Lagunitas New DogTown Pale Ale

This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

3.4 July 27th, 2015 - New Dog Town looks a great deal like Sumpin' Sumpin', but it conceals a dramatically different flavor profile. For one, it's much happier and deeper on the nose, with a much sweeter depth to it. For another, the flavor has a lighter palate, and comes across as significantly sweeter, anchored in a brown sugar and cinnamon taste. More sipping shows off some grapefruit juice and strawberry too. It's a sweeter drink, and based on the beer descriptions I'm beginning to suspect I mixed up the Sumpin' and the New Dog Town. Hmm...

3.5 Fruity aroma, tropical fruits, grapefruit and some citrus fruits. The taste is sweet with a bitter end. Aroma fruttato, frutti tropicali, pompelmo e alcuni agrumi. Il sapore è dolce con un finale amaro.

3.9 Kolor pomarańczowo bursztynowy, prawie klarowny. Piana wieńcząca piwo od góry jest biała, wysoka i bardzo trwała. Fantastycznie oblepia ścianki kieliszka. Aromat intensywnie owocowy, wiodące są liczi, mandarynki, ananas, po delikatnym ogrzaniu wychodzą nuty iglaste, żywiczne. Smak jest podobnie wyraźny i mocny, ponownie mnóstwo owoców, ananas, grapefruit, liczi, mandarynki i wiele wiele więcej. Nuty żywiczne dopełniają smak, dodają trochę zadziorności. Goryczka grapefruitowa, mocna i długa. Wysycenie średnie pasuje. Ciało średnie, piwo jest miękkie, pije się szybko.

3.8 Bottle from Beer Republic. Aroma is fruity and piney hops with tropical fruits, grapefruit, pine resin, malt, and some citrus. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Body is medium. Solid APA, well-hopped with plenty of grapefruit and pine.

3.8 Pours hazy golden with a thick white head. Aroma of pine and resin. Tastes like spruce-y hops with a resinous finish. Palate includes lemongrass, spruce and toasted malt.

3.9 Flaska 355 ml från Systembolaget ABV 5,9%. Guldfärgad med fint luftigt skum som lägger sig som en hinna på ytan och på insidan av glaset. Fruktig och frisk doft med humle. Rejäl beska, smak av humle, apelsin, honung och tallbarr. En av de absolut bästa ölen av den här sorten som du kan köpa på Systembolaget om man ser till vad man får för pengarna, mycket prisvärd.

2.9 Nice light pale Ale. Reminds me a lot of other variants from Lagunitas.

3.6 bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma fine bianca media persistenza, colore oro limpido, al naso è ottima equilibrata malto agrumi frutta tropicale, in bocca caramello maracuja agrumi, corpo leggero, carbonazione leggera, amaro deciso, secca nel finale. Non è il mio stile. Ma non me lo sarei mai aspettato, un'ottima birra. 05.08.18

2.7 Pours a yellow gold color. Two fingers white head. Good retention, good lacing. Light suspended floaties in it. Aroma is wet hay and sweat. Taste is wet hay, and sweat. Not really bitter, or hoppy or malty. It’s just there. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. A little watery. Lightly bitter. Not exactly drinkable, because it has no flavor. Overall it’s a disappointment. Lagunitas usually puts out great stuff but something went wrong here. I don’t recommend it and I would not buy it again.

3.4 Oklart att jag inte rate:at denna tidigare. Ljusguldig, klar med vit krona. Gräsigt, fruktigt, citrus, grape, granskott. Bra beska. Något lättare kropp.

3.6 Bottle. Light golden, almost cristal clear, with pretty big and solid white head, not bad lacing. Light to medium citrus and a bit herbal aromas. Pretty dry but not watery, medium but herbal bitterness in the finish. Decent.

3.6 Birra dal colore dorato Schiuma bianca fine e persistente. All'olfatto sentori di frutta esotica. Al palato leggera e nel finale rimane amara ed erbacea. Una buona birra.

3.6 APA ben fatta, dorata limpida schiuma sottile bianca di discreta persistenza, aroma maltato e floreale-erbaceo, al palato un buon amaro lungo tutta la bevuta, abbastanza limitato all'erbaceo con una buona dose di malto. carbonazione media, buon corpo.

4.0 Bottled 0,355L. Golden limpid color, poor bubbly aspect with good creamy white head of long duration. Fresh and very citric and hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit, soft caramel, cortex, resin. Equilibrate and pleasant alcoholic mouth, equilibrate bitter/sweet citric and hop taste, grapefruit and mandarin palate, plesant hoppy and cortex final. Thanks to Marzo Z. for this one.

3.6 Some pale ales are just eh to me, but I really like the style when I find a good one. This is up there with the solid APAs. It's not as malty and/or hoppy as some of the other lags, but thats assumed with pale ales. Still has a good hop bite at the end, but not as bitter as an IPA, and not as citrusy either. Clear light orange appearance, the color of their IPAs, maybe a little lighter and definitely more watery (less malt). Smooth mouthfeel because of this......6.4% decent kick too for a pale ale. I would get this again, for daytime or filler beer....but nothing super exciting here compared to all their other beers that they brew.

3.3 Golden color, medium sized beige head. Aromas of caramel, pine, citrus, grass and dough. Bitter taste with pine needles, grass, citrus and bread.

3.4 Copenhagen 30/1-2018. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny. Sad looking Dog on the label together with Lagunitas' slogan: "Life is Uncertain, Don't Sip!". Pours hazy orange with big white head. Settles as creamy, fluffy layer of foam crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing. Aroma is strong and fruity. Sweet exotic fruit like peach and mango, resin, pine and some citric notes lurking in the background. Fairly strong carbonation and slightly thick and a little bit greasy palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by strong bitterness. A little thin. Aftertaste is bitter and finish is semi-dry. Quite ok - even though a little generic.
