and medium carbonation. One of the nicer offerings from Lagunitas so far.
3.5Shared with (and thanks to) Beerguy101 and mwsf. A deep gold, nearing Orange color with a surprisingly malty/caramel nose, spicey floral hops. Not the industrial hops of some Left Coast IPA’s (Though I like those too!) but certainly noticeable. A grassy/french bread flavor with a woody- spicy finish.
3.7strong hoppy nose, the color is surprisingly light for the strength of the flavor. nice hop character with some depth with a sweet malty finish. very nice
3.3Light hops aroma. Orange color with a medium white head. Mild hops thoughout the taste with some malt mixed in there.
