3.6 On tap at the brewery taproom. Sparse rating notes: wheat, bread, yeast perfume, lemon citrus, herbal, bubblegum, drinkable - 7.2
3.1 Draught at Lagunitas Brewery. Rather pale gold with foamy lace. Yeasty fruit aroma, a bit raw. Dry flavor—malty and bready, with wheat, yeasty, with an ok hoppy finish. An ok saison, but the yeast weighs it down. Nicely dry, though.
3.7 draft @ redlight redlight! Thanks to Lagunitas for sending this to Florida! Herbal, minty aroma with a sweet musty aroma. Pours golden blonde with a thick white head. Citrusy upfront with bready malts and a minty herbal yeasty flavor with a crisp finish. Pretty damn tasty!
3.2 Draft at taproom... Dark gold with a bit if orange, bright white head, great coated head... Really light nose but its nice, lemon herbal a bit of sourness, solid... The taste is much more herbal a bit to much, strong, sourness is gone, but solid
3.0 Sampled at taproom. Pale yellow with white head. Bubblegum, farmhouse funk (mild), wheat. Slightly sweet, well carbonated, dry on the finish, not well balanced though and a very weak saison.
2.2 Copper color, effervescent, nice head. A hint of fruit hops in aroma. Moderate hop flavor, grassy. I think to much caramel flavor. Medium body, dry finish. I don’t care for this one.
3.3 Sampled at the taproom on 8/6/10. Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Funky and herbal aroma with some malt; very saison-like. Flavor is very sweet malt with funk and herbs on the finish. Solid and the nose and not bad on the flavor, but could tone down on the sweetness.
2.9 22 oz. bottle from Jax in Cumming, GA. Gave this a lot of time to warm up that way I don’t miss anything. Poured nice haze orange color with a thin wispy head. It (the head) was very fluffy at first, but quickly receded. Slight sour-ish yeast aroma. Not very pungent or nuanced. A light wine/grape aroma comes to the nose, but nothing extraordinary is going on here. Light fruit aroma with sugar and yeast. The light grape flavor reminds me of artificial fruit juice. This is hitting the verge of becoming almost triple-like to me. Doesn’t really scream "Saison". Very smooth texture. Just too weak and boring for me to actually give a shit about this one.
2.7 Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for a saison, or maybe it just wasn’t a very good beer but this was just so-so with me. Out of the body, the beer has a light golden body, clear and a thin 1/2" sudsy head. Citrusy and bready in the aroma followed by some light spicyness. Sugary and slightly lemony on the palate, it reminded me of some kind of lemony shortbread cookie.
4.0 grapefruit, berries, bready, earthy, banana esters... toast, light caramel, fragrant hops, citrusy, floral... malty, belgian yeast... substantial bitterness...
1.7 hazed honey yellow, small white head, no retention. perfumed mess. extremely thin and watery body, flabby carbonation, aspirin and nutrisweet flavored malt, potpourri spices. gross.
3.0 On tap at Bottleworks. Cool that I can sip while I shop. Guess drinking and buying is OK. Amber with a fair head. Belgian flavour but too thick for a summer beer and no spice or funk.
2.8 On tap at Bottleworks. I was not a fan of this one. Pours a crazy light golden color, with a small head. It has a bigger aroma than it has flavor. Wheat, some bitter fruit esters, and... tonic water? Mineral / metallic taste. Aroma is decent, but it fails beyond that.
3.6 Athens, Ga - Five Points Bottle Shop - 22 oz bomber. Medium orange pour, white forth head that leaves good lacing. Pleasant aroma of lemon and yeast. Flavor is thirst quenching with a nice lemon zest, some mild spiciness and and underlying yeast with a slight hint of citrus. Clean, crisp mouthfeel. Very good.
2.5 Draft at BT. Pours a pale golden body with a white lacing. A musky damp floral body and some dried fruit and apricot. Light spice notes and then this rotten apple and tin notes. Not good.
