Lagunitas Lucky 13.alt

Blonde version of Lucky 13, released in 2011 and 2012.
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first brewhouse in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers- The Noble Brewer of the planet’s only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon’s Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero’s path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on it’s path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specialty breweed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering.

3.8 Bottle. Poured hazy amber color with a finger of head and nice lace. Piney sweet aromas. Quite smooth with slightly bitter taste. Good amount of hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.4 In short: A sweet golden ale, honeyed and fruity juice with mild bitterness. Ok beer. How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed relatively fresh one month after purchase. The look: Crystal clear golden body topped by medium off-white head quickly dissipating to a small layer of foam leaving lots of lacings on the glass. In long: Nose is moderately hoppy (fruity hop character very much like sweet apricots) along with honeyed cereals. Taste has a lot of oily cereals, honeyed pastry, mangos, sweet apricots, kiwis, a bit of caramel. Rather sweet beer upfront with the sweetness feeling very much sweet canned fruit juice and somehow not very much cereals sweetness. Bitterness is barely enough to balance the fruity-juicy-sweetness. Not a superb beer but you can’t go wrong with this $4.49 bomber, not many tasty cheap bombers anymore. I drank my Luck 13 bottle, then opened an umbrella indoors under a ladder, kicked my black cat and then threw my Lucky 13 bottle and crashed my mirror, I just don’t tempt fate, I sit on its face.
4.1 Pours burnt orange, white head, decent lacing. Smells of sweet pine and a little orange. Taste is very smooth, citrus, orange, pine, and slightly sweet with nice maltiness. I didn’t know what this was based off of the bottle but figured I’d gamble. Nice beer, great price, easy access; can’t ask more than that.
3.9 Bottle - Aroma fills the room with cloves, piney hops, orange and a nice malty sweetness. Clear gold with a thick white head. Citrus and a little resin with some caramel in the mix. Mild bitterness that tapers nicely, without any showing of the alcohol.
4.0 Appearance was clear gold with creamy diminishing off white 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are sweet malts, fruits of citrus and juices, no alcohol present. Taste are soft sweet malts, floral juices of apricots, grapefruit, lemon, orange with spices. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with meduim body, then lasting citrusy malty finish. A beautiful American Strong or IPA ?
3.7 On tap 1/2 pint at Gilly's Craft Beer & Fine Wine in Rockville, MD. Clear, bright golden amber with 2-finger ivory head and excellent lacing. Aroma of citrus, pine, pineapple and butterscotch. Taste of citrus, pine, yeast and caramel malt. Medium/full body with medium/high carbonation. Nice mouthfeel.

