3.2bottle. notes went downhill. Pours a clear amber orange with a small white head. notes of bread, sweet malts, and caramel. Not sure how old this bottle was, but it seemed thinned out and breadier than the last time I had this beer.
3.7Maybe this is a stupid thing to say but why is this classified as an ASA when it says cream ale on the bottle and in the description - is it the abv? Anyways the pour is very lovely: really orangey clear amber color with a great 2 finger off-white head that lasted a bit and is now hovering at about a 1/2 inch. Already starting to lace. Lots of carbonation bubbles zooming to the top with some yeast floating around a bit. Aroma isn’t very strong and upfront but you get some sweet malts and resinous hops. Flavor is not as sweet or hoppy as the smell would indicate. Dry across the palate. There’s a flavor I can’t pick out here. The dryness of the palate is complemented a roasted malt quality. A great beer, a great summer beer.
3.7Bottle. Clear golden body, with a medium offwhite head. Aroma is hops, pine and other sweet fruit. Flavor is the same. pleasent bitterness. Well carbonated.
3.3I remember this being one of my favorite beers at the time I was down in Charleston, don’t know why i didn’t rate it until now. Will have to try and pick up a bottle next time around.
4.0Deeelish :) I really enjoyed this beer. This one was creamy, sweet, malty, with fruit flavors. It was a nice amber color with a medium white head. Aroma was sweet and malty. Very tasty :) I love this beer.
3.712 oz. bottle at PBF. Copper-amber color with creamy head. Sweet, fruity, flowery and hoppy aroma with notes of mango. Bittersweet, toffeish, nutty, mangoish and orangey flavor. Tasty tropical fruity hop character.
3.6Bottled at PBF. Clear golden, medium sized airy head. Conensed sweaty lychee aroma. Sweet and malty. Buttery malt wrapped in a thick blanket of hops. Hop driven despite solid body. Long perfumy bitterness.
3.4Medium amber color with medium head. Malt sweetness dominates. Little hop flavor. Solid body.
3.2Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is lots of fruity and flowery hops. Flavour is caramel malts, some sweet fruityness as well as some mild grainy notes. Balanced. Grassy finish.
3.5burnt orange with decent french vanilla head. Malts and sugars dominate the flavor profile but there is some earthy hopiness going on backstage and it makes a curtain call in the finish
3.7(Bottled) Slightly hazy amber with a very small head. Aroma is strong in both maltiness and nutty-aromatic hops - maybe slightly stuffy. Flavor of nutty hops, some dried fruit, grainy malt. Medium to full body, low carbonation. A solid strong ale with pleasant hopping.
3.1Bottled (PBF).
Clear pale amber color, small white head. Bready hoppy aroma. Starts light and metallic ... then bready hoppy. Very simple, fruity hoppy, almost APA-like flavor.
3.0Source:Sample at a tasting in Nashville.
Glass:Snifter.
Appearance:Poured a hazy orange color with a thin beige head.
Aroma:Caramel malt and floral hops.
Flavor:Sweet malt dominates, with a mild bitter finish.
Palate:Medium/full body with mild carbonation.
Overall:Kind of disjointed with some different flavors that don’t mesh well with each other.
3.6Pours an orangish amber with a lot of hoppy aroma. Flavor is rich malts with plenty of hops to balance it out. Not what I was expecting from a string cream ale, but good.
3.1Pours a surprising amber/copper color with a good amount of carbonation.
Very bitter with hops, with some syrupy malt. Not that well balanced.
This isnt a bad beer, but it also wasnt what I was planning on drinking.
3.4Bottle. Pours golden amber with a small head. Sweet caramel and grapefruit on the nose. Slightly sweet with a slight hop bitterness with a hint of berry. Creamy finish with a mild alcohol burn
3.4Crushed with Jakebra. Plenty of hops and malt in good balance. Some minimal poop makes it slightly unpleasant, but overall a decent brew. On par and difficult to differentiate between other Lagunitas strong ales.
3.6This is a good beer. A little more hoppy then I thought it would be. Its got a nice creamy/smooth feel. Would be a nice beer to watch the game with
3.3Shared with Steve. They call it a strong ale but it really isnt. More hoppy than a strong ale, more like an APA or IPA. However I did like the creamy texture on the palate.
3.4Bottle.
Slightly hazy, medium size yellowish head. Citrusy hoppy aroma but it tastes more of german hops.
I would have labled it a APA.
3.6Pours clear amber orange color with reddish hues, with a nice white head and decent lacing. Aroma consists of unique hops, orange citrus, also some subtle roasted malts. Flavor follow with a nice bite of hops and carbonation with a less than bitter finish and lingering sweetness. Unique, drinkable and tasty.
3.3Bottle: Poured a orange with a fluffy off white head. Aroma is caramel malts and hops. Taste is soft creamy malt, finish is bitter hops.
3.4Aroma: Really different nose, not something I can compare to anything I’ve tried recently.
Appearance: Poors a nice orange color, with a lasting creamy head.
Flavor: Taste is sweet and hoppy, certainly worth a drink.
4.0bottle. clear dark orange, huge thick lasting light orange head. looks real good.
arona is strong, i could easily sense it while pouring. sweet, hoppy, caramel, citrussy notes. after sitting a little while, the aroma gets a little more bitter, and a little more cellary.
flavor is smooth, hoppy , slightly spicy, caramelly, sweet, ends sweet and bitter in a good mix. mouthfeel is soo soft. everything about thsi beer is great. not first time lagunitas made something i really like a lot.
3.5Copper color with a medium white head. Slightly fruity, caramel aroma. Flavor of brown sugar and caramel. Nice malty mouth feel.
3.82/1/09 - Bottle. Pours orange/amber with eggshell, foamy head, dissipating to a lacing foam. Lovely nose of caramel, toffee and brown sugar. Sweet and tasty, caramel, toffee, brown sugar with a solid bitter and hop flavor. A nice little barley wine type thing.
3.6a- pours a light orange hue, two fingers of creamy white head, large and active particles with good lacing throughout
s- nose is dominated by sweet citrus hops (mostly orange), some subtle pine and grass tones
t- surprisingly bitter hoppiness for a cream ale, but nicely balanced with smooth malts, warming alcohol sensation, bitter and lasting aftertaste
m- medium-bodied, slightly oily with lively carbonation
d- i found this to be a strong, hoppy beer that is uncharacteristic of this genre, fairly smooth, but I wouldn’t drink more than a few in a sitting
3.5Light amber in color with a decent head. Very much like an IPA more than a cream ale. Hoppy with some citrus. Crisp with some slight caramel.
3.0Bottle...dark golden color with a small off white head...sweet light malt aroma...it drinks wonderful for a 7% beer...sweet and tangy with a nice medium body...good brew, simple and clean, very drinkable
3.3Sampled at the Second Cellar Reduction. 12 oz bottle. Clear orange pour with wispy white thin head. Honey with a hint of spruce aroma. Flavor is semi-sweet grain, some alcohol, and floral hops. Medium syrupy body with medium carbonation. Piney hop finish. I was very pleasantly suprised with this one.