3.1 Tap. After having the pinot barrel aged version this beer was a let down. Alright flavor barely any aroma. Wondering how this was even the same beer at any point in time.
3.1 Tap at BT. Pours a mostly clear straw golden with a nice lasting thin white head. Aroma is intenesely fresh bready malts, almsto a warm biscuit toastiness, with some light belgian yeasty phenols and light spice. Flavor is a bit on the sweet side, honey, toasty, warm biscuit bready getting a bit too big and sweet, spices, and phenols in the background and some earthy yeast. Finish is a bit too sweet, and doesnt have the belgian yeast saison kick to it. Meh.
2.8 Stinky aroma of toasted malts, barnyard stench, some spices. The appearance is gold, white head. The flavor is a toasted malt, clove, other spices, and it has a spicy finish. Thin to medium mouthfeel. Not bad, taste better than it smells.
3.8 on tap from taphouse - seattle. yeasty and fruity nose with a sweet taste. not too spicy for a saison, but enjoyable on its own.
3.1 On Tap. Pours a clear golden with a small lasting head. Malty citrus fruit on the nose. Sweet citrus fruit with a bit of a floral undertone and slightly spicy. Not really a saison but...
2.5 ~Pours a light gold color with little to no head. ~Scent of corriander and yeast. ~Frity apple like flavor with lots of yeasty notes. ~Medium to light feel. Strange aftertaste. ~I didn’t care too much for this one.
4.4 welcome back sweetheart .. . honey .. . smooth and sweet .. . some cereal and honey in the mouth .. light golden color .. . this is awesome stuff .. a fine brew indeed . .
3.5 Draft at Kuma’s Corner. I actually thought at first it was Hop Stoopid again, but unfortunately it wasn’t. Pours a clear pale yellow with a sticky head. Nose is spicy and yeasty with a light graininess. Bananas dominate, followed by some citrus as well. Taste is pretty straight forward simple saison, a lot like Cynic. Light and easy to drink. Okay.
3.9 Draft at Jerry’s. Clear golden with big, foamy white head / Nose of orange peel and spice / Light to medium body, low carbonation, dry, with good balance and finish / Flavors of grain, orange peel, bubblegum, cloves, and coriander / Very good, but lacking the Belgian body to compliment the bold fruit and spice flavors. More like a cross between a pils and a wit.
3.0 Pours hazy deep gold with 1-finger well retained off-white head. Nose is earthy, with honey, apricot, pale malt, not much funk noted. Flavor is pale malt, honey, some dull earthy florals, and finishing tannic British bitter/mild flavor notes. Not well balanced, nor dry, floral, spicy, or funky enough to pique my interest. Not a great saison.
2.3 Bottle labeled at 6% ABV (not 5.2%). When opened, an immediate unpleasant skunkiness escapes...uh-oh. Pours with a small, fizzy white head over a clear yellow body. Head has completely faded with-in 30 seconds. Aroma is grassy and light struck. Toasted grain and soggy wheat following with a hint of orange peel and pepper. Taste is soggy cereal finishing metallicy with a spicy wheat note. Not enjoyable, and nothing about this says saison to me. Fizzy and dry.
3.2 22oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed medium golden color with a 2 finger off white head. Faint nose of farmhouse funk and Belgian yeast. Flavor was barnyard with light clove and yeast. Finish was crisp and quick.
3.2 Clear light gold with a small, tight, white head. Sweet candy malt aroma, some yeast. Slightly tart dryness over a mildly sweet base. A touch of spice. Uncomplicated, simple beer.
3.4 Draft @ Lagunitas Brewing Company. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a malty yeasty spicy citrus aroma. Malty yeasty spicy flavor with some hints of citrus. Has a fruity malty yeasty spicy finish.
3.4 Slightly cloudy yellow, nice fluffy white ehad. Clean, citusy aroma. Flavor is a bit winey, some citrusy notes, and a lot of herbal character, as well.
