Lagunitas Super Cluster

This out-of-this-world ale is a galactic blast from the glass, a Citra supernova in the sky, jettisoning lupulin lusciousness through the cosmos and across the universe of your palate. Enter its bitter orbit and we'll all float on, okay? Cheers!

3.4 Not a bad IPA. A bit musty. Mostly tropical fruit hops. A touch of citrus. Picked up a can in 2020 at Beertopia.
4.5 Bright and delicious with a perfectly clean finish.
3.1 Smells of basement and hops.. stanky... Tastes like syrupy earthy hops.. not bad.. not grea.t
3.8 12oz bottle courtesy of Headbanger poured into a Shaker. Color is a deep gold with a slight haze and good carbonation giving it a thin tight white head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy with tropical fruit notes. It has a lighter medium body with a crisp mouthfeel. Flavor has a sweet malt base with nice fruit flavors coming in with a bright citrus bitterness. Aftertaste is more bitterness, a hint of alcohol and the citrus holds on. Overall this is a nice Double IPA, it's very drinkable for a double.
3.7 Pours clear deep gold into a shaker. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Mango and scallion aromas. Soft with earthy caramel, resin and pith upfront turning to continued deep, dark pith and resin in the lasting finish.
3.5 A little on the bland side, but balanced.
3.8 Quarantine Beer #102 sampled at home on 05/01/2020. Clear dark golden color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Herbal hop, tropical fruit and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, grapefruit and bready malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
3.3 On tap at Taco Mac. Orange yellow opaque appearance. Fizzy white head mostly vanished. Mango aroma. Slightly soapy. Fruit hops, melon, grass and rind. Malt character does little to make this one stand out. Moderately creamy palate. An average double IPA.
3.5 12 oz can, poured clear golden, ok white head. Medium bodied. Pine and caramel aroma. Grapefruit peel taste with malt backbone, bitter slightly boozy finish.
3.5 fuller body frothy and substantial. rife with grapefruit hop with a bit of rind for added sharpness. broom straw and finish in funky tang. alcohol is big but does not seem so. light pine cannot compete in here.
3.4 Golden orange color thick foamy head smell of grapefruit malts hops taste is bitter not to much hops
3.7 Clear blond colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour are typical of an old style American IPA. Slightly floral and resinous. Lasting bitter finish. Background citrus notes.
3.2 Pours amber with a thick white head. Aroma of grapefruit and grassy malt. Taste has malted hops, centennial hops, pine. Palate has lemongrass, continued pine resin. Good, classic Lagunitas.
3.8 12 oz can. Appearance pours clear dark gold with a medium frothy white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass some. The aroma is big resiny piney hops with a little mint and fruit. The flavor is sweet caramel malt with fruit and a big resiny piney hop finish. The palate is medium bodied with low carbonation and is a little watery. Overall, a nice DIPA but might be better on draft.
4.0 Very nice beer. Poured medium ambr decent head but didn't hang on Lacing was moderate Mouth feel pretty good carbonation good. Aroma slight citrus Grapefruit and orange forefront and nice bitter finish. No malty taste to screw it up. A darn fine beer. Cool looking can too. Will keep on hand
3.4 Credit where it’s due for Lagunitas, then tend to deliver craft beer of reasonable quality at a good price point - that’s about what I can say for this beer: it’s a double ipa of reasonable quality at a good price point - there is often something hollow in the heart of a Lagunitas beer, though - this beer is no exception - it satisfies the desire for hop bitterness, but depth is just not there - that’s the thing about their beer: it’s paint by numbers craft beer that is always just a couple numbers short of making a really interesting painting - the “good enough” craft beer.
4.0 12 oz. can from Total Wine, Raleigh, NC (North Hills). No date given on the can or the cardboard packaging, just a bunch of numbers that meant nothing to me, however this appeared to be new so I purchased it anyway. Yellowish-orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit peel, toasted malt, and freshly cut grass. Taste is refreshingly bitter with pithy grapefruit and tangerine upfront and a sturdy malt backbone. Bitterness lingers somewhat on the palate before giving way to more of the citrus flavor profile. A nicely done DIPA.
3.9 Definitely a nice West coast DIPA. Lots of sharp pine and some citrus. Golden pour with decent head. Light caramel but pretty dry on that front. Bitter end. Some grapefruit like old-school breakfast spoons. Can
3.5 Can. Pours clear gold with a white head. Tropical fruit, grapefruit, resin. Good.
3.5 355ml can. Golden pour, dank hoppy aroma, flavor is sweetish but not overly so, tropical and dank, pretty typical lagunitas brew, but actually better than a lot of hazy ipas.
3.8 12 oz can. Pours clear dark gold witha medium frothy white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass some. The aroma is big resiny piney hops with a little mint and fruit. The flavor is sweet caramel malt with fruit and a big resiny piney hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and is a little watery.. Overall, a nice DIPA. I remember liking it more on draft.
3.9 Can from Kroger. Nose big grassy, resin, tropical fruit. Taste light bitter, resin, mango, light grass.
3.8 Puts a clear golden-copper with a white foam head. Aroma is citrus, fruit, stone fruits, resin, and floral hops. Flavor is bitter hops - citrus, grapefruit, pine, and floral hops. Solid.
3.6 Bright, hoppy smell to it, a little unusual, not the usual piney scent. Medium body, not a strong taste, finishes very dry. Clean taste, somewhat refreshing despite the 8% abv. Easy drinking, but the bitterness kind of builds up. This is not a complex beer, but I do like it. It's solid all around, no funny flavors or gimmicks.
3.6 7MAR2020. LIB'20, tap. Donker goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Typisch oldskool DIPA, hars, caramel, dennen, redelijk zoet, wiet. Medium body. Prima.
3.8 12 oz can pours an orange color with a small white head. Aromas of resin, pine, caramel. Full bodied, very nicely balanced, a great beer.
4.0 Pours a clear golden orange from the can with fluffy off-white foam that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of dank resinous citrus hop notes over a light caramel and a touch of booze. Taste follows, great west coast IPA dankness, with just enough booze. They call it mega and it's not quite there, but really tasty.
3.9 From a 12 fl. oz. can that is stamped on the bottom with 299-9-2. It is a handsome looking golden pour with a lingering head, slow upwardly mobile bubbles, and excellent clarity. I pick up citrus and tropical fruit on the nose with a lower profile white bred character. Smooth, medium mouthfeel. Sweet then fruity in the taste with a nice lingering hoppy finish. No booze for 8%.
3.5 Spicy hop nose, flavor is mustard greens and horseradish, spicy bitter hops, weird beer, would drink again
4.0 Served up at Blue Door on campus. Pint glass. Lighter golden orange color. Minimal head...maybe quarter finger size. Nose is citrus rind with some floral notes. Taste feels more traditional West Coast double IPA leans into its hoppy bitterness. Nice oily mouthfeel with cloying finish. Alcohol presence well hidden. Very good option.
