Lake Louie Warped Speed

Lake Louie Warped Speed

Brewed in the classic Scotch Ale style dating back to the 1700’s, with a deep reddish brown color. Full of body, sweetness and flavor. Higher in alcohol content but possessing a smooth and lightly hopped finish. Best served at 45 degrees F in a room temperature pint glass. For the ’Big Beer’ drinkers among us.

3.8 Bottle. Raisin/cherry, light vinegar, caramel malt and straw aroma. Dark chestnut brown with large tan head. Moderately sweet raisin, caramel malt, and moderately bitter herbal hay/alcohol flavor. Nice body. Tasty.
3.4 Light grain and cereal malts, light caramel. Clear, dark amber, small, creamy, off-white head. Intense caramel, biscuit, come coffee, dry, toasted malts, lively carbonation. Very nice palate, yet aroma is way too weak. Keg at The Old Fashioned, Madison, WI.
3.7 bottle to pint glass. poured a mahogany red color with off white head. slight lacing on the glass. the aroma is lightly roasted malts, caramel, slight toffee, the flavor is more of the same. this is a basic straight up scotch ale nothing fancy just a middle of the road solid flavor of a scotch ale. nice caramel sweet malt flavor tinges of toffee and slightly roasted malts. very drinkable and delicious.
4.1 Taste: rich, semi sweet, malty, chocolate notes, spiced. roasty nose. Brown mostly clear with foamy head. Medium/full body. Pair well with many dishes.
3.6 7/4/20 Aroma: Rich dark roasted malt aroma with strong flavors of cracked malts and raw grains. The malts are predominant, with low levels of black coffee and toffee. The hops are not noticable. Appearance: Color is dark brown with red highlights, the head is thick and creamy in appearance with mostly tiny bubbles and a couple medium to small scattered throughout. Retention is strong, and lacing is moderate. Flavor: Rich toffee initially, with strong toasted malt flavors. A touch of fruit is also noted, faint dark cherry, the hops crisp the body making it not heavy and a light amount of bitterness and even a little curious. Balance is malty, finish is almost watery but leans to sweet with the aftertaste of toasted grains. Mouthfeel: Thick mouthfeel, medium carbonation (pours high but dissipated quickly) , low alcohol warmth. Is not creamy, and low astringency from the bittering hops. Overall: A few years of drinking this, and I still enjoy this beer. It's rich and malty, with enough hop balance to really even this beer out and make it a very enjoyable sipping beer. 2/20/2016 From the bottle of the pour is clear and is very dark auburn in color, the head is an off white almost brown that lingers at a medium thickness, the aroma is very light scotch malts a little bit of barley, the taste is Carmel with some roasted barley notes, the finish is smooth creamy with a medium to thick mouthfeel
4.4 Malty as a scotch ale should be. Slightly dry on the palate. Good taste profile. True to style.
3.4 Nose of malt and alcohol. Very malty sweet flavor. Way too much malt for me. Pours reddish brown in color. Had in Madison
4.3 Pours coffee colored with half inch of cream colored foam. Nose has notes of caramel, coffee, malt, oak, and spices. Palate is silky with slight effervescence in the mouth with a strong finish. Taste is pleasant with notes of chocolate, coffee, finishing strong with oaked bourbon. This is a great beer that can appeal to a wide variety of enthusiasts.
3.0 Bottle from Woodmans in the Falls. Pours amber colored with a bit of a head. Nose is all berries and heavy malts. Some earth. Taste is of sweet toffee, lotta earth, light berry and some peat. Medium to full bodied with alcohol. Finishes heavy and sweet, with earth. Shrug? Could be old, could be the style, or could just be not very good. 11.8
3.8 Brownish almost black pour from draft at Toefflers in new glarus. White creamy head. Sweet and malty scotchy flavor. Dank raisin aroma. Complex and very good
3.5 pours a rich ruby reddish brown with a frothy beige head. sweet aroma of malt and fruit. Taste is slightly sweet with a hint of bitter on the finish. A hint of strawberry? Tasty and easy drinking. Good beer!
1.5 Kind of tastes like puke, sour, and definitely not like any Scotch Ale I’ve ever had.
3.2 Very enjoyable. My 1st Louie but certainly not my last. Like the style. Nice head, aroma and finish.
3.5 "nice full feel. big and smooth. fruity and malty, though a little short on smoke and aroma. overall, a little bit of a pleasant surprise. thanks John. 2nd time lots of astringency. Gotta doc it a tenth."
