Lagunitas Imperial Stout

Lagunitas Imperial Stout

Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of the day, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrhagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, weird, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to a futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

4.2 RöstIBU-Schleifer par excellence ☮️18😃+One Extrapoint für den ExtraEdelTabakoSmell👏 & like a tiny DoppelSticke🤩 BomberWatmartStuff....at the Wildhorse Camping Round in Washington....ppphhhiiisssshhhh ;)
4.0 A nice version of this beer style. Straigh from the fridge, the taste is so-so but when the beer gets warmer, the beer suddenly becomes very tasty.
3.8 65cl bottle. Black colour, small beige head. Malts, coffee, chocolate, smoke, a bit boozy. Medium bitterness, low to medium carbonation.
3.6 22oz bottle from Zain's Liquor, San Francisco and enjoyed at the Omni Hotel on 16-Nov-2018. Dark brown (almost black) with a medium sized tan coloured head. Aroma of pine, cocoa nibs and malt. Full body and medium carbonation. Taste of roasted malt, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and floral hops. Light to medium bitterness - the hop addition masks the sweetness well. A pretty decent imperial stout.
3.5 On tap at World of Beer in Bethesda, MD. Opaque, near-black with 1-finger tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, roasted coffee, tobacco and bitter chocolate. Taste of roasted malt, French roast coffee, tobacco and bitter chocolate. Full/medium body and medium/high carbonation. I'm not thrilled with the flavor balance on this one. Bitter chocolate and poor quality coffee flavors seem to fight with the roasted malt and the tobacco flavor seems to need some sweetness for balance. That said, it's definitely not a wimpy stout.
3.4 Thick brown head on top of a opaque black body there's a faint odor of roasted malts like a hint of coffee but it's subdued it's thick on the palate like it's really dense viscous The Taste is a bit dry with hints of coffee it's not a bad beer it's just not my preferred style or flavors despite that if need be I could drink this regularly
3.9 Big bottle with commonmac. Black with tan head. Boozy chocolate nose. Rich, soft, strong alcohol. Full body and flavor. Big beer.
4.0 Keg at Lagunitas Beer Circus, Flat Iron Square. Black with a tan head. Nice aroma of cherry, rum, molasses and treacle. Rich, but quite drinkable.
4.0 Rich flavour with chocolate and molasses. Great strength and good kick on palate. Excellent will drink again.
3.8 Almost black beer with an off-white head. Strong aromas of roasted wheat. Tastes of charred wheat, dark coffee, some dark chocolate, anise, and lots of smoke. Bitter burnt finish. A bit heavy handed on the dark flavors in my opinion. This beer is a beast.
3.5 Flaska Bishops Örebro. Brunsvart vätska. Doft av rostad malt, choklad och lite vanilj. Fyllig smak av mörk choklad, nötter och rostad malt
3.2 Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that left good lacing. The aroma was smokey and roasty with anise and floral hops. The flavor was bitter with smoke, roasty malts and anise. Very long finish. Thick and smooth body.
3.6 Mörkbrun nästan svart vätska med litet kakifärgat skum. Doft av rostad malt och bränt socker med lite lakrits och läder. Smak av samma. Lite tunn kropp, känns mer som en porter. Bra!
3.9 I liked this one from Lagunitas. Reminded me of their Cappucino Stout, but the coffee wasn't as intense. Had flavors of chocolate, coffee, caramel, and honey. Decent amount of hops for a malty beer. Dark brown, not quite black appearance. Sort of like a robust porter in taste and appearance. I would get this again, but nothing to really rave about. A well balanced, nice flavored brew.
3.9 a good multi purpose imperial stout,it's one one the cheapest priced imperial stouts i have seen on the market,it's not to dry,nor to sweet,it is well balanced and although it is stereotyped as a poor man's Imperial stout,it's definitely a top shelf stout
4.4 Aroma: roasted malt, caramel, chocolate. Taste: saturated mix of malt, caramel and chocolate. Notes of plums and coffee.
4.0 Very typical, just a little disappointed as expectation for Lagunitas higher. Thought it would be a little more hops. Dark cola color, modest head, cherries and dried fruit
4.0 22 oz. bottle. Pour was black with a foamy lingering tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, dark cherries. Taste was light bittersweet, very smooth, roast coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit.
3.8 Pours an oil-black with a tan head. Smell is roasted malts, coffee, and dark fruits, but the dark fruits don't seem present on taste. The taste has a good bit of malty sweetness that balances out the good amount of hoppy bitterness.
3.7 Pours thick and inky with a dark tan head. Coffee and roast notes with a little sweetness. More bitter than your average stout but well balanced.
2.9 Bottle, early 2017. Caramel, molasses, herbal notes, fruity (cherries, vinous notes), herbal hoppy finish, licorice. Medium body at most and where's the chocolate, the coffee and the roast?
2.8 22floz bottle, no date 72.45 IBU, $4, nonic glass. A blackish-brown stout with a light brown head. As expected roasted malt is in the nose, and a scent that reminds me of grain alcohol. The perception of oil makes me what to state that it feels that way, but it's really just super heavy. The flavor consists of full roast coffee and burnt caramel. Decent beer, sub par for style, pretty good quality to price ratio.
3.3 Dark fruit/coffee/chocolate aroma, I wish it were stronger. Flat black with no head. Tastes roasty, surprisingly malty for an imperial stout, no hops, kind of a funky aftertaste. Decent palate, low carbonation and smooth, but a little on the thin side. This was $3.99 so a great bargain but just a so-so stout.
3.2 Imperial stour in cui dominano note di cioccolato fondente, melassa, salsa di soia, caramello. Non un must, ma si lascia bere
3.1 Holy! Abv of 9.9! Great, strong, stouty beer! Really thick and smooth. Be careful...sucker will get you! Lol.
3.8 Bottle, december 4th 2017. Black body with a tiny brown head. Aroma of leather, smoked ham, dark chocolate. Taste is roasted, coffee, with cocoa and caramel. Speet and alcoholic finish, with a lasting sweet licorice and roast aftertaste.
4.1 The smell is chocolate, dark fruit, the taste it better sweet chocolate, rasains, plums, the ABV helps give it that malty/sweetness that helps mellow the bitterness. I found this for $3.99, this has to be one of the best deals ever for a strong stout. One of the best bang for your buck.
3.8 Bottle. Black with small brown head. Roasted, vanilla and coffee. Some bitter chocolate in the aftertaste. Medium body. Good aftertaste.
3.0 This is... well, not good! Sort of like a poor man's imperial! Flavor profile is all over the place! Vegetables and fuel! with some decent roast in there. No sir, not for me. At least the quality corresponded to the price! 22oz bomber around $5
4.0 Bottle from Safeway, SF. Dark brown. Nose is chocolate, roast, light vanilla, liquorice, nuts. Tastes roast, chocolate, light vanilla, coffee, dark fruits.
