Lakefront Cream City Pale Ale

Lakefront Cream City Pale Ale

This top fermenting amber-colored ale is brewed using generous amounts of malt and kettle hops. The trademark of this ale is its beautiful hop bouquet and taste that comes from a liberal dry hopping of the highest grade Cascade hops during the secondary fermentation. The malt firmness of this ale comes from the perfect mixture of two-row malted barley, carapils, and caramel specialty malts. The ale has an original gravity of 1060 and is fermented at 65 degrees farenheight which imparts the classic ale fruitiness to the brew.

2.9 Bottle. Dark clear yellow with little head or lace. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity, and floral hops...all in a fairly non-descript classic APA kind of way. Flavor adds a bit of grapefruit and is fairly balanced with a lightly bitter finish. The texture is watery and light in body. Easily drinkable.
3.3 Bottle. Clear golden amber color, medium white head. Decent citrus aroma. Taste is mostly just caramel.
3.1 Bottle - Nice mellow hop orange nose with a bit of caramel sweetness. Pale clear gold with a minimal head. Although the hops are there, the caramel and malts are overwhelming. If you prefer a malt forward ale with some hops this is what you are looking for, I prefer it the other way around. I also get a bit of booze at the finish.
2.4 Pours an amber color with a citrusy aroma. Taste is slightly bitter with a slight sweetness. Mild bitterness throughout with orange citrus notes. Overall a decent IPA that is easy drinking.
3.7 Very enjoyable pale ale. Well balanced, refreshing, a decidedly creamy/smooth palate. Good stuff.
4.0 Hazy orange, even head, classic bouquet. Creamy texture. Vanilla and grass, malt warmth. Can feel the hops long after the taste is gone. Hits the spot, recommended.
3.6 Pours a cloudy amber gold with a finger sized tan white head mostly dissipating. Nose is licorice and hops. Fairly creamy on the palate, the taste is hoppy with hints of citrus and malt. Nice flavorful brew that pairs well with blue point oysters on matzo crackers.
3.6 12 oz bottle courtesy of Joe K. Nicely hopped, with malts to balance out. Very drinkable Pale Ale.
3.7 Liked this one a lot. Creamy is right. Tastes like the cream soda of beer. Light sweet and refreshing.
3.4 Bottle from Liquid Planet, Missoula. Pours cloudy amber wit a rocky beige head and a fruity smoky aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt flavor with the raspy characteristic of an amber ale.
3.2 Cream City is typical for Lakefront in that these fine folks always seems to go for a balance. You expect the hoppiness in a pale ale (and you get it here), but they throw in enough malt to (somewhat) even out the bitterness with sweetness. Enjoyed from a 12-oz bottle.
3.4 Lakefront did this pale ale right. It is light and drinkable but with a nice hoppinesa.
3.5 Bottle--hazy, straw color color with a small lasting head and lacing on the glass. Aroma was of grapefruit hops with a base of malts. Taste was a sweet, slight caramel with a soft citrus smack. Medium carbonation with a medium hop finish. Variety pack, Publix.
3.2 The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is full of grain and grass, with some orange citrus thrown in for good measure. The flavor is hoppier than the aroma. I get some orange, pine and resin notes from the hops, as well as some biscuit malt notes. The bitterness level is low. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
2.5 Originally reviewed: 2/23/12. 12 oz bottle, bottled on the 3rd week of November ’11. Pours a hazy dark orange/gold. A small half-inch head on top. Great sticky lace left on the glass. Mild citrus tones in the nose. Slight yeasty bready aromas as well. The body could stand to have a bit more carbonation to back it up. Light tartness greets me on the first sip, then finishes with a nice bitter zip. But the flavors fall flat after that. Bready flavors, mild honey sweetness - nothing really stands out though. Little aftertaste. The ingredients are there for a great APA, it’s just poorly executed.
3.4 Pours red...big head.. Aroma is wood and mild hopps...taste is light grass some hopps...very easy drinking
3.2 Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 3/25/12 Aroma: The nose has some orange/citrus, a little spice, and some toast and yeast Appearance: This one pours a cloudy orange-amber color with a small white head Flavor: The taste has some orange and caramel malt sweetness, with a lightly bitter finish Palate: The body is light-medium, with a slightly creamy, drinkable feel, and soft-to-average carbonation Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid one, though it is a little on the boring side. Still, this is a drinkable beer, with some decent components to it.
3.2 I was surprised by this. I’m not so much into pale ales as I am amber ales. This has a nice fruity aroma and flavor and a hearty, hoppy finish. Aftertaste is lightly bitter from the hops. A very pleasant, even handed brew.
2.5 Bottle. Murky golden yellow pour. Small white head. Aroma is mildly sour with tart fruit - starting to think maybe the bottle has gone bad. Medium-light palate with soft carbonation. Taste.....yep, I bet the bottle has gone bad. More like a weak sour than a pale ale. Dangit.
3.7 A coppery amber color with a thin off white head. Smooth and balanced with a crisp finish that has just enough hoppy bitterness. A nice session ale.
3.2 355ml bottle poured a pale amber color with a small white head that settled quickly leaving some thin spotted lacing. Aroma is floral hops and not much else. Taste is light malty sweetness with some nice hoppy bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied and nicely carbonated this is quite an enjoyable pale ale.
2.6 (12oz bottled December) copper color with effervescent bubbles and a creamy tan head. Nose of creamsickle, orange, herbs and light hops. Taste of cracker, earth, orange, and an earthy linger. Rather boring beer. Soft carbonation.
2.1 This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.
3.1 Slight white head, pine and floral aroma. Caramel maltyness. Not a whole lot of bitterness to speak of. Almost tastes a little bland, the aroma seems to have benefited from a good mixture of hops more than the actual taste. Great job on the dry hopping should have done more of that during the boil maybe. But its very easy to drink, almost a little to watered down tasting, possible I’m drinking some old bottles from hyvee, I suspect this is alot better fresh. Overall its not bad, and it seems to me this would be a GREAT beer for someone your trying to slowly show the greatness of hops to.
3.8 Picking up tangerine heavily in aroma very nice. Good tangerine hop flavor also. Although the pour was poor with dead yeast it still was a good beer with a medium golden color. Not much head but a nice thin foam to the bottom, medium carbonation, faint metallic taste that ive gotten from their esb before also.Alot better than the last one i tried and noticed tangerine that really sticks out this time.I really liked this character would love to try a fresh one on tap someday. Rerated after trying a few month old fresher one-this is better than i remembered it since i tried it a while ago.
2.9 Drank one at the brewery. Bitter hops balanced with a fruity and creamy texture. I remember it being more creamy than a typical APA. It was good but I’d like to buy it again to enter more detail.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with a small off-white head. Hasa sweetish malty creamy weak hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty creamy hoppy flavor with caramel hints. Has a sweetish malty creamy hoppy caramel finish.
3.3 A very light pale ale. Not that much hop character to it. It’s crisp and very drinkable, but nothing stands out and the body’s a bit watery.
3.9 Floral hop aroma. Taste is malt and flowery hop forward with a bitter offset. The finish is more crisp citrus.
3.2 Tasting at Wine World. A clear orange with an off white head. Scent is grassy. Taste is caramel and grass, mild bitter finish.