3.7 Opaque dark, red brown color with an ample tan head. Smells of lightly spiced honey, some barnyard earthiness. Some light cereal, bready notes. Mainly sweet, but a lingering tinge of almost sourness, bitterness. Alcohol is reasonably present, medium to full bodied with some oiliness. Lighter carbonation. Pretty interesting beer, quite well done.
3.9 A big beer. Pours dark reddish brown with a lasting light tan head. Rich, malty, peaty flavor. Gets more flavorful as it warms up.
3.8 Shared bottle. Very solid beer. Candy sweetness and malty perhaps a little smoke or am I imagining? Brownish red in color. A bit thin but a very good beer nonetheless. Well done.
3.2 12 oz. bottle at my buddy’s rehearsal dinner at The Madison Club. Pours a clear reddish-brown with a finger-plus of creamy off-white head. The aroma and flavor are both pretty sugary and sweet. Toffee, cookie, sweet bread, toasted sugar, nuts, and dried fruits. Light-bodied, with soft medium-high carbonation and a malty, sweet mouthfeel. I’m normally a little higher on Lake Louie stuff. This isn’t my favorite of their offerings.
3.2 Sweet for a scotch ale. Lots of hopping on the nose, but simply profiled as hop fruit, crystal malt, and a medium minerality.
3.5 Tap by app I’ll keep it short because I’m using my phone. Pours a deep amber not much head but a good Scottish ale. This has been my local tap beer of choice for a couple of years now.
3.2 DLD 2013 Bottle Share. Deep brown with some red tinting on the sides, beige head. Aroma is of caramel, toast, wood, and cherries. Flavor is more earthy with notes of wood, oak, caramel, roast, herbal hops, and nuts. Body is on the lighter side.
3.5 Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown, light auburn. Medium frothy creamy beige head. Aroma is malty. Toasty, light sweet, light caramel. Flavor is malty, sweet, little Smokey/peat, light roast, nutty. Medium body. Creamy and smooth. Finish has some minerals, toasty, nutty. Smooth. Easy drinking like other Lake Louie brews. Pleasant.
3.8 Aroma is malty, toasty, sweet, caramel, a little sugar. Taste is very smooth, malty, roasty toasty, a little sweetness. very nice.
3.4 On tap at The Old Fashioned. Tanish head, amber color. Aroma of toasted malt and earth. Taste is very dark fruit and some earthy hops, and caramel. full bodied and slick. A good beer for this -10 degree weather.
3.6 It’s gotta be me, as I just don’t get a lot of flavor out of this. Poured perhaps a bit cold with a modest light tan head that soon settled and some lace. Color is a clear mahogany with some bubble trails. Aroma is very malty, toffee, caramel, hint of smoke, grain. Flavor’s kind of bland; not as pronounced as nose, some tang up front, only a suggestion of scotch ale. Body/carbonation are excellent. Finish is like flavor, a slightly nuttiness lingers and that’s it. Meh.
3.3 12oz. bottle. Aroma of darkly toasted, sweet malts, some faint dried fruit and toffee with hints of earthiness and black bread. Dark, clear red-brown in color with a lasting, creamy, off-white head. Flavor profile is malty, gently toasty and lightly bitter with suggestions of raisin, nut and earth, some lingering tangy fruitiness and suggestions of alcohol late. Smooth, lightly prickly and effervescent on the palate with a medium body. Really very drinkable.
3.3 Bottle. Deep cola pour, fairly opaque. Really nice aroma of dark fruit, nut, and caramel sweetness. Nice blend of differen flavor elements. Well done.
3.9 Pours a deep ruby with a half finger of tan head that sticks. Aromas are overwhelmingly of dark fruits, mainly grapes and cherries, along with some caramel in the background. Taste is this same maltiness all the way down. Rich and creamy mouthfeel, drinks bigger than 7.2%. This is one of the best Scottish Ales I’ve ever had.
3.8 12 oz. bottle I picked up in Wisconsin on my recent road trip to Yellowstone. Pours a lightly hazed deep amber with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left a partial layer of foam with each sip. Pleasant aroma of malt and a bit of brown sugar. The flavor has ample malt with some brown sugar sweetness. Just a bit of toast in the flavor. Mild bitterness at the finish. Solid.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a clear, dark, reddish brown with a finger of frothy beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel malts and dark fruits. The same in the taste, with a slight alcohol kick. Very good scotch ale.
