Lakefront Organic ESB

Lakefront Organic ESB

Straw colored with a mild amount of hopping. Organic ESB is one of the few certified organic beers brewed in the world today. The malt bill is comprised of 2-row, Munich, and caramel that is flavored with organic German Perle hops.

3.5 Mostly caramel nose, manifesting as sugar daddy. Appearance is nice, dark orange/copper. Nice lacing pattern. Nice well balanced sweet , a bit of hops, a bit of fruit. Decent. Thanks Kathy, for bringing this one back from your fridge in PA for me.
2.7 12oz bottle. Pours a clear amber colored with one finger of fluffy white head. Aroma of citrus hops and caramel malt. Taste if mostly bready malt notes. Not really getting much else.
3.0 Balanced, malty with a nice hops finish. Not too strong. A bit trashy, earthy, and pale. Not a standout.
3.3 Clear brown color. Smells very malty sweet. The taste starts off very malty almost too much but the dryness of the finish saves it, for me.
3.2 Smell is sweet caramel. Pours dark amber with head that dissipates quickly. Taste is sweet with bitter aftertaste.
2.6 Bottle pour into a pint for this brew at Burch steakhouse. I don’t care about the organic part, there are better esbs out there.
2.9 355ml bottle. Pours a hazy copper amber, with a small off-white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. The aroma has strong toffee and biscuit malt characteristics, with light floral hops notes. Floral and sweet citrus hops up front give way to quite rich biscuit and toffee malt in the mid-palate. The finish is quite savoury, with nutty notes coming through, but leaves a slightly odd aftertaste. This is far from the world’s most exciting beer, but not too bad, aside from its unusual aftertaste.
2.2 This is a pretty mediocre beer. Somewhat watery, grassy and stale tasting. Pours amber.
2.7 Pours light amber with a bit of light tan head. Aroma of citrus and a bit of grapefruit. Taste is a bit sweet with mainly bitter tones. Finish oily and low in carbonation. Overall a decent but nothing special
3.3 12oz served into a SA perfect pint glass. A - Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Average lacing. S - Sweet cereal grains, caramel malts, biscuits. T - Yeasty bread, caramel, sweet cereal grains, grapes, and hints of citrus. It finishes up semi-dry with a light earthy toastedness. M - Creamy carbonation, medium body, smooth feel. This was straightforward and pretty good. Needs a little more hops but drinks nice. Caramel malts and a sweet grain flavor dominate. I would drink this again. Serving type: bottle 05-18-2012
3.0 Pours a hazy dark amber with a sticky off white head that laces the glass quite nicely. Aroma is bready, caramel, and fresh greens. Flavour is caramel, bready, lightly spicy hops, and mild bitterness.
3.1 Orange with a white head. Aroma is bread and sugar. Flavor is grain, toffee, grass and low bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
2.3 not that bad of a beer if you can get over the bitterness of it. i couldn’t.
2.6 Pours a hazy copper with no head and leaves no lacing. The aroma is subtle but nice. The taste is a little underwhelming. I expect big and bold from ESBs but this is just relatively light and drinkable. There is a little bit of hop bitterness in the finish but there is nothing here to write home about. Ok
3.1 Not bad, decent session beer. Maybe a little light for the style, and a slightly metallic up front, but gives way to a fairly smooth and creamy beer with reasonable maltiness and a clean finish.,
3.6 Bottle - Grains and caramel. Clear amber with an off white foamy head. Nice malty flavors, with some light caramel and bitterness. Very clean finish, with next to no residual bitterness. A superbly sessionable beer.
3.7 I don’t know if this beer is worthy of the title E.S.B. but at least it’s decent. It pours a cloudy dark amber color with a slight scent of wheat. Has a good strong wheat flavor with a slight bitter finish to it. Drinks rather smooth and is quite different from the taste of many other of Lakefront’s beers.
2.4 a clear fresh looking beer of a tan amber color. Sweet malt with caramel and slight fruitiness smell. Sweet taste with touch of tin and butter taste. A lighter crisper version of ESB.
2.9 12 oz bottle served in pint glass poured a hazy amber/copper color capped by a thin off-white head with poor retention. Smells fruity, a bit yeasty, and like caramel malt. The taste is dominated by caramel malt. Rather even sweet/bitter balance; a bit sweet for an ESB. Very slight metallic off-taste. Medium/light body with low carbonation. O: A disappointing offering from a superior brewery
3.4 Tap at the Watering Hole. Amber coloured, golden creamy head. Aroma nice maltiness, English ale smell unsurprisingly, slight citrus hops. Taste ok, malty, bit of bitterness, bready. Not really my favourite style, but not bad.
2.7 12oz bottle, that I believe has been sitting around for a good while. Orange-amber color, lots of particles suspended in the body. Little bubbly off-white head, leaves some lace. Lightly musty malt nose. Fruity earthy hop flavor, and caramel malt. More sweet taste, just a lighter bitter. Fine, drinkable, OK. But a bit boring.
3.0 Deep amber/orange color with off-white medium head. Sweet malt scent with caramel, butterscotch & cookie dough. Initially sweet up front with mild floral hopping, mineraly, medium bitterness. Quite British tasting. A decent session beer but noting really jumps out at you.
1.8 Aroma is grainy, grassy and a little funky. Rusty orange color is average for bitters. Flavor is slightly bitter, also seems infected. I hate to rate a beer in this circumstance, but I feel like they might all be this way.
1.9 Kinda flat to be honest. Bitterness is there with hoppy and floral notes. Thin quickly dissipating head. Just eh.
2.6 Pours copper. Bubbly tan head that faded quickly. Toasty caramel, grass, malt. Palate is lighter, slightly sticky. I expected a bit more tart from an ESB. Not bad, but nothing special.
2.7 Pours burnt orange with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, grass and some citrus. Taste was bitter with more sweetness then expected. Medium bodied with sticky texture.
3.2 Bottle. Fruity caramel malt aroma. Hazy amber with a small beige head. Toasty malt, citrus, sweet tea, and a light bitter finish. Smooth medium body.
2.8 amber with small head. malty base with slight bitterness. certainly not unpleasant, but kinda boring.
3.1 Pours a light brown with off white head. Nose and taste is grainy, a touch of light hops and mellow malts. Not a bad beer, but nothing special either. Good cooking beer.
0.8 Wow, really? Color is of the rust water after a city hydrant drain. Head is null after a few drinks. Aroma is boozy with a weak malt. Flavor is a bland malt with a hint of sour and dry after.