3.9 Pint bottle. Pours a hazy gold with modest head. Beautiful lacing. Aroma of hops, pine, bread, florals. Taste is out of this world. Serious hops, but not bitter. The overwhelming floral scents with some citrus, pine, light spices, etc. make the palate on down very worthwhile. Delicate finish with fresh aftertaste. Very very good.
(Rating #4606)
3.5 Golden pour, remnants of the head lingers nicely. Aroma of pine and sour fruit, like apricot. Good mouthfeel, sour apricot and bitterness initially that fades to a phenolic alcohol. I like the start, but the ending is rather new for me and I’m not sure how much I like it.
3.0 Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a foamy white head that lasts a good long while. Aroma is nice heavy hop notes with citrus and pine with some sweet malt and caramel mixed in. Flavor is very bittersweet that has a moderate duration with notes of sweet malt while the hops are not as present but still there with a slight woody note. Mouthfeel is full with decent carbonation. Overall a solid beer.
3.9 Type: 22-oz. bomber Glass: Lagunitas mason jar From: Clem’s Bottle House and Deli Price: $5.99 Misc.: N/A Poured a caramel orange clear color with two fingers of white head. Nice uneven, foamy lacing all the way down. Decent retention as well. Smelled a refreshing surprise of hops up front. Got very sweet floral hops first. Also pine, citrus, sharp, but light grapefruit, lemon, light lime and orange peel. Basically smelled like a floral IPA. Tasted similar to the smell, which is a good thing. Still reminded me or an IPA more than an American Strong Ale. Got those sweet, sugar floral hops. Nice bitterness on the tongue after. Citrus, lemon, lime, pine, sharp grapefruit. Very good. Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. Really liked this beer. I really didn’t even know what type it was when I bought it and found out home when I checked Beer Advocate (hiding the rating with my hand of course). Another good beer from Lagunitas.
3.7 Very fresh sweet smell of barley. Golden transparent and very fesh looking. Very good taste of sweet barley and hops. Nice mouthfeel. All over a very good beer. A well-tasting beer which is very good with a light meal
3.3 Small white head that disappears quickly. Clear light golden liquid. Hops and caramel in the nose. Rich and thick mouthfeel. Fruity hoppy taste.
3.9 Bottle at ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to Henrik! Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Lots of caramel and juicy pine on the nose. Medium to big sweet flavor, big bready malts, caramel, ripe orange, pine. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish with toasty caramel, further pine, toasty grass, some berries, ripe citrus. Very tasty, very drinkable. Another good one from the Petaluma boys.
3.9 Gedronken met dutchdrebus, goudgele kleur, Hoppig, grassig, lijkt op ipa, goede carbo,
3.9 Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Henrik, 30/12/12. Lightly hazed mid golden with a thin white head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is hops, pine, caramel malts. Taste follows, bitter pine, grapefruit, caramel malt, touch of biscuit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and some hop bitterness in the finish. Decent stuff.
3.6 (bottle) Nice thick foamy head along with persistent white lacing on glass. Understated aroma. Hops dominate flavor with pine and some grapefruit elements. IBU seems higher than 77 at times yet fairly smooth. A hop bomb.
3.8 Bottle at Chriso tasting new year 2012/13. Clear orange gold lasting white head. good as a lot of lagunitas beers are lots of hops. good veer love the hops. really drinkable
3.5 Bottle 22fl.oz. @ Tasting by Benzai [ ZZT V ]. Clear medium amber orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, light wood - spruce. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, hoppy, malty, light wood. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20121006]
3.8 Bottle: Poured a copper color with a finger off white carbonated head. Aroma was strong leafy malt and hops. Nice strong hops forward that subsides to leave a balanced malt and dry tongue finish.
3.4 pours golden clear copper orange, smallish foamy head, good retention, sticky lacing, lots of active streams. Strong citrus aromas and an IPA hoppy nose. Drinks with a nice fruity 7/10-sweetness, medium-soft bitter orange peel bitterness up front, sharp-soft hops, creamy-light fizz mouthfeel, tangerine, mango, pine, malts, finishing sharp bitttery hoppy. Medium complexity, medium depth, good transitions, good carry, decent drinkability. After many sips this one weighs on the palate.
3.8 I tried this actually before ever trying the original Lucky 13. Overall this is a good strong ale.
3.9 bomber from consumers beverages in niagara falls. shared with jeff and joel. deep orange, tan head. huge hoppy nose. full malt body, tons of hop flavour. i have no idea how this isnt listed as an IIPA. nice beer.
4.0 Mostly clear orange yellow, frothy off white head fades leaving soapy stepped lacing. Pungent pine citrus hop aroma. Bold pine hop taste up front, well balanced with a more subdued caramel malt background, moderately bitter. Average carbonation, medium bodied, well hopped. Piney hops linger in the finish. IPA-ers will like this. Lah-Goo-Knee-Tuss continues to impress. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
3.8 Bottle (bomber) from Systembolaget. Clear amber with some tiny floaters, medium white head. Perfumy and piney hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with firm bitternes. Nice!
3.6 Bottle. Pours clear orange amber with a large off-white head and decent lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, bread. Flavor is about the same, more of a caramel base, lightly sweet and light to medium bitter with a lingering bitter finish that gets stronger in the far finish.
3.7 Malt is borderline lagery. Very strong hop. Pine oil and citrus is very "sharp." The color is clear golden yellow. Massive head. Minor, slow carbonation. You’d never know how heavy this baby is. The malts are heavy and sugary; toffee and puckery cherry. The aftertaste is pungent. Feels thick and chunky and buttery. Just this side of a barleywine. Somehow it’s a bit too much.
3.3 Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks Dad! Hazy orange pour with nice lacing white head, aroma brought notes of nice caramel, toffee, hints of earth, grain, touch of orange, grapefruit notes in there, pretty sweet. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, some grass, slight earthy and spicy notes, some orange, finishing sweet, slightly dry. Decent.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a dark golden color with a longlasting whit ehead. Has a fruity piney hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter piney flavor. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish.
