Lakefront Oktoberfest

Lakefront Oktoberfest

The radiant copper-orange hue and rocky, off-white head of our traditional Märzen-style lager comes from generous amounts of Munich malt. Caramel malt aromas complement the German lager yeast’s slightly floral aroma. Mt. Hood hops balance the substantial malt body, while the lager yeast adds a subtlety to the flavor,
making this a great rendition of a classic German lager. Prost!

2.8 355 ml bottle. Slightly hazy, dark golden amber, thick beige head, low carbonation. Aroma is bready and biscuity. Mouthfeel is sticky and resiny. Taste is sweet and malty. For me, the sweetness is a bit too dominant, but it’s not a bad beer at all.

3.2 Aroma is very malt fruity. Flavor at first is pretty good with some toffee, toasted malt, but then gives way to sweet malts that linger through the finish. Wish they would’ve reversed that - a bit sweet up front and a nice slightly toasty finish. Oh well.
2.9 12 oz. bottle. Pours hazy/dark copper with off white head. Aroma was sweet toasted malts, earthy and fruity. Taste was toasty and sweet.
3.2 Bottle. Pours deep amber with beige head. Nose is big and bready - doughy malt and yeast notes wafting right off. Flavor is simple, but quite good. Rich and full texture - a generous malt bill - flavors are a spectrum of caramel notes, beginning a little dry but then becoming dominated by sweet flavors with only a hint of hop relief on the palate right at the end- which I suppose is characteristic of the style as it is done in the US (and it is just better than average among US examples I have had), but pales in comparison with more elegant german examples.
2.3 Poured an amber color with a white head. Aroma was of toasted malt and sour metal. Flavor similar, weird metal tang that’s hard to get past.
2.8 Rated blind: This is a pretty decent beer. It’s slightly cloudy and orange w/ a foamy head. It has an earthy hop nose. It’s slightly sweet and heavy but does have a decent malt character to it, if slightly oxidized. Finishes slightly bitter w/ some light mineral notes. This would be great if it were a little dryer and they took care of the oxidation.
2.6 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours an orange color with a nice white head. The aroma is underwhelming with hints of hay and malt. The taste is faint grass, bread, and caramel. It was smooth but thin. This was average and bordered on bland.
2.8 Faint aroma of caramel and some raisins. Nice orange amber color with tan head. Sweet malt up front. Mild bitterness next. Nice sweet caramel malt flavor. Somewhat watery mouth feel. Finish somewhat balanced, bitterness lingers a bit. Average.
