Lakefront Klisch Pilsner

Lakefront Klisch Pilsner

In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

2.9 Pours crystal gold with a large Whitehead. Aroma is of biscuits and some chlorine. Tasted slightly sweet lots biscuits Some hop medium mouth feel simple beer
3.4 Nice and refreshing. Not too graspy as the majority of the Pilsner ones. Nice features and foam too.
2.4 Bottle from Ashur Liquor in variety 8 pack: Poured a golden blonde color with a tiny patch of foam. In the nose, not much happening other than some grassy hops or grained barley malt. The flavor is again bland and boring and tastes very cheap as if it was made with Mr. Beer’s home brewing kit.
3.2 Draft at brewery. Clear light to medium amber. Minimal white head. Aroma is light; malty, fruity sweet. Flavor is sweet, malty, sugar cereal, bready, fruity, yeast, wheat. Refreshing. Medium plus body. Finish is sweet, light dry. Smooth. Tasty. Flavorful. Maybe too sweet. Very easy to drink, just not that exciting.
3.3 Pours a hazy yellow with a nice head. Nice citrus and grass aromas. Should be having this in summer, as it is really refreshing.
2.8 DATE TASTED: November 30, 2013... GLASSWARE: standard pilsner...OCCASION: Game PSU’s finale a memorable one--well done, boys!... APPEARANCE: slight amber golden body that sports methodical bubbles; white two-finger head settles to a thin splash; zero lacing as the glass drains--not encouraging... AROMA: baker’s dough wafts pleasantly; some floral, fruity esters round out an otherwise nondescript presence... PALATE: smooth, bubbly and softly bodied for a lager--sessionable for sure, yet effeminate...TASTE: apple, pear and thin malts make for a lager with some flavor; rather underwhelming, considering its fellow beers in the mixpack...OVERALL: high expectations unmet, but perhaps not all brews from Lakefront will be flagship offerings...not a fitting celebratory glass for such a stunning upset as Penn State served Wisconsin...
2.9 Pours a light crisp golden with almost nonexistent head. Mild aroma of malt, hop, and farmhouse or hay. Flavor is mild sweet with a crisp refreshing finish. Good for what it is but nothing special. Pretty light body.
3.1 Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/14/13 Aroma: The aroma is on the lighter side with some cereal malts, grass, and a little citrus Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color with a creamy white head and plenty of lace Flavor: The taste is clean and malty, similar to the nose, with a light sweetness and a light bitterness Palate: The body is light but not watery, it has a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a clean finish Overall Impression: This is a decent but not great beer. I didn’t love it, but I can certainly see it as a logical and perfectly drinkable option in certain situations.
2.9 More body and more citrus than usual. Hardly hoppy at all. Other than that, pretty standard. Not great but not unpleasant.
2.6 Draught sample@source during brewery tour 23viii13. Grainy-sweet, pregnant with dry malt Pilsner with not much going on to salvage US grainy dry Pilsners.
2.8 12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden yellow color with a thin fizzy white head. Aroma of bready malts and yeast. Taste of sweet grains and grass.
1.9 Looks like apple cider. Aroma is fruity. Tastes like cereal with too much carbonation. I love Lakefront but can’t say I would recommend this one.
2.7 12 oz bottle: Pours slightly cloudy, nice head and good CO2. Too cloudy for a pilsner. Aroma is pretty bad. Leather, sour vegetables. Taste is salty and bitter with flavors of grass, sour/rotten fruit and not enough hop balance. Rough drinker due to bitter and sour finish. Not very good...
3.3 Draft at the brewery. An overly light-colored brew. Drinks with a super sweet and lemony character at first, but settles into more of a light barley malted brew as it warms. (#5138, 7/5/2013)
2.7 Cloudsy yellow, nice head. Smells grainy, corny. Flavor is also grain and corn. A little on the sweet side. Seems, I don’t know, fat? Not crisp. Too heavy.
2.8 Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a small dense spotty white head. Aroma is crisp malts, and Noble hops. Flavour is crisp maltiness, light sweetness, and a grassy touch with a very mild bitterness. Not the best pilsner but an easy drinking patio or beersbie beer.
3.0 Bottle:   Golden hued straw, fairly clear, light carbonation, moderate sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Subdued aroma, a little straw and hay, not too sweet.   Assertive straw and hay up front, light sweetness.   Slight mealiness lingers.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Not as sweet as the Boulevard before it, but not bad.   Its a bit more mealy and less sweet than the Boulevard, having them back to back.   Could be crisper, and less mealy.   Goes down easy tho.
3.6 I definately enjoyed this beer. At first the name reminded my of shlitz so i was skeptical going in but it ended up being a rather good beer.
3.1 The aroma is sweet malt, grass, a little sweet and fat for this style. The appearance is honey orange/gold, white head. The flavor is sweet, corn-like, noble hops, grassy, spicy. The finish is noble hops, lingering sweetness. Medium in body, a tad thick even. Not as dry, crisp and well-attenuated as expected, but enjoybale.
2.8 Draft at the Wicked Hop in MKE. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head. Nose is benign at first, some graininess and faint herbal hops, then a kick of DMS-canned vegetables. On tasting, medium bitterness and bready malts, lacks the pils malt subtlety. Also, loads of cabbagey DMS on the palate as well. Could use more bitterness overall and less DMS. Meh.
2.5 It’s clean and smooth and has a nice appearance. There just simply isn’t enough flavor to make this stand out. It goes down easy and would be a good starter beer for someone trying to break away from the generic crap out there!
2.8 On tap at the brewery. Pours sudsy gold. Flavor is bold malt with a crisp bite and a touch of Bohemian mustiness. Solid pilsner that tastes a bit more Czech than German.
3.0 An OK pils, a little grainy but the malts come through, somewhat dry, some hop character. Pale yellow with some decent head.
3.5 This German Pilsner pours a light yellowish color as the scent of malts hover over the beer. Upon tasting you take in a good taste of malts with hint of lemon citrus. Not anything to rave about, but not terrible either.
3.1 Medium golden with an eggshell white head. Mild light malt scent with hints of grass. Nice feel, small bubbles and not too many of them. Well balanced with some sweet malts, not overly sweet, just hints of the old style bubblegum you got with baseball cards type of sweetness with a light spice ....cardamon pods and a mild bitter follow. An easy drinking beer. I’m not a huge Pils fan but this is pretty tasty.
2.3 Bottle. Hazy light golden yellow, average white head, but with good retention. Pale malts, doughy yeast, light fruity hop accent in the finish. Low bitterness. Not a great pils, but this bottle is pretty old I believe.
3.0 A little light on the hops for a German pilsner, but a pretty tasty beer.
2.8 Cereal, dough and grassy skunk scent. Fizzy and hazy appearance. Light malt flavor, minor hop contrast Heavy for pils, light for beer.
2.5 Aroma is citrus and malts. The flavor is citrus, malts and something almost like tobacco or raisins. Interesting at first but weird with the tobacco flavor in it.
3.1 12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy gold with an average white head. Aroma of grass, malt, and grain. Taste is grass, grain, malt, citrus, and spices. Nice pilsener!
